LIVE GAME Round 27 v Panthers

Live Game Discussion
Man im pumped after that game. There is so much wrong with this team, especially defensively, but that can be easily fixed with the right defensive coach. But what has me excited is today we finally saw what our attack looks like with 2 halves that play straight. For 2 years we have fumbled around with halves that cant ball play and cant play straight. Today in the 2nd half, we saw a completely different vibe with the team from the first set of 6 with Jock at 7 and Latu at 6. That is the first time in 3 years we have seen Latu play 6 on the left, the spot he played all his juniors. If you have doubts about what he did today, go and watch again closely and just look at the space he created for outside men by really subtle body movements. The kid is the best young 6 the game has produced on the last 10 to 15 years. His outside men are going to love him. Once he gets game time and confidence, he will take this club to the top. I have followed him since he was 15. This guy is better than any junior out there. Today he took Penrith apart after having played no footy all year, and no games at 5/8 in 3 years.....ok, so taking Penrith apart is a stretch, but im excited, so forgive me.

Great to see Latu have a go this kid is something special if only he can string a few games together build on match fitness and have some luck with injuries.

I’ve always been a big fan of Latu …. But his injuries have been a killer … I don’t know what kinda deal they offer him .. you don’t want to be stuck on a long term deal paying him big coin ..

Absolutely I just hope Benji plays him at 6 and not at seven

I don't think we're as bad as some of the doomsday preppers think.

A few of our best players this year are;
KPP, Twal, Taylan, Royce and despite your feelings... AD.

Currently all injured.

Throw those 5 in the team + Averillo & Brails.
Hopefully a few more heavy hitters and we aint looking that bad.

On paper, on par with teams like NQ and South's, who made the 8.
Maybe NQ but no where near Souths. Mitchell, Haas, Fifita ,Walker, Wighton in 2027.

We need someone to turn out a special player in the near Future, especially in the attack with brains, speed and sound defence. We make breaks but no one has the speed to finish

I think that 2nd half could see Benji go into preseason with Jock at 7 and Latu at 6. Javon putting pressure on both. No need to have AD at 13. He will just get in Jock and Latus way. You dknt need a ball olaying lock when both halves play so straight like Jock and Latu. Imagine those 2 halves playing off the back off our full strength pack? Sam came off, no KPP, no Twal.

Sam and KPP will destroy teams with Latu and Jock or Javon.

Agree but we cannot let him go apparently he’s a very humble and respectful kid loves Benji was going to give the game away and lacked confidence this year hopefully he’s overcome that

Souths are way better

No they havn't, but Herbert hasnt been good all year apart from the Newcastle game.

Its the clubs fault, a guy who hasnt played footy for 2-3 years had no right to walk into a NRL team set up. Wouldn't happen at 90% of clubs. You have some decent players like Sloan, McInness etc who cant get an NRL deal and have to go to the UK, yet we hand out deals to tradies and throw them in the NRL within weeks. Jerseys are not earned here, they're given.
I agree, but he is part of bro culture that developed under Marshall.

I’ve heard he is humble ,,,so hopefully he will take a 2 yr extension on reasonable money as a payback for his injury history ..make him a promise that if he can maintain health and show top form , you will make the next deal a lot bigger..he is still very young

….outside of centrelink

Imagine what a quality coach could do with this group at full strength? Benji will fumble around with AD at lock or in the halves. Jock, Latu and Javon won't be given the keys. Our star edge backrowers will flounder.
A good coach comes in and immediately plays to our strengths. He picks halves that play straight and create space for Sam, KPP and Bula.
. He teaches the edges to hold and bounce off when defending, he teaches us to play through teams rather than around.
