Rookies Report

Teddy - Impressive display. His work defending kicks was excellent. He was beaten on that 40/20 but Gould is a dimwit and it was only because Carney kicked the hell out of it. No fullback would have stopped it. Backed up well and attacked the ball well. He's coming along nicely.

Nofoaluma - Bit down on recent performances but boy is he hard to tackle. Showed confidence to back himself against Fifita late in the game but if he looked inside he had Marshall in support who would have probably scored. No major problem.

Simona - Is he technically a rookie? Who cares. Wow where has this form come from? A few good knocks and all of a sudden he is Ben Barba. I think he'd have the best footwork in the NRL and both he and Nofoaluma have freakish upper body strength for their size. I hope the rumours are untrue.

Sue - Another good knock. Unlucky to knock make the offload to Marshall stick and unlucky to be penalised late for a flop when he'd already made the decision to go in to tackle. Otherwise ran and tackled hard as usual.

Buchanan - He looks to have gained some leg drive. Something he was lacking early in the year.

Seumanufagai - Wow. Best performance in first grade in limited minutes. Runs very hard and absolutely steamrolled one Sharks defender. Give him more minutes.

More good stuff from the new kids. Again we lose because of the experienced players.

macdougall stop smoking tedesco,he was not impressive his positioning is terrible and im still waiting for the player that everyone is talking about on this forum, very overated i think.

Lol yeah okay. I'm not a "smoker" of Tedesco Jimmy, I have been very reserved in my praise for him. His positioning isn't terrible. Carney put in a firecracker that would have caught every fullback in the comp out. Other than that he took a few screamers and was solid.

I'm pretty disappointed that Carey kicked one nearly as good earlier and he was out of position.

So what is the alternative? Lean to that side of the field so Carney just kicks to the other side? I'm not NRL level fullback but it seems like logic. A kid concedes a 40/20 and he has horrible positioning?

Is it just me ,does Tedesco seem to slip over a lot also seems to get up injured all the time
Hasn't made a line break yet
Although cant question his bravery

He is a bit slippy but it's getting better. He certainly can absorb a knock. Dugan was a lot like that when he first came into first grade.

Tedesco was good tonight. He took Carney's swirling bombs all night long, backed up farah for the try, took benjis crap chip that went 20m high and 5 metres long, covered carney one on one during a break and was the only one contesting our offensive bombs all night. .

The 40-20 was a great kick. There's a difference between being out of position and the opposition half having a great night with the boot.

x2

Seumanufagai deservers more game time.

Tedessco was very good under high ball and kick returns.

Sue runs hard, and was solid in defence, if we only scored from that offload

SImona and Nofoaluma were again very good, Lawrence needs some time at NSW cup when Koroibete comes back.

Nicely thought out assessment Jimmy; I am sure we are all waiting breathlessly for your next pearls of wisdom.

I don't know if I'm in the minority here but I thought Rowdy had a very good game. Solid in defence and hit holes hard in attack. I think it's his spot to lose at the moment. Same with Ayshford. Both centres have been solid at worst.

With that sort of dribble I can certainly wait. Tedesco was good.

No Rowdy was a big plus for me. I thought it was his best performance in at least 12 months.

I was more defending him than praising him. He dropped one ball and it was contesting a bomb at full speed in attack ( he was the only tiger who contested it) and he technically 'missed' fafita who was at full speed and falling over the try line after Sue missed the one on one tackle. Plenty of people to blame for the loss and first half effort but tedesco isn't one of them.

Mate you watch the match again and you tell me when Tedesco knocked on a bomb because i don't remember. He knock on a pass when we were on the attack but again that was benchy throwing it behind him
