LIVE GAME Round 1 vs Knights

Live Game Discussion
Has class that you're not used to watching...
That last try was a bad read, but there's more good than bad
we're due a win with an old war horse - But don't speak too soon.
Might be in some trouble too, with the hair pulling...

As long as Seyfarth & Doueihi are in the run on side, we don’t have a first grade team playing.

Some positives, but our lack of depth stands out, as does our lack of any attacking structure.

We had enough ball in attacking zones to win that game 5 times over

I’ll wait and see with a full spine next week. I thought we were solid today. Attack was pedestrian. This team is built for play through the middle off Api. Galvin is a work in progress.

Missed tackles were covered by scramble to some degree. I just think Knights are a finals team and without Bula and Api they are just better.

We need a strike back rower and centre. Seyfarth is an ideal bench player. We had zero answers for speed Ponga, Sharpe, Best.

The question is does Benji have the balls to move Galvin and play Latu at 5/8 we all know it needs to happen.
Galvin will have a dummy spit and ask for a release.
I see Galvin as a 13 not a 6
Did you see his tackle attempts … #13 I don’t think so

There’s some positives and a lot of negatives. We faded and again handling errors just put too much pressure on our defence.

The amount of missed tackles is a concern but at times our line speed and contact were improved.

Luai is just a competitor. He directed well and looked like one of our most dangerous players in attack.

I thought Galvin was poor. Took the wrong options, poor execution and panicked at times.

TDS was great in defence and looked sharp in attack.

I don’t know how to react to this game really. Some positives and negatives but ultimately I’m frustrated because it’s another game we should have won that we pissed away.

Typical Tigers performance really in that sense.

Those are the games we need to be winning to get out of this rut. I'm disappointed, but we got something to work with.
Bula, Olam, Api in the team; we win comfortably.
Standout = Bird.
Loving = Having 2 wingers that can get us out of trouble.
I don’t know how much we have to work with. I think our backs are so slow even if we fix our attacking shapes it won’t make that much difference. We’ll be relying on Skelton and Douhie to power over defenders as opposed to beating defenders with pace and skill.

This is exactly why we should have played out strongest team in the second trial, Got that shit performance out of the way ! Looked like strangers out there, especially in attack !!!
In all honesty we should have won that game even though it was a substandard performance. Knights will surprise they can defend well. No weak links.

Tell me your creditianls for assessing same? If you haven’t played there you have no idea. Both our halves had decent games. Getting used to each other. If you haven’t played in a back line then I suggest you hold your lip.
I mean, I'm not Cooper Cronk or JT but I noticed Galvin overplaying every set.. so did most people on the forums judging by other peoples comments?
I'm a big fan of Galvin and hope he does well, but the kid needs to take a backseat to Luia and stop trying to score on every single play.
Keen to see them together with Api and Bula though, could be the difference maker.

Absolutely correct TT. As I said long and loud they needed at least one run together.
Well, they’ve now had that so let’s see what happens next week.
And for those wanting Douehi out, I think his goal kicking might save him, for now.

That 2nd half was absolutely atrocious, the signs were there at the end of the 1st half. 50 odd missed tackles not even remotely good enough. Galvin had a shocker but i thought Luai should have taken more control. We are in desperate need of a strike centre and a serviceable second rower. When's Taylans case heard 😐 Obviously the fluff of the army camp is well and truly in the back of the mind cause they didnt turn up for one another.
On the positive Api and Bula should make a huge difference but we could have won that easily but same old same old.

This is our issue. Our points will come off Api, May and Bula through the middle. Close range plays from Luai and Galvin. We have zero long distance threats.

Although I thought Skelton had a good strong game and maybe he needs to be in the centres.

The criticism of Galvin reminds me of the criticism of Moses. We lost a great one there.

Lets not do it again 🙂 Give him time.

When the half is quiet and not involved, we call for him to be involved. When he's in everything he can be in, he's doing too much.

Luai was great, but he should have been guiding Galvin.
