Roosters Dramas......Again!!!

All I will say about the issue if you want to believe it was an injury that was the reason he(Carney) was rested you could be very wrong and that old habits are hard to kick . Read into that what you want .

A leopard doesnt change its spots and the Roosters can keep the garbage they have signed over the last few years, there backyard is starting to smell like a tip, aahh nothing like the smell of crap in the air…Carney, Watts, Myles all great role models..............

Go Roosters you do the game proud!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, most teams have dramas off field at some stage.
have we all forgotten, issues wests-tigers have had off field over the years, and in fact recently???

yeah like our players get done for dui or going to the toilet in a stairwell to do a number two and in our case all charges we dismissed, so making a mistake is a far cry from being down and out grubs.

So lets not put them on the same page as what our players have done it is nowhere near the same, the roosters should hang there heads in shame the issues that club has had over the last few years is a disgrace to the game

Watts looks an intelligent reserved young man just look at the cheap shot he took on Farah, yeah the man has style and class. Mmmm I wonder!!!!

Anthony Watts to be sacked, Todd Carney on brink

RUGBY league's most troubled club, the Sydney Roosters, will sack Anthony Watts and then consider axing Todd Carney after allegations of another ugly off-field incident.

The NRL's image took a further battering yesterday when Anthony Watts, 24, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm after police allege he punched ex-girlfriend, Shannon Kiss, repeatedly in the back of her head.

The incident came after Watts and Todd Carney were out at the Coogee Palace and then The Trademark Lounge Hotel - John Ibrahim's nightspot in Bayswater Road, Kings Cross. Onlookers claim the pair left the Coogee Palace at 11pm and The Trademark at 4am.

Sydney Roosters officials were last night refusing to speculate on whether Carney was drinking alcohol but The Daily Telegraph understands the star player was consuming vodka and soda. "He was definitely on the drink in front of everyone," one onlooker said.

The pair were joined for a few drinks at The Trademark by boxer Garth Wood.

Given he is attending Alcoholics Anonymous and missed Saturday night's 24-6 loss to Brisbane in Gosford because of an injury, Carney may now have his lucrative contract ripped up.

It is understood Carney and Watts live together in Coogee. The Roosters will have no choice but to sack Watts.

Any action from the Roosters may have to wait until powerful club chairman Nick Politis returns from a trip to Greece on Friday.

Carney, who returned a blood alcohol level of 0.052 as a P-plater on February 26, asked Roosters management for the weekend off so he could visit his mother, Leanne, in Goulburn. The drama will hinder Carney's chances of playing for NSW this year.

Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce will present the NRL with a detailed report of the incident today after a crisis meeting at the club's SFS headquarters.

An AVO was yesterday served against Watts, who will front Waverley Local Court on Thursday.

This is the latest drama for a club in crisis.

After reaching last year's grand final, the Roosters have won just two of six games this year and face premiers St George Illawarra next Monday at the SFS.

"We have to get all the facts. One matter is before the courts," Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce said. "I will find out all the information from both players before we act."

Asked whether Carney was drinking, Noyce said: "I don't know."

Friends say Watts and Kiss separated recently. Watts, who was sacked from Cronulla, was said to be angry at the break-up.

It has also been suggested that Watts suffers from depression and has previously been admitted to a rehabilitation centre.

Sources claim Carney and Watts became separated on the night from a Roosters minder. There were also suggestions the pair were out with sprint trainer Roger Fabri, who recently worked with Willie Mason."I have spoken to Steve Noyce and we are awaiting a report from the Roosters," NRL chief executive David Gallop said. "Clearly this is a serious issue that the police are looking into."

The Roosters issued a press statement yesterday which read in part: "Steve Noyce said that the seriousness of the charge underlined the need to ensure that all the facts were established before any judgment was made by the club.

"The club is aware Anthony had been out with fellow Sydney Roosters teammate Todd Carney and will conduct a thorough investigation and provide a report to the NRL within the next 48 hours."

**Hard to believe Carney abstained from drinking hanging around a loser such as Watts!?!…Guilty by association?**.**.Watts to be sacked, Carney to be spared...again!**

Well we all saw Watts unprovoked knock out of Robbie at Leichardt and actually punch him again as he fell to the ground. Sounds similiar to the report of Watts attack on his ex girlfirend.

I would just like to congratulate Robbie for beating the living crap out of Watts at the next scrum. I think he had the next 6 weeks off recovering

Never a more deserving get even.

Surely they have to sack Carney. They should have had a zero-tolerance policy with him after scavenging him from Canberra (obviously a club with a higher moral aptitude).

The only way it makes it fair for these repeat offenders to be hired again by another club, is if they are sacked at the first sign that the new club can't control the player either.

Carney won't be sacked. He's a protected species and Politis won't let the one player who keeps the Cocks competitive go.

They'll sack Watts, Carney will dodge the bullet again and trundle himself out in front of the media with a quivering bottom lip and promise to never do it "again."

The NRL should step in. This guy has had more chances than a monopoly board.

Don't be so sure CB I reckon if they find Carney was drinking after what happened earlier in the week he might be stood down indefinitely at the least as he is drinking again and swore off it

I messaged you Happy, do you reckon you could fill me in?

The Truth is never in the Papers …. Drama sells newspapers as we all know...

Lets take a breath and see if the Rosters and the NRLs deal with Carney in particular and wether they allow another club to pick him up a little way down the track if he is forced out of the Roosters.

If the NRL has any interest in protecting their product they will not allow him to go to another club after being sacked again. He should be deregistered and not allowed to return. His criminal record will ensure the English won't grant him a visa so he won't be able to chase dollars in the ESL.

As I said to HT earlier, Politis will do everything he can to keep the Roosters competitive, even if it is to the detriment of Rugby League as a product. This is unfitting of an ARL representative and shows that it's a glaring conflict of interest having a figure heavily involved with a club sitting on the ARL board and willing to let the game suffer publicly in order for his club to benefit.

That clubs culture is toxic and Politis shows no active interest or desire to change it.

The IC cannot come quickly enough.

x2 CB the changes with independant commision can't come quick enough But some clubs have lots to lose if the independant commission goes ahead as they won't be able to sweep things under the carpet like they do presently . Let union have Carney in my opinion if he has been found to breaking company policy again x6 this will be in his NRL career

Yeah… not a fan of this off-field stuff dragging clubs/players etc through the mud, but maybe it is time for him to go for the benifit of the game!!!

The Roosters should recieve some punishment also... They just cant keep a leash on thier players and its becoming a joke!!!

Noyce is now admitting Carney was drinking.

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/carney-was-drinking-roosters-boss-admits-20110418-1dkgz.html

I'm also guessing that the 'reason' suggested at before in this thread for Carney not playing on Saturday night was disciplinary and not injury related.
The thing I don't understand with the Roosters is why they would ever let Carney, with all his issues, flat with Watts in the first place. I would have thought that for Carney's sake, Noyce would have insisted he be taken under the wing of a responsible senior player at the club.

Watts is just a little grub, but from what I know and see, he and Carney are big mates and always by each others side.

Verdict will go something like this:

Watts sacked
Carney suspended indefinitely (while he attends to his problems).

In a short while, Carney will apologise, go to rehab, say he is a changed man and be back in the rooters team before the finals.

I'm with you Tommy Magpie, they'll sack Watts that's a given and Carney will be forced to sit out the rest of the season while he receives treatment for his alcohol abuse and will be back next season for the Roosters.

I work with a well connected chooks fan and he thinks Carney will be gone. There are rumours of him doing something very grubby himself on the same night.
