LIVE GAME Round 12 vs. Cowboys

Live Game Discussion
Did not see the whole 80, but Sullivan looked good to me, and I thought he looked more controlled and dangerous than Galvin
I wouldn't say good. His kicking game last night was, for the most part; terrible. Poorly placed or not high enough

He needs to either kick for the seagulls or.for players. Kicking it to an opposition player under.no pressure is a waste.

He at least.dig into the line a few times so is starting to find his feet. He shows glimpses of quality, but fir the most part is bog average. He is still young for a half so has development potential but he isn't FG material in any other club.

The little things really get to me. Like our kick-offs. Something so simple but we land it on the 10 metre line so the opposition are at their 20 tackle one. We catch ours near the dead ball line and play one is on our 10. Straight away we begin to lose the field position battle. That stuff that is easily recognised and fixed really gets to me. The old saying really is true, "it's a game if inches". We don't fight for every inch.
I see this as well. It’s every kick off. I don’t think we have a player that can kick it to the oppositions try line?

And here's a basic coaching tip for Benji.
Can we stop giving Klemmer the hit up off the kick off. The old man gets smashed at the 10 metre mark every time. He makes a really good angry face but that doesn't seem to stop the opposition having their way with the fossil every freakin' time.
Where are those podcasters with a no more Klemmer petition?
Buy him a BBQ and piss him right off

Bula was better than drink water tonight
Please have a look at the below stats and tell me Bula had a better game. You’re judging it on a couple of half arsed tackle attempts when we were scoring. I tell you what, I’ll take the fullback that makes a couple of mistakes but can generate that sort of output over a bloke that does next to nothing. Those stats from Bula are sickening.

Drinkwater : 3 try assists, 5 tackles (3 missed), 8 tackle busts, 4 line break assists, 1 40/20, 11 runs, 1 error

Bula: 1 try, 5 tackles (1 missed), 0 tackle busts (yes zero!), 0 line breaks, 0 40/20, 0 line break assists, 10 runs, 0 errors

He is not a 1/2 back , he’s like brooks , better been a 5/8 , he can’t direct a team around the park . But his defence last night was very good

100%.
Benji is supposed to have Sheens with him this year, wiping his arse.
I couldn’t believe it when they sacked Madge to replace him with Sheens and Benji but that was nothing compared to sacking Sheens and elevating Benji to head coach.
It’s THE most unwarranted coaching appointment I can think of.
We haven't had a roster since before Cleary that any coach could be reasonably sacked for. However the push back from fans is generally that they know better than a losing coach and another coach would come in and unearth some magic on a limited playing group despite the obvious weaknesses of the players they bag every week. The magic wand fix is a much easier solution for most, than dealing with the reality. Benji will wear the same scrutiny as an experienced coach, and his inexperience is the fuel to ignite it

I can’t get a handle on bula , he is a talent , but is he lazy or is he just a slow learner, he has been in 1st grade now for a year but I don’t see any real improvement, last night he ran down Dearden but his tackle was that of a kid playing his 1st game it was terrible, think his best position is either winger or maybe centre

Think this photo is the biggest thing to be proud of as a tigers fan. 1 minute to go, nothing on the line, game over and yet we still decided to chase and not just one or two players but 7 jerseys can be seen. If anything effort is there.
Sorry mate, but this is 1st grade, that should be the bare minimum required. And a photo of the next play will show Holmes going in untouched.

I think many on here feel a bit better about last night because we finally scored a few points. Better than the dour crap we’ve been watching.

But let’s not kid ourselves, last night was still a disgrace. The Cowboys have lost 4 of their last 5, they had an off night and still put 40 on us. We’ve lost 8 in a row. Pride isn’t a word I’m associating with the club at the moment. Hopefully in the future but they have to deserve that accolade.

I thougnt he was far too sideways again and doesn't dig into the line enough.

It was unfortunately a match-changing play where Bud got the ball open-side, switched the play with nobody ready for it and threw a hospital to Declan Casey. 20-16 at the time, Cowboys go on to score 2 straight and basically end the match.
I reckon the entire side runs way too sideways. None of them ever straighten other then throwing an under ball when they’re almost over the sideline which is hardly going to surprise defence.

Unfortunately i think it’s a bit of both.

I think a roaming centre spot might be the best option. I’ve lost confidence in pinning our mast to him for the next 5 years in such a vital spot.

Another example of our poor forum standard is the praise for Alaimalo on here this morning and last night.
Feldt put two tries on him that should never have been scored and people think he played well?
He lost the game in the first 20 minutes by himself.
He's been just as bad in reserve grade.
Do we have no standards at all?

Well of course it will be.
I always said we’ll see what Benji has when the going gets tough I.e. injuries and suspensions as our depth is as shallow as a puddle. He has no experience to fall back on. No bag of tricks to search through for answers.
No one was expecting miracles this year bar a few but 2 & 9 is pathetic and after next week’s bye we go on a 12 week run of games v some very good squads.
  • Rd 13 We have the bye leading into Origin 1 so no advantage there.
  • Rd 14 We get St George after Origin 1 who will likely be at full strength with only Ben Hunt backing up?
  • Rd 15 Titans may be our only winnable game but they are due some luck.
  • Rd 16 Raiders leading into Origin 2.
  • Rd 17 Roosters after Origin how many backing up?
  • Rd 18 Storm.
  • Rd 19 Sharks leading into Origin 3
  • Rd 20 Rabbits after Origin. Not many backing up.
  • Rd 21 Warriors
  • Rd 22 Cowboys
  • Rd 23 Knights
  • Rd 24 Rabbits
  • Rd 25 Manly
  • Rd 26 Bye
  • Rd 27 Parramatta
Tough 4 months ahead.

Taking a check of the confidence levels regarding Alamalo?

haven’t seen an NRL player close his eyes attempting to take a bomb before …. Few more might be headed his way
I like his style where he turns to face his goal line when he goes to catch a bomb.

Pretty smart, so when he drops the ball it ends up being a knock back.

Not watching, but I'm reading all the posts. Love it, heaps more entertaining
Love reading the Live Game thread after the game is done, I like taking the game in without any distractions so I don't miss any of the stupidity and incompetence that is on display.

My favourite thread each and every week. 😍 😍 😍

Seeing everyone vent makes me feel so much better knowing that I am not on my own.
