LIVE GAME Round 11 vs. Dolphins

Live Game Discussion
Being on the positive side, we were without our two highest paid 2nd rowers, we lost both centres for 20 minutes, and a makeshift pack of forwards.
I think we did well to stay in the game as long as we did.
I thought Fainu, Api, Pole and Seyfarth played their hearts out along with Galvin's defence and limited attack opportunities.
Next year; with a better half and centre? Plus a couple more decent recruits we will win these type of games.
The bench was excellent yesterday. Shoutout to Big Stef who I thought was good. Seyfarth, Pole and Fainu all very good. Api's decision making last night was poor for me

A few positives for us. 1 Alamolo showed he should be our winger for rest of year.
2 - Sam Fainu has locked up an edge spot - we need to attack more down that side. This means Papali can play lock when he returns which he showed great signs against Knights.
3 - Sione Fainu showed promise. He showed more creativity in 1 game than Twal has all year. A few offloads and if we can teach Bula to get off him that’s a good thing. He and Pole provide real impact off the bench. Should persist.
Lifetime contract for the Fainu bros. now. If one leaves, others will be tempted

Tonight was more of the same we have seen in the last few games. Our very poor roster, especially depth wise, has left us playing players that really aren’t up to regular & consistent week in week out NRL standards. A team devoid of match winning players like ours relies on every player playing at their absolute best so each week the same below par players make dumb errors that ultimately cost us.
Naden, Staines, Sullivan, AJ were the main culprits again. They drag down whatever hard work and effort is delivered by the rest. We aren’t a good enough squad to carry these guys and their repeated stuff ups.
Some of the ill disciplined stupidity really is inexcusable.
Tonight we tried hard but simply just weren’t good enough in key positions. The effort from most of our guys is there but there are just too many weaknesses in our squad.
To say it’s the coaching not the players is not right in my view.
The coach picked the four

Certainly not good for mental health, that's for sure.

I stupidly let myself get excited about 10 weeks ago.
The old Board had been chucked out and Richo had signed on.
We're getting Luai next year.
Benji the Living Legend as coach with a directive for our team to play eyes up [exciting?] footy.
We WON 2 games, and I thought "how good is this" after so many years of turmoil.
I sent away my $$$ for membership.
And then..................................................................................................................................................................nothing but f'n 💩.

I followed Wests Magpies for 40 years before the WT started up, now another 24 years....... with 1 f'n Premiership in 64 f'n years....... and I can't see anything positive on the horizon.

At 77 yoa, when everything that was once good and positive has vaporised, leaving nothing but the footy to get excited about, and even that is not there atm, I think sadly, this old dudes time on earth may well be close to an end.
Mate learn to love the Broncos

For all the craziness of the Naden it didn't cost us the game. We can't score points and that comes down to our attack not being good enough and that's not the players that's the attacking structures
If Robbie is the attacking coach (coz I don't really know) and we are like this then we need an upgrade - there should be attacking structures and play off the cuff (what you see in front of you) but first things first is the attacking structure should be followed then off the cuff if it presents itself but our entire squad should be drilled that they should always be ready when this happens... Galvin kicked and nobody knew what he was doing but they should always be ready for that and react - ok the kick went out dead but even if it didn't go out dead, there was no one there to tackle the player bringing out of their goal line, that's how poor it was - at least again be ready for it no matter what happens - it's just frustrating

Seriously, the Fox commentators are not out to get us. Even if they were, they have no bearing on our poor performances.
Yeah, I used to think they were against us too but I've come realise they will have a go at whoever is playing the shitest. Sadly it's us most if the time. What do people expect commentator's to say, "Good on you Naden for missing 20 tackles', Pat yourself on the back Klemmer for giving away another stupid penalty'. If we play better footy, we will get more positivity from the media. We are our own worst enemy and need to get over ourselves and point the finger at ourselves for a while.

Yep I agree.

Here are my key negatives & postives from both NRL & NSW Cup ...

