From what I understand Rocket will be working closely with the fringe First Graders and young guys keeping them motivated and improving their chances once they get the call up to FG….cant be a bad thing...

Possibly almost a father figure type role too…JT even though he'd be getting on (40's I guess) he doesnt seem to age still looks 17
I think his appointment is an embarrassment.
I was pleased when the likes of Roach and Sirro were moved on, only to have Reddy appointed.
Huh? What's the thinking behind that? I think it is one of the craziest moves of all time.
How's this dinosaur going to fit in with the other mob we've appointed who, at face-value, would seem admirably suited to the gym/club scene of Oxford St?

He will be working between Jason Taylor and NSW Cup coach Paul Fletcher. To make the transition to first-grade for these guys. He will be the bridge between NSW cup and the NRL.
It sounds like to me Jason Taylor will not hesitate to drop someone.
Competing for your spot is a good thing. His job will be to guide them back into first grade .

Don't think anyone's saying older coaches are useless, but it doesn't help older coaches being out of the game for a period. The game changes at rapid speeds these days,, its hard for the older brigade to adjust when they come back. Chris Anderson and John Lang are obvious examples. When Anderson come back to the Roosters he was using one marker and was getting slaughtered out of dummy half. They might have worked 30 years ago, not so much today.

I just read it that LCA seems to think Reddy is past it, his only argument seems to be his age - (dinosaur)

Reddy is a part of a Coaching team I don't think our season depends on him,,,,I think some would find fault if we had McGuire as coach with Bellamy Robinson and Hasler as assistants....

Many businesses employ and keep many employees of mature age(55)and over,mainly because of their work ethic and knowledge.Even if the game does change many times,people like Reddy are always keeping pace with the changes,it would surprise many that JT has just suddenly said I will take Reddy and make an assistant out of him even if he hasn't had anything to do with the game in 30 yrs….Rod has obviously got something to offer otherwise he wouldn't get the job...good luck to him and anyone else over the age of 55 in a career,we aren't there for nothing,myself included.. :smiley:

Reddy would be good to hand out an arse kicking when it's needed, don't think he'd shy away from that either. He's not the head coach, everyone just needs to relax a little bit. It's good to have a mix of experience in the ranks.

Im not sure how long out of the game he has been if at all, I do know he had an assistant coaching role at parra for a while

As for Reddy, well just because a player, or any person for that matter, is from an older generation, it doesn't mean he hasn't kept up with changes and is not up to speed with the way the game is being played now - older players are actually capable of learning you know. I welcome him aboard.
