LIVE GAME Round 13 v Cowboys

Live Game Discussion
There is a stats man on this forum. I will ask him whoever he is becuase i cant remember to see if we have ever won a game with Jaradd Sutton with the whistle in hand. He shut us out in ths 1st half, we made mistakes yes but when we got a roll on he put the pea away. He should have given us atleast 5 or 6 repeat sets and 3 penaltys to us. Who ever you are stat man please check. Thankyou

Less than average but not diabolically so.

I was at the pub and the sound wasn’t great. The last kick to Drinky - it looked like he used the ground to catch it so was knock on. Was this what the commentators said or he regained it?
They said someth8ing like "oh great effort to catch that...or wait, did he? Hang on!" But the play moved on and they didn't mention it again.

If there was a review I am pretty sure they would have called knock-on because I agree he used the ground to gain final control.

The commentators have public liability for such incidents as you mention.

agree . It’s what the rule was brought in for ….

Agree with me or not but I had no issue with Luai and Douhei going to the bin. If they were playing for the opposition we would have been calling for there heads. The only one I did disagree with was the Nandi try. Thought whoever was underneath impacted Turuvas ability to compete for the ball.
I agreed with the Nanai try call. The Cowboys player had his eyes on the ball the whole time - you have to maintain the chance for the attack to compete on bombs too imo.

It is possible he had good awareness of Turuva and used it to his advantage, but to me as long as they keep their eyes on the ball and aren't obviously just looking up and trying to take the defender out I don't have an issue with it.

I don't want it to get too stupid like players basically getting a free kick on the sixth is becoming. Seriously, it's in danger of getting like the NFL where if you cause a zephyr as you run past the punter he'll fall down and get a flag (penalty).

But by the same token, I think Turuva should've made a token effort and more of the contact instead of trying to catch what became near impossible to.

Ive got be honest, I didn't see the whole game, but this is why quite a few on here were very concerned in Round 1 V Knights. There were plenty on here that were happy with the scramble defence despit 50 odd missed tackles. I said it then and I'll say it now again, it is not sustainable to scramble all game. As you say the first contact needs to be far better.

First contact, dominate the tackle, get your defence set. Why has that always been such a problem for this club??? It feels like our goal line defence is better this year, but it's the roll on up the field that puts us on the back foot all the time and it does my head in.
Yes you were right then as you are now.
The same people who have been sulking about the refs for the past umpteen pages are the same ones who piled on to anyone who said the defence was atrocious in that rd1 game.
It hasn’t been fixed. It isn’t even improving. It’s just that individuals are at times performing well.
As a group, a team…it’s up to shit still.

So - who do we talk too? That's the thing.

Yeah the point is they are saying becuse laybutt was Looking for the ball he is not responsible for his actions .. so was douhri and he was held responsible..
Doueihi knew exactly what he was doing. I noticed it live and immediately said you idiot. It was blatant.
The Nanai try was different. I think that centre - who is a bloody woeful player - genuinely stuffed up the timing of his leap.
That said, it really shouldn’t have been awarded as Turuva was given no chance to compete.

What's so frustrating is the way we played the last 15 mins we would have towelled up virtually every team in the comp
If we could produce that for say 60 out of the 80 mins we would win most games .The 2 sin bins didn't help but it seems we have to be down by plenty to flick the switch and turn on the razzle dazzle !
It looked good but it wasn’t so impressive that it would rip most teams defences apart.
Cowboys have a bottom 4 defence, had 4 blokes backing up from Origin and also clocked off far too early.
Let’s see what they can do against Penrith who are also really struggling with their defence this year.

Lucky we not struggling. Scored 20 points in 10 minutes. But at this stage i prefer the bottom 4 defence if it means 2 points. Depends on your version of struggling I guess. The Penrith version, Brisbane version or our version.

They’re all struggling. The game have largely been crap this year.
People are celebrating us only going down by 4 when the score was 32-28 LOL.
That’s an SG Ball Scoreline.
