Robbie Farah's close mate advises Wests Tigers star 'you can't go out this way'

But the budding entrepeneur considers property investment as merely a hobby, **his real desire is to continue a career in rugby league after majoring in sports administration. He's as calculated off the field as on it.**
–----------------------------------------

I hope soon enough Robbie gets his 250 games with WT first grade then play by ear after that. Due to above quote Robbie could have something to offer the Club afterwards and this could be factored in about moneys owing in 2016 and 2017\. At least we know that Robbie is dedicated to the game, to the WT and has uni qualifications to back it up. I think many clubs have suffered due to not having professionally-qualified management. Often was retired players etc.. So Robbie is in fact unique to an extent.

The difference is that Robbie has always produced the goods year after year - that is the main reason I don't like to see him herded out. Others there have huge gaps in their game but get rostered week after week, so it appears to be about the money or personal.

If Farah was only planning on playing 2017 & than hanging the boots up, I would say he should hang em up this year. The club should offer him a role such as: club ambassador, youth development, marketing (nothing to do with the first grade side) etc and give him $400k/year over 3 years to make up for his 900k + some light work over the next 3 years.
That way he remains a 1 club player & still have some positive association with the club & fans.

The salary cap auditor would put the 900 onto our 2017 cap for sure, so the only thing we would gain would be have Farah away from the football operation and the distraction all this drama has caused. It would not take pressure off the cap and I would bet money this is what all this drama is about in the first place

I think they stopped that when Gasnier returned from France. He had a big backloaded contract but then he retired for the last year. Theory being , that they still pay him that money for the last year but it not going under the cap. So they got him cheap for the previuos 2 years.
A smart way to circumvent the cap.

Watmough this year got special dispensation because he retired due to a so called career ending injury, so in other words Parra could pay him out without the money being accounted for in the cap. My understanding under normal circumstance any money paid to a player must be accounted for in the cap and Farah is not going to walk out the door and retire without getting his 900g that is owed for next year. I only hope cap wise, is for another club to pick up Farah for 2017 and take on a chunk of his contract and I guess that will probably happen. Lets face it why would Farah hang around and play reggies for 900g, when he could play FG at another club for the same money and prove a point.

Plus any hopes of playing SOO one more time would be gone. As much as Daley said this year he would pick him from reggies I don't think he would even consider it if Robbie has played half the season there - reggies wouldn't give him the match fitness or speed of game to play at SOO level.
