Interesting side.

Still not sold on White anywhere in the side. But I guess with Matty Parata injured it limits the options.

Hope Steve Moses's comeback is better than his last one V Wests and lasts longer.

Webster has really been going well whenever given the opportunity
 
Hopefully the Tigers repeat what they did to Shellharbour at Leichardt earlier this season.
 
A win will be good enough. They are hitting some form and have taken some big scalps.

There are whispers around the traps that Jeremy Smith may be making his comeback from injury as well
 
Webster was really trying to pump up the team in the second half, when they were down last Sunday. I thought Brett Lane had a good game ….that take on the corner when he scored his try was unbelieveable.

As the Wests Tigers catch cry goes....this is a must win game , if BRET really want to try to get a home final.

Shellharbour have been very inconsistent all year, and hopefully they play as bad as they did at Leichhardt when BRET thrashed them 46 Nil.The same can be said of Balmain though, and they have to play a lot better than last week.

I noticed Webster went into Hooker for Carr and really tried to pump the side up. His defence has been really good. Can't see why he doesn't get more game time.

Jarvan White leaves me cold. He had a poor game on the weekend. Lane went really well I'd be putting him on the wing and sticking White on the bench. Move Ryan or Webster to the second row.

Must be injured Smeg as I saw him out the front of the SFS , and told him that the Tigers are a great bunch of blokes to play with next year…he hasn't resigned with the Dragons yet, has he?

Yes that was the final score.

A tough game . We had only 17 players available. There was an issue with the doctor arriving late so we had players getting needles minutes before kick off and in the case of Lee Bennett he was actually not on field for the first few sets of the game because of this.

It was an arm wrestle and the Tiger were not really on so to speak. I am not going to single out any players as bad performers.

Anyway we were down by 8 with 10 to go. A fight broke out, Priddis came in as 3rd man and Meaney gave him the belting the has been deserved. With players in the bin BRET found their feet. Brett Lane got a great try flirting with the sideline as well.

Dean Webster got players player I think.

Also coach Fletcher was offered the opportunity to play the Sharks on the same day as the NRL squad does but declined as we need to rest players and get others back on board. That and the 10:30 am slot is not a great one.

Bad news with Willie Mataka suffering a suspected fractured eye socket/cheekbone and bleeding from behind the eye early on in the game.

Good effort and great to be back in the winners circle
 
Oh also watch Mr Mcguiness and Mr Crocker lead the Red Devils to a belting over the Shellharbour sharks

Crockett and McGuiness are scoring plenty for Wests this season.

That's a good win for BRET but bad news for Mataka. Hope he recovers well.
 
Thanks for the great report Smeg….but it looks like the road for BRET is getting tougher. Three tries to Hanbury ...good on him

good to see hanbury scoring 3 tries. if the mouse is injured than maybe hanbury should take his spot. moltzen should probably stay at halfback…
 
Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers vs Dragons
Round 19 - NSW State Cup
In terms of nail biters, Sundays NSW Cup match between the Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers and the Shellharbour Dragons had the crowd gnawing to their knuckles. The fiery back and forth match went down to the wire with the Dragons final play holding weight in their attempt to snatch the win from the Tigers, who managed to win 30 - 24 in a sensational comeback.
The Dragons took the first points of the match when they drew the Tigers midfield then spread the ball wide to centre Nick Emmett who crossed through the gap, 0 - 4\. However Rhys Hanbury tied the match 4 - 4, 4 minutes later, when the opposite number 4 scored in the corner after receiving a nice inside ball which was spread through 4 sets of hands. Unfortunately he only scored 3 tries on the day.

The game was clawed in the Tigers favour by the end of the first half, but only barely. The Dragons had the pressure in attack, but their defence lacked anticipation as they were caught again on the wing when they didn't move across and David Gower scored for Balmain in the corner off a long Sean Meaney pass. However the Tigers received the same punishment after penalties gave the Dragons 3 sets on their line and Emmett took his second, 10 - 8.
But the second half was where the real arm-wrestle exploded. The Dragons scored first to retake the lead by 2 points, but only for 3 sets as the Tigers hit back with an amazing 60 metre try which started with Jarred Farlow and passed through 5 sets of hands to finish with Ryan Carr to score, 16 - 12.

But when the Dragons scored twice to get get 8 points in front, the first by winger Tim Smith, and the second by fullback Michael Lett, it looked like the Dragons might be able to get themselves off the bottom of the table with a win.
But when a push and shove sent 2 players to the sin bin, the Tigers attacked like men possessed. 8 points behind with 10 minutes to go Brett Lane crossed first in the corner off a long pass to the wing caught the Dragons unaware. Then Rhys Hanbury brought it home, finishing off 2 brilliant tries the last off a 50 metre break which Josh Lewis then kicked from dummy half across field to leave Hanbury unopposed, 30 - 24\. The struggle and anticipation had fans standing on their seats and honking car horns as the one converted try difference meant that even as the whistle blew during the last play on the Tigers line it was still anyones game.

Tigers coach Paul Fletcher was thrilled by his teams tenacity as he walked into the changerooms and the elation of the team. "We had a rough start, but the team pulled their heads together to really battle this one out. Webby (Dean Webster) had a blinder, but the way all the team worked together, those tries were never going to be stopped… overall really impressed by their fight."

Next week the Tigers have a break which with their increasing injury list is sorely needed as they head towards the finals.
