Roster Breakdown: 2024-2029

Not sure if it's been mentioned but interesting to see Adam Doeuihi meeting with Trent Robinson recently. I think he'd be a good signing for Roosters personally. Their issue is small halves. The rest of their roster is very good
He’d be a tops signing for the roosters, can they take him now?
OMG is this an April fools prank?
He’s great Robbo, a fantastic 5/8, FB and centre, a real leader of the team too.

So, what happens this week? Does the club sign or upgrade 3 more players to the roster or what?

2025 - 27/30
1. Jahream Bula
2. Charlie Staines
3. Sunia Turuva
4. Justin Olam
5. Starford To'a
6. Lachlan Galvin

9. Apisai Koroisau (c)
10. David Klemmer
11. Samuela Fainu

14. Jayden Sullivan
15. Kit Laulilii
16. Alex Seyfarth
17. Fonua Pole

18. Brent Naden
19. Tallyn Da Silva
20. Luke Laulilii
21. Adam Doueihi
22. Tony Sukkar
23. Jordan Miller
24. Josh Feledy
25. Latu Fainu
26. Solomone Saukuru
27. Chris Faagutu

I assume this is up to date & correct- leaving 3 spots available for next season as it stands.

One of those spots must surely go to Sione Fainu, leaving 2 spots.

Then there is the Utoikamanu position- either he is re-signed or we get a replacement from outside the organisation.

If we cannot move anybody on, I believe we have a dilemma in that we likely lose either Faataape or Rueben Porter if they are not put into the Top 30 for that last spot.

Our reserve squad needs a few hits on the T&T players like Porter, to not only give depth, but also protect the kids on Top 30 contracts from being forced to play before they are ready.

1. Jahream Bula- Will not be released
2. Charlie Staines- Doubtful would be released
3. Sunia Turuva- New Signing
4. Justin Olam- Doubtful would be released
5. Starford To'a- Could have interest elsewhere
6. Lachlan Galvin- Will not be released
7. Jarome Luai- New Signing
8. Alex Twal- Doubtful would be released
9. Apisai Koroisau (c)- Will Not Be Released
10. David Klemmer- Has been offered, low interest

11. Samuela Fainu- Will not be released
12. John Bateman- Apparently offered- UK maybe?
13. Justin Matamua- Might be offered, some interest elsewhere?

14. Jayden Sullivan- Low interest elsewhere AT THIS STAGE

15. Kit Laulilii- Will not be released
16. Alex Seyfarth- Will not be released
17. Fonua Pole- Will not be released

18. Brent Naden- Offered, maybe some interest elsewhere
19. Tallyn Da Silva- Will not be released
20. Luke Laulilii- will not be released
21. Adam Doueihi- will not be released
22. Tony Sukkar- unlikely to be released
23. Jordan Miller- unlikely to be released
24. Josh Feledy- might be easy enough to move?
25. Latu Fainu- will not be released
26. Solomone Saukuru- unlikely to be released
27. Chris Faagutu- unlikely to be released

I would say that the guys I have highlighted are the players MOST LIKELY to be moved on, if we can. Most of the young players are being counted on to be solutions, so I find it hard to believe they would be shipped.

I think Klemmer would be hard to move. Bateman unlikely as well, for mine, as I think he is higher valued than fans give credit for.

Sullivan might get some interest as spine players move about- only so many 1st grade experienced #7's available.

Naden would likely need to move overseas but I'm thinking he likely stays as depth to the squad.

I think the easiest guys to move would be To'a, Feledy & Matamua.

To'a is obviously talented & someone might be tempted to round out their top 20 squad players with him in the mix.

Feledy & Matamua are pretty low-end value players that could fir the 25-30 spots on other teams rosters with little overall financial impact, and that COULD make them tempting for teams looking for talented outcasts.

If the Tigers can move these 3 players & bring in top 17 type players in their stead- along with filling the remaining three spots- we could turn the roster around with minimal fuss.

Players out-
Matamua, Feledy & To'a (Utoikamanu leaves as well). Sezar MO not taken. Tumeth MO not taken.

Players in-
Faataape, Porter, Sione Fainu + 3 guys (for example- Ravalawa, NAS & Hetherington- name your three to please yourself)

I think we need another centre, backrower
If Bateman does not come back & one or two more middles. I would look at aggressive & experienced middles like Bunty Afoa & Nelson Asofa-Solomona if we can release some players and fit
them under the salary cap.

Is there a top 30 list for 2024 ? I know Jack Bird couldn't be announced without dropping one player from the current Top 30. We would need at least 2-3 more players moved - possibly Sullivan, Klemmer, Bateman to be signing any more players for 2025.

Is that an official list

Currently we are sitting at 31 players in our top 30 based on the following:
  • All external signings Luai, Turuva, Skelton, Hunt & Bird included.
  • Sezer not included based on media reports he is off to ESL and Mutual Option won't be activated.
  • Tumeth still included as there has been no word yet on his Player Option or being moved on.
So based on recent info from @kade7 the club has granted opportunity to explore options to 5 players:

Brent Naden
Jayden Sullivan
Brandon Tumeth
Justin Matamua
Solomone Saukuru

Other scuttlebut has John Bateman not wishing to return.

Then IMO it would not surprise if any of Starford To'a, Charlie Staines, Chris Faagutu or Adam Doeuihi find a new home if it meant it created a squad spot for someone we really wanted. I only included Faagutu due to his manager being Isaac Moses & he finished the season in Flegg along with 2 other players reportedly not wanted in Tumeth & Matamua.

So potentially 10 of our top 30 could be moved on to create roster spots that we require. We know 10 is not going to happen so what will be our target number?

Let's say Sione Fainu is extended which I think the club would like to happen. That's 1.

Then from what we can gather, our 1st priority is another experienced middle who oozes effort, line speed & is a defensive/collision beast; 2nd priority another outside back; and then 3rd priority may be a strong experienced defensive backrower or lock/utility depending on the plans for Bird.

So after that diatribe, I'm predicting we'll free up 5 roster spots with those 4 of 5 that Kade suggested the likely outgoings + Bateman.
