Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Taylors coaching methods and his man management has been an abject failure this year.

Morale in the camp seems at an all time low with players wanting out and the captain being pushed out the door.

They walked into a mess, but Taylor has created an even bigger one.

By completing this trade we would pay $750k for Robbie to play at STGI and pay $450k to rein.
We would have to pay $1.20m for the hooker position and likely lose Cherrington.

The Tigers 'TAYLOR' doomed us as by trying to trash Farah's reputation they have made it toxic. Clubs know Farah has to go otherwise Taylor has to. He will leave for next to nothing being paid by the incoming club to preserve Taylor's job.

Make no mistake the club is backing Taylor therefore the only hope is the board changes and Taylor is sacked.

The money is not the issue , the club moving forward is the issue!..this is the reason Taylor is being supported .Mr HT had a sit down meeting with all parties what seems to have happened from that alone should tell something ..not much it seems.

A few comments about losing Cherrington here. The way I see it, Cherrington is likely to get more time on the field if he's sharing with Rein rather than Robbie. He won't be ready for 80 minutes next season anyways.

Plus, as stated elsewhere, Rein only has a one year contract. That means one less year before Cherrington is the main hooker.

Long story short, I think Cherrington will be staying.

Your numbers don't make sense TYGA. Based on the discussion above, the WT will pay $450k to Rein and $350k to top up Robbie's contract, a total of $800k. This means the WT will swap Robbie for Rein and save $100k under the cap (assuming Robbie is contracted for $900k next year).

Your right about the board backing JT. Basically Robbie can't stay with the WT. I hope he kills it at Saints.

Sorry Farah is on $900k we will pay $750k/$900k with STGI topping up $150k to secure his services.
We will have to foot $750k a year for Farah even to move him on.

We would then have Rein at his full contract price estimated at $450k + $750k for Farah = $1.20m
The numbers may vary so even best case $350k Rein + $650k for Farah = $1.00m would be closer to a break even position. I just don't see why STGI would go for it as Farah is older and only has 2 years left Rein has a long career ahead of him.

I have been the first to say if we could lose Farah's contract I would let him go tomorrow. The issue is the way it happened EGO's got in the way of business.

what? thats not how it works at all.

if robbie is on 900k and we tell him to go, if the dragons pick him up for 600k. we only pay 300k.

and i reckon his market value would still be around the 600-750k mark. keep in mind we also get a veteran allowance, i believe farah is the only one to qualify on our team. that takes off a FURTHER 200k from what comes off of our cap.

The club can't move anywhere with this fool as coach.
Get rid of him,
it'd be cheaper than paying most of Robbies contract for two years for no benefit to the club

Lawry definitely gets veteran allowance, so no loss there. Woods will be eligible next year also (it starts from when you play 20s).

Unless we get rid of another high profile player (Not Marty as he isn't on this coin) at the club on the same amount as Rein we wouldn't be able to register his contract as we are already over for next year (rep bonus payments count for next years cap as well).

As I mentioned before the only way this deal would be if Rein was swapped for Farah + Dragons paid 100k - unless something just as big as Farah deal is happening on top of this.

At the beginning of the year if you had told me that we would be talking about swapping Farah for Rein as move to take this club forward - I would say you have got rocks in your head. Still feel the same.

A lot can happen in one season of NRL. It has happened in many clubs this season, South Sydney is a prime example.

The poor man was punished severely by Marina, for having his say on FB. We won't be hearing from him anytime soon I'm afraid.

I am still thinking compromise will be the outcome here, Farah plays first grade 2016 with lesser minutes than Cherrington who will still start off the bench.CL will be given the captaincy 2016, Farah goes to Super League in 2017, 12 months should be a reasonable amount of time for him to arrange a suitable club as opposed to what he was given at the end of this season.
People are quick to direct hate at Farah, usually based on rumour, forgetting that he has been a stalwart of our club for many years, the fact that he was generous enough to take a substantial pay deferment to help the club a couple of years ago, has now come back to bite him on the bum as he is being looked at like a pariah because he has stuck up for himself and hasn't walked.

Great, 900K a year to play 30 mins a week without any responsibility. May as well play without him.

If Farah stays Taylor has a chance of keeping his job. If Farah goes we will run between 10-16th next year with the roster. Taylor won't be coach if we are not solidly in the top 8 next year. You dot get 3 years in this game to make the finals.

The only hope is Farah stays and plays the house down to prove a point and units the club with performances that are top drawer.
