The NRL has today announced the final six rounds of the 2014 competition, with a change in venue for Wests Tigers’ Round 23 game against the Roosters.
>
The game was originally scheduled to be played on Monday night at ANZ Stadium, and will now instead be at Leichhardt Oval at 7.30pm on Saturday 16 August.
>
Wests Tigers CEO Grant Mayer said that the Club is working hard to ensure that the needs of Members and Corporate Partners are met over the final six rounds of the 2014 NRL competition.
>
“This morning’s announcement has now given us some exciting yet challenging events to deliver over the closing rounds of the 2014 Premiership,” said Mayer. “First and foremost, the Simon Dwyer Tribute Match in Round 21 wraps up a very special weekend for Simon and the Club. The weekend starts with a fundraising dinner at Wests Campbelltown on Friday August 1\. On the Monday night fans will have the opportunity to come out and support Simon with the club donating $5 per ticket to a special fund for Simon.
>
“The players are set to wear a special commemorative jersey and a limited edition T-shirt will be available on the night,” he said. “Despite a difficult time slot, the club is hopeful that this special cause will entice a big crowd to join us at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.”
>
Tickets for the Simon Dwyer Tribute Dinner are $120 each and available through ProTicket or by calling (02) 4915 2345, with the evening to feature a number of special guests including Mick Potter, members of the Wests Tigers NRL squad, Beau Ryan and Brad Fittler.
>
Mayer said that the rescheduling of the Club’s Round 23 game against the Roosters to Leichhardt Oval has created a number of challenges that are all currently being worked through.
>
“Event scheduling and venue availability has been an issue for the game and the broadcasters for this round but we have managed to retain a home ground advantage for this event,” said Mayer. “When making this determination, the NRL have taken in to consideration a range of issues but the servicing of 5500 Wests Tigers Members and hundreds of corporate guests who had access to ANZ was the number one priority. Geographically and logistically, Leichhardt Oval became the logical choice.
>
“The Club has held numerous discussions with the NRL about this change and we have been forthright in our position that the Club and its stakeholders could not be disadvantaged by the relocation,” he said. “We’ll be in contact with all Members affected by this change in the coming week and will release tickets for sale on Monday July 14\. Members with access to ANZ Stadium will be seated according to their current package, while Members who do not currently have access to this game but would like to attend will be given a priority booking period before the general on sale date.”
>
The Club will return to Leichhardt Oval in Round 26, finishing off the regular season with a clash against the Sharks.
>
“Round 26 will be a genuine celebration for our Members, Corporate Partners and fans as a whole,” said Mayer. Whilst it would be fantastic to have nailed down a top eight position well before this game, Round 26 may be important for a number of reasons. Saturday afternoon football will be a challenge for many families but we are confident that you will all be there to support your team on home soil for the last time in 2014.”
>
Members who have questions regarding the rescheduling of the Round 23 game will be contacted by the Club, but can also get in touch on (02) 8741 3300 or <membership@weststigers.com.au>.

Wow, gold seats at Leichhardt! Not bad at all!!</membership@weststigers.com.au>

When will many realise that this love affair that many have for Liechardt oval is not shared by every body as far as we are concerned the ground is an old worn out CRAP hole . As we are going to receive only 3 of 4 games that we HAVE already paid for compensation will need to be forthcoming …to be honest I don,t care who is responsible, actually if they could of went to Parra stadium we probable would of been ok with that.

I definitely think the people (like myself) who love Leichhardt are in the overwhelming majority.

Well they should have consulted you about what stadium to go to then shouldn't they, because every Wests Tigers fan would be very happy about taking a home game to Parramatta Stadium…..

Yes especially when they were expecting 30 k + to the game so that is around over 12 thousand Westigers fans that could not attend one word on this Selfisness that is what Liechardt oval is I am all right JACK!

Where did you hear they were expecting 30,000?
Part of the move was due to only 5,500 Tigers members having the ANZ Stadium option.

Unless we are going to pull a crowd of 50,000 (like the Eels game) then ANZ stadium is a complete shit-hole to watch games at. It's too [This word has been automatically removed]ing big, you spend most of the game watching the screen.

Does this mean , being a Claws LO member that we get 5 games now instead of the 4? I hope so because we can't make the last game.

Bit of a problem for the club with numbered seating to accommodate gold/silver ANZ members already. It would be good PR if those with LO only packages were given a bonus game (all general admission), but then you would have disgruntled CSS only members, so where does it end.

I cannot see it happening.

Ok. Great thanks for that. I was just wondering. It's fair enough that the ANZ members get their game instead of us getting an extra one.