Negatives

1 - Brent Naden, say no more.
2 - Our other low lQ players namely AJ Kepaoa.
3 - Last tackle options, looking at Api, Bud & lesser extent Lachie. As part of this our general kicking game is woeful. Also blind freddy can see we have an option to do cross field kicks to Alaimalo.
4 - Use of Api. We'd get better value from both he & Jake if Api was subbed at about the 30 min mark & returns about 10 min into 2nd half.
5 - Attacking structure, particularly halves not digging into the line, few players in motion & lack of use of our back rowers particularly Sam Fainu is bordering on criminal.

Positives

1 - The impact that Olam can have when given ball.
2 - Samuela Fainu, though should be used more as an attacking threat.
3 - Stef, Klemmer, Pole.
4 - Despite the loss in Cup, I do think that Kit Laulilii, Josh Feledy, Jordan Miller & Alex Lobb have been progressing well the past few weeks.
5 - Lachlan Broederlow in NSW Cup, looks our most promising backrower coming up through the grades.
6 - The value of Declan Casey to our Cup team, would not be surprised at all if he replaces Naden this week.

We'd at least be competitive
No way would we be more competitive with 17 play players on the field.

There would be 30% more players which would amount to:

30% more penalties conceded
30% more 6 agains
30% more missed tackles
30% more errors
30% more tries conceded
Just 30% more brain dead plays in general

Which brings me to the old adage of less is more, which I am beginning to believe is correct, because the last 2 games we have probably performed better when we have had 2 players in the bin.

Olam looking at a week if he pleads guilty after the dbags in the judiciary charged him.I couldn't give a rats about Nadens suspension as he deserves it and more for stupidity but Olam is being very hard done by imho.Business as usual under Anusley and his clown show

Kick chase - horrendous.

Kicks you mean. Bud doesn't get under the ball, he
sucks, you see it at training, he's not miss-kicking
it he's just not kicking it with any power/high enough.
Don't know why Benji hasn't given Galvin the damn
responsibility already yet, he's got a booming boot.

Ffs this thread... if only one thing was different hey? insert name of player or ref here.

We have been a shit team for all of Bula and Galvin's life bar a couple of years. Put them in a good team and you have the equivalent of other young guns. Now I'm reading we can't carry Pole? Well then we sure as [This word has been automatically removed] can't carry Klemmer or Twal.

Look, we suck. Every week is a train wreck in its own special way I get it. The fans just piling on the few bright spots in our team doesn't make sense to me.
I like Pole but his lateral movement in the defensive line is really poor and his reading of the game is off. He's been costing us all year. Absolutely he'd look great in a good team, but his defensive lapses are worse than our other props at the moment and it's just a big liability. He's also just not a very good tackler. I'm not saying to get rid of him, as you say, he's one of our few bright spots. But his defense is a concern and it's been critical in key moments this year.

So far we've had Dud Sullivan, The Anti-Sezer, and recent convert to the Tigers style Lachlan Galvin. Latu Fainu please be good. At this rate Doueihi will get a run
Well we couldn’t do any worse, and who knows, he may just add something although I’m not exactly sure what ?

Really getting sick of the Twal crash plays in the red zone.

Haven't they worked out yet that there is a reason it took over a hundred games to score his first try and that there hasn't been one since.
A slight breeze would knock Twal over. He's seems way too top heavy.

Other teams have boofhead props scoring tries every couple of games. Twal flops on a ball once in 100 plus games having died with the ball on the fifth a thousand times. Unfortunately that is where the standard of our regulars is at.

Communication must have been missing last night too. First half we went to Klem on play 5 and second half Seyfarth. That’s on the halves. API should be in no doubt were the ball needs to be going.

Couldn’t agree more Re: API and getting him a spell during the game. We want him fresh at that 60m mark where we have been in games last few weeks and fatigue starts to factor in the middle. Simpkin is solid enough for a 10 - 15 minute stint there somewhere
