Robbie just not on the job

@Eddie said:
He is still very good, however between 2006 and 2008 the guy had some genuine blinders, where he was just about the best attacking player in the competition. He could easily have been a 2 time Dally M winner.

If I'm honest I think it's a dissapointment where his career is at. For his talent I thought he would play several origins and test matches for Australia. Maybe circumstances have conspired against him however I don't think he is the dynamic force he was a few years ago.

Yep. He hasn't kicked on has he. He is a quality player just not at the top level of players in the game.

I love his toughness. I love his passion. I think he needs to work on a couple of areas of his game but especially his explosiveness around dummy half.

I think because of the captaincy, he has tried to take on too much responsibility for others. It's very similar to past Australian cricket captains, as soon as many of them receive the leadership their own game declines or suffers in some way. Wonderful player who needs to enjoy the game more and not try to take on so much of the burden off a losing team.

He's not in career best form at the moment, but he's far from poor. If the Tigers can start stringing some wins together I'm sure we'll start to see a resurgent Farah.

Look around him theres not to many others on fire & hes tackling his gut out every game, he leads by example & will do me as our hooker.

Lets not forget that he had no off season due to surgery and no real trial hit outs

I love the fact that he care so much and that loosing burns him.

Some of the others could take a leaf out of his book.

Your on the money willow….If any player is to get us back on track it will be Robbie , the speed from dummy half is what's been missing and is a gutsy tackler despite what people say.

He has played two less games than most but that aside, he continues to do his share and more in defence, does his best from dummy half in terms of sparking attack, his kicking game is off a little sometimes but he is the first one I would pick each week.

defensively he is fine…

its his attack...

runs from dummy half have been non existent (compared to what we were used to).. i dont know how much it has to do with the leniency of refs with the markers or if its just robbies inability to pick his spots as much..

on that note, marshall is also struggling to step up another gear at five eight.. the comment will come under fire because he does do some great stuff, however he just cant read and direct the game like an andrew johns or lockyer, he lacks that ability.

Robbie is going just fine. His 'apparent' drop in form is only problem number 23…meaning not very serious.

He is tackling his butt off, creating some space and playing with passion. Plenty of other areas where we need to improve before we suggest Farah.

Hmmm…. surgery in the off season so no per-season training, played two and a half games with a broken nose, suspended for two weeks. Gees!If anyone deserves a few weeks to get into the groove he does....and I saw in the Tele that he's coming third in some hooker ranking thing. Robbie is No. 1

poor buggar no matter what he does… in some way he is wrong......
he can't win either way.
turn it up, maybe we as supporters, should get our own stuff in order before we make judgement on others

Well said.

I see Eddies view re he should have repped more.

But I dont blame Farah for that.

He is a champ.

I don't think the tele would ever pick one of our players as number one unless they were completely backed into a corner.

And in response to the thread, Farah is hurting more than any other. You can see he is competitive by nature and losing cuts him to the core. He's not at his best but by far from his worst and has 18 rounds to show everyone what he can do.

I'm not going to criticise someone who is 80 odd kilos, makes 40 tackles a game and is expected to pull a match winner out of his arse.

I think its common knowledge that the ruck has evolved into a wrestle which has severly affected his ability to get out of dummy half and do some damage

Here is some stats comparing ‘out of form’ Farah to the other top hookers in the game at the moment. (Stats are per game played this year.)
\
\
Errors: Hinchcliffe 0.0, Smith 0.3, Kingston 0.3, Buderus 0.8, Ennis 1.0, Farah 1.25
Tackles: Farah 39.2, Smith 38.5, Buderus 36.1, Ennis 35, Kingston 47.6, Hinchcliffe 24.8
Missed Tackles: Smith 0.8, Hinchcliffe 1.0, Farah 2.2, Ennis 2.5, Buderus 2.8, Kingston 3.1
Hit Ups: Farah 13.5, Smith 11.3, Hinchcliffe 7.6, Buderus 5.3, Kingston 4.5, Ennis 4.1
Metres Run: Smith 64, Farah 63.5, Hinchcliffe 51, Kingston 45.1, Buderus 40.8, Ennis 20.6
Kevin Kingston is the only one credited with a single line break.
Smith (0.8), Farah (1) and Kingston (0.8) are the only ones credited with offloads

Whilst stats aren't everything, they give a good comparison. Farah's numbers are where you would expect them to be as the second best hooker in the game. He gives Cameron Smith a genuine run for his money, makes Ennis look like an absolute total dick (which he is), and proves in most cases there is a big gap between him and third best hooker.

How he has been described as out of form is beyond me, not forgetting these stats are skewed because Farah smashed his nose against Cronulla in round one and got half of his average for most numbers.

Now, each week being behind a beaten forward pack is he still out of form?

We have a lot of players not playing to the best of their abilities currently.
That will only change when we start wining games

Great post Swordy…interesting stats. Imagine if Rob had a full off season of training and didnt play 2 of his 4 games with a smashed nose....He is going well.
