Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

You get nothing right when you put wods into peoples mouths

Not me…nup, I never said "the only football that wins games consistently is Taylor ball "

So, who else...you said ''people''.... plural - more than one

I think there are a few on here that have the odd wood in their mouth….maybe too frequently and its affecting their thinking.

Im still at a loss to work out what "Taylorball" is, other than a made up word that says more about those who use it, and apparently we would have easily made the top 4 with some other type of game plan. God knows we certainly had the right front office, plenty of money and third party deals , and the best roster in the competition.

"Taylorball" is style of football guaranteed to have you finishing equal last in the competition. Not rocket science to work it out!

So that means Newcastle played it too?

Not true. The whole premise is to make it easier on the defence. Sides with stronger defence can play that style affectively. It's not for us though. But at the same time, we don't have to play a Sheens era style or the Walker bros style to be successful like so many seem to think.

Potter played Taylorball in 2013 when we finished 15th too …didn't you know....I seem to remember Mick saying you need to earn the right to attack by laying a solid platform...

Robbie said he couldn't Coach....

Funny thing is here though Robbie himself has said that he has no problems with Taylor as Coach and no problem working under him...seems that doesn't mean much to the Taylor distractors...

No Geo we are "Re-engineering" the whole organisation for 2016 not just our style of play. Things will be better, even JTs coaching.

We will improve in 2016, we have to.

Of course we will. We'd already improved at the back end of this yr when the style was scrapped. Will we improve enough to make the 8? Probably not, but provided we make a few decent signings next yr, 2017 is a big chance of a top 8 finish.

I am only a casual follower of League but I thought I noticed a pattern of when Robbie was not playing with the WT they usually lost, one except a game mid season this year and maybe others. This has been common for at least two years. So with Robbie often away this year they lost plenty.

Benji stated recently that Robbie was the best in the trade at reading the numbers up the middle so knowing when to attempt to exploit any weakness there. That being the case it only makes sense to grab that opportunity. IF they are not in the centre that means that they are on wings etc. so why pass out there where the defense is waiting. As Robbie only makes a few such runs every game he certainly is not hogging the ball. If course 9 out of ten times he passes out.

Maybe someone more keen can check out the stats of when WT lost and if Robbie was playing. I am by no means knocking other players.

My first post, I only played at school getting concussion for a few weeks.

We've also lost plenty with him playing.

That is when percentages need to be looked at. When the Farah-less losses are deducted from total losses what was the percentage of losses with Farah playing?

When some Broncos supporters were watching Broncos verses WT at Byron Club I was shocked at personal hatred for Farah and I was sort of wondering what has he done to them or Broncos? I realise now maybe due to SOO last year. But personal hatred should not come into it of someone they don't even know, that is probably the same for some of the posters here.

The only player I have ever hated a bit was Rocket Reddy for all the punches he thrown in games - it is not a boxing match.

I'm not sure we did improve at the back end of the year when the 'taylorball' - whatever that is - was scrapped (apparently). Winning 3 games from 8 wasn't really an improvement percentage wise. (we won 4 of 8 at the start of the year playing 'Taylorball'). At the end, I certainly don't think a freakish win against Melbourne, scraping home against the Raiders or belting a very, very sad looking Warriors outfit as much of an improvement. (Sure, the warriors game was Farah's finest, but it didn't last). We still got belted by Eels, Broncos, Roosters, Sharks, and lost in a disappointing way to the Dragons at the end which would have seen us finish 11th I think.

Even playing your own style, with 15th compared to 11th as the driving factor in the last game, we couldn't get home. I'm not sure there was much change from the start of the year….We still had close to 150 scored against us in the last 5 rounds. Before that we got flogged by the Panthers and Eagles, so not much to write home about.

i think the whole point of "Taylorball" was to teach the team the basics before going into fancy plays. you can't create game plans and attacking plays if the team isn't gonna respond. let the team respond to basic, no nonsense game first, weed out the weaker ones and then start devicing better game plans. I THINK that was the whole point.

the problem most had with what we did this year was we played all 80 mins (or tried to) with the same 6 tackles bomb gameplan. the difference between other teams and us (apart from the fact that they did it better) was they still played about 10-15 mins of ad lib football here and there whereas we just kept doing the same thing over and over again.

taylor has a lot of improvement to do as a coach. he's gonna have to stay flexible and say "well this isn't working, let's try something new" a lot of times. if he remains stiff and doesn't adapt to the new rules, new squad etc. he's gonna get even more crap than he is now.

we've put all our eggs in one basket. i.e. JT, teddy, brooks, moses and woods. the reason we've done that is we've had no other choice.

and please let's skip all this % of wins talk. our overall win % is probably 50%, no matter whose % you look at in the squad, it's gonna look bad.

Post by tig_prmz » Sat 17 Oct, 2015 10:33 pm, Tig, you failed to note that Farah used to have maybe the best short kick under the goal posts in the whole game - it often bounced up perfectly. Surely JT does not want him to stop doing that!

A commentator noted after the recent win against the Warriors that it was the first time a coach ever threw their phone away in disgust when their team scored.

Give the coaching to Kimmorley and Farah,
