Robbie Farah on why he couldn’t let James Tedesco leave

I'm so glad he didn't leave. He is already my new favourite player after what he did in the first few weeks of the comp last year. He's a champion bloke off the field as well !

This is one of those instances where Robbie showed he was a leader not just a captain. More of that in 2015 would be awesome.

Everyone is saying "lucky for tigers he stuck around". But I think in a couple of years Teddy will look back and say "phew, lucky I didn't go"
Good luck to the Tigers and to Teddy

Yeh. We hear a lot about senior players, leadership.
This is a terrific example of how important leaders/senior players can be in a squad.

After reading the article,it's fair to say that Robbie Farah is a leader of men…now we can see why he is our captain...

Last seasons disruptions and critism of Robbie and other players was in my opinion a failure of the very people who are left in charge of a quality NRL side....BOARD and ADMIN,who obviously had no idea eg.Potter having his hands tied, salary cap shambles etc..

Injuries didn't help and pressure did mount, unfortunately 2014 results were the result of everything culminating at the end...

This year we have stability and direction throughout the club and although we walk a tough road I think the leaders and stars will shine....good luck to Robbie and his team of stars.....

yep i admit to being a bit hard on farah at times. my issue has been whether he has his own interests at heart (eg; **his obsession with SOO like having it written on his taping during a tigers game)** instead of the team/club, but i am very happy to admit i have been well proven wrong by just this issue alone.
seems he really bleeds wests tigers and apart from being grateful for his role in helping tedesco change his mind im sure he also does a hell of a lot more we dont know about.

i really hope the dramas of last season are well and truly behind him now - it must have taken quite a toll on him - and that this year is one he truly deserves.

Turnstyle, SOO is the highest form of our game, I love the Stretch Goal mentality that Robbie employs here whereby he knows that only through his hard work and commitment to our tigers wlll he reap the reward of SOO.

Again for me he shows that he will never take WT or NSW for granted.

Slightly off topic, Bare with me

We give players hard time here, I hate Keyboard warriors and wannabes.

I regularly hang with a handful of NRL players 1 of which is a current club captain

Its not easy when people are always walking up to you and the think they know you personally and almost every one talks about the same thing footy, Defense mechanisms spring up that an be misconstrued as arrogance.

Well done Robbie,

Hopefully the WT's can remove all the distractions so Robbie can do what he does best[/quote
As long as everyone does what Robbie wants and he gets everything he wants
I am sure everything will be ok! Good advice to Teddy to stay on board.

I think it's fair to say that the entire organisation was in disarray last year. Without clearly defined roles, our CEO was sticking his nose into football operational matters and players were concerned about things other than just playing football. It seems that the house is now in order and everyone can now just do their job, confident that everyone else is doing the same. I haven't been a fan of Mayer up until now, but was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt as to how he'd perform with a strong Board directing his role.
It's all looking very good!

Tede$co unfairly copped plenty from many on here mid la$t year.

Yep. Gotta say, this forum has upheld great values (probably better than any RL forum) but the autocorrect to "Tede$co" was a bit childish and insulting. Felt disappointed.

I'm not usually a fan of Farah's style of leadership but hats off to him in this case.

I know how he must have felt - because I was the same, just horrified that Tedesco was leaving when he showed so much potential, right from the first time I saw him play U20s.

I think the –--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Farah bleeds Wests Tigers first and Foremost...IMO

Follow him on twitter, you'll realise what this club means to him. His heart is in the right place, however his emotions make him an easy target sometimes. I too questioned his full commitment to our club recently, however some of his recent posts have extinguished any doubts i had. He truely loves this club.

It's interesting that he followed the bulldogs as a youngster though. I sometimes try and put myself in players shoes and wonder if i would be able to show the same amount of passion for a club other than the tigers. You put so much effort and commitment into one club growing up and then are put on the battlefield against them as a player. Would be pretty hard…

The captain gets a lot of unfair heat on here.

Where as guys like Anasta, **Moltzen** and Marshall were playing golf telling him to take the cash and run.

The captain basically reversed his decision.

One of these things is not like the others….. :roll

Makes me wonder if Moltzen's motives were different to Marshall and Anastas.

"Yeah Teddy, sure, go to the Raiders..... _somebody_ will fill in at fullback.... nah man, all good you go..."

any doubts i had were dispelled quite a while ago and i realised i was wrong.

as for supporting a team and playing for another when you're an adult thats different. i was a die hard supporter of a footy club here as a kid but being in another clubs district played for them against my old team. when you have grown up playing with and against the other guys you end up teamed with it creates an even greater bond.

and anyway, he went for the bulldogs, so its no wonder he saw the light and is a diehard tiger!
