LIVE GAME Round 13 v Cowboys

Live Game Discussion
Doueihi knew exactly what he was doing. I noticed it live and immediately said you idiot. It was blatant.
The Nanai try was different. I think that centre - who is a bloody woeful player - genuinely stuffed up the timing of his leap.
That said, it really shouldn’t have been awarded as Turuva was given no chance to compete.

Nanai also didn’t have both feet behind the kicker.
Add insult into injury and 3 play the balls prior the cowboys player fell over playing the ball which 9/10 games this year results into a turn over.

We didn’t deserve to win but the Cowboys got their share of 50/50 calls that set alone.

I agreed with the Nanai try call. The Cowboys player had his eyes on the ball the whole time - you have to maintain the chance for the attack to compete on bombs too imo.

It is possible he had good awareness of Turuva and used it to his advantage, but to me as long as they keep their eyes on the ball and aren't obviously just looking up and trying to take the defender out I don't have an issue with it.

I don't want it to get too stupid like players basically getting a free kick on the sixth is becoming. Seriously, it's in danger of getting like the NFL where if you cause a zephyr as you run past the punter he'll fall down and get a flag (penalty).

But by the same token, I think Turuva should've made a token effort and more of the contact instead of trying to catch what became near impossible to.
Yea fair enough . I was 50/50 as well . The issue which I didn’t even realise is that it went up no try . And because of this , how anyone can be positive one way or the other on that enough to overturn one way or the other the on field call … I mean yea. To that , I say Benji has a point .
But man we were bad for 65 minutes on Saturday . You can’t defend like that .

so Nanai was on report for a crusher tackle on Mason and Thompson on the Knights game was on report for the same thing... Leo suspended for 4 matches and Nanai - nothing? just a fine? What the hell? If you look at both incidents/tackle - it's bloody the same thing - both put pressure on the head and Nanai looked worse than Leo's - what's the MRC looking at? the penalty should be the same looking at both incidents.

There’s only the one explanation;
Nanai plays Origin in the squad who are struggling currently.
It’s the cash cow and the NRL protects it as much as possible.

I agree with you, that is true... Leo's penalty should be a fine as well - we just ask for fairness, it's just so frustrating with the MRC

As he got more involved I really liked Heath Mason's involvement, his ball playing is limited at the moment and kicking game, but there was a lot to like, especially taking on the line, apparently he played 6 in schoolboys and the Team they beat in the final was Galvin's team by 40? Bula tried so hard in every way to prevent tries and create them. If we are going to be a top 4 Team, we need another big aggressive ball runner on the edge, Seyfarth tries but he isn't that X factor

Nanai will be playing for QLD …. that’s your difference.

Not like you to get into these conspiracies. But seems about right.
Origin has become this big circus that’s grown out of control.
It used to be a state based grudge match supposedly used as a trial for the Kangaroos. Now it’s full of blokes pledging allegiance to other countries.
I always liked it as it was different to club games….it was more R rated for want of a better description. The rules are more lenient, the interpretations more relaxed. The refs let play happen a lot more. It’s pantomime now. It’s a performance. No fighting, no hate.
Players are excused as much as possible so that they can play in it because it rakes in so much money.

Nanai was grade 1 and Thompson was grade 2. Clear difference is Thompson re-gripped to get into the crusher position where as Nanai did not and significant difference in force applied.
More importantly Thompson's was 3rd offence so he copped loading

I don't know mate, we will agree to disagree - I still think Nanai was way worse than Thompson, he had his whole body pressing on Mason's head while Thompson slipped quite quickly... it is what it is.

Turned it off when Luai was binned.

The only consistent thing in this game is the inconsistency of the officials. Name another team that has had a player binned inside of the first 12 minutes for "repeated" ruck infringements.
