Agree that we have additional flexibility with Api under the new rules.

It would be good to get to a few big leads this year and not have Api trying to do everything.

I agree and I think we will be making a mistake by playing Api for 80mins.
I reckon there is even the possibility that Tristan Hope replaces Api and we still use Jock Madden as a 1st receiver playmaking 13 which would mean one of our bench forwards miss out.
If we can fatigue the Cowboys big men, Madden creating more time and space for Doueih, Luai and Bula on our edges could be too much for the Cowboys defence to handle..
There are lots of variables as Skelton might not be quite ready to play 80mins, but could provide us with plenty of size and power in a shorter stint.
Then of course if we are losing the yardage battle and fatiguing in the middle we will need and be hoping our 3 forward bench middles can all come on and make a positive impact.

I can only see Api going the distance if possession is heavily our way and we are rolling. No reason to take him off if he’s not being over-worked.

But that’s not common.

I have no inside knowledge but this season I cannot see Api an 80 minute player, especially with a 6 man bench option.

I always find the Leichhardt crowd can take a bit to warm up. Particularly if we have a slow start or the ref refuses to blow penalties to us. Hopefully it’s rocking from early on Saturday.

In fairness, Luke had a great game in the trials and Skeleton hasn't had any game time yet.

All I can say is that Luke Lualii must have improved dramatically . I remain totally unconvinced

I would like to see it too, but it should have been done though the trials. Benji appears to be all in on AD as a 7 and rotating playmakers is not usually a recipe for success. Unless AD or Luai or an outside back go down that requires a halves reshuffle I don't want to see Madden on the park. Api not playing 80 already impacts our middle rotation so we really only have three to rotate and one of those is an impact player. Hope may well be used in the rotation apart from Api as he is cetainly fit enough and him running about as a 13 in the trial may be how he will be employed.

Understood; however, that being the case carrying Skelton makes no sense as we have the ability with Madden to shuffle to cover an injury to an outside back. As a result we could be running a hooker, half and four middles - that gives us flexibility and we could probaby run Charlie as a middle and hooker if need be, although we have that potential, with less productivity with Hope as well.

I know that seems somewhat logical given Doueihi is a much bigger body than Jock Madden.
But as a few of our forum members have already mentioned, it can be a bit chaotic changing a 7 throughout the game unless it’s forced by injury.
This is why I think it’s very possible Jock Madden plays a bit of 13.
His lack of size would no doubt be a concern defensively, but the added attacking threat with him digging deep into the line and providing good opportunities for our edges could help us fatigue the opposing defence and give us plenty of good field position along the way.

It could certainly work to our advantage either way, but I just get the feeling we will not change our 7 throughout the game.

Will be strong out of the backfield . If they come out like they did against Newcastle , they’re in trouble . We are much better than Newcastle rucking it out. Best is lazy , and the big Englishman is ineffective . Granted they have marzhew though. And they killed the cowboys through the middle .
Gonna be hard going early though, with a return to form taumalolo and cotter . As long as the line speed they showed in the trials is there we should be alright . You get big T on his back , then you go a very long way to killing the cowboys. They get on the front foot , drink water will burn us .

Yes, 14 is only a number, doesn't necessarily mean he will be used as one of the 17 although I suspect he will most likely be used at some stage.

Will be interesting to see how Benji uses the bench because many including myself have been critical of how he has used it in the past.
