Think it needs to be a good defender or they'll get run over.

M'Bye preferably but at this point who knows about his fitness. Talau showed he is still a long way off the finished product defensively in the trials and Madden is still very much an unknown commodity.

I believe you're right. There's a lot to like with Tuki but he won't be rushed.

Halves get more hits off forwards then opposing halves. Being in position is the key, i doubt Talau is quick and flexble enough for this position. Moses is a suspect defender front on. Tamu, Brooks and Mbye spoke highly of Madden, especially his toughness in defence, its obvious who they prefer.

It just depends...Canberra will be a completely different proposition to that Manly trial. And Madden hasn’t played week to week footy in a couple years. I think they will target him constantly.

Had a poor year last year and didn't do much in the trials. CC for Garner round 1 at least for mine.

He was absolute pus last year and did little in the trials, can hardly see how that has him locked in for a gig next week.

With Brooks attacking on both sides of the field this year Garner becomes a lot more dangerous as they link up pretty nicely. At least til Blore heals up Garner should be solid.

Love your optimism re Garner but IMO he's way down the pecking order. Give a young hungry bloke his spot and put a rocket under him. Very disappointing last year.

I think his game could improve if he found that 10kg BJ lost?

Didn't Garner even struggle to put on weight with the club recommended "junk" type diet like that of Leilua's burger one?

He’s still a bigger body - I think body infront , he could cop hits better than madden... Just my opinion though. I’m not talking about long term obviously, just for this weekend

Madge has said he asks opinions from key players. Tamou will no doubt have his ideas taken into account, as he has seen the affect different halves have on the team as a whole after being at the Cowboys and Penrith , and also Brooks will have an input as to what suits his game. He wants to play both sides of the field now, and i'm sure someone on the forum must have some knowledge from watching training drills. Then again coaches don't like giving opposing teams a heads up on team selections. I'm confident in their selections.

Madden's lack of game time is why I would play him this weekend. We may need to rely on him for an extended period during the season so getting him some time this weekend will be of benefit.

Yes, I think the club put him on a dirty diet, but unfortunately it was BJ who gained the weight. ?
Luke’s weight is on the site as 94kg which makes him lighter than Momirovski who has muscled up.
