Spot on, no Stef, Brooks, To a, Naden, Bateman, Stains, Noffa, & Doueihi what chance did we have but we have to sign some quality players. A very disappointing year again.

Benji needs to toss the poor me card in the bin and toughen up.
He almost had API crying, with each of them trying to accept total responsibility for the woeful performance.
Benji and API need to focus on “what’s“ going wrong and leave the “who” for the kids in the boardroom.

We can use those guys being out as an excuse but in reality they aren’t missed much. You are correct we have to sign some quality players - but it is to replace the likes of these guys.
Take 7 of the best players out of any NRL side any they will not beat any other NRL side who is close to full strength.
I realise Manly had around 5 of their regulars out too, but we don’t have the same high end quality players or leadership as what they do.

They are not our 7 best. Each has had a poor year.
We don’t have 7 players of the same ability to replace them with within our 2023 roster.
Do you think Manly put 50 on us if we were at full strength with no injuries ?
Not too many positives to come out of this game. Thought Kit Laulilii was very good. Seems to offer a different body shape. Low centre of gravity and great leg speed. A keeper to be developed.
Reilly looks better week to week. Think he has a future and we looked worse when he was off the field.
Our left hand side defence was non-existent. I understand it was Feledy’s first game but he didn’t know where to stand! He seemed to be infield, allowing enormous space outside him which DCE identified and Saab exploited. I would have accepted if he got run over by bigger men more easily than what happened (he wasn’t even there). He is a long way off being NRL ready. Does run hard though.
The referee experiment was a dismal failure as I don’t think she could keep up with the play. Thought she controlled the ruck ok but much like Feledy, was caught way out of position.

The positive out of the game is it demonstrated to all and sundry the lack of depth we have and the immaturity, in a footballing sense, of the kids we have coming through. 2024/5 our furtunes are tied to selection committee and Fulton. I expect that we can let the FG forwards ride 2024 and recruit some grit and strike in our centre/wing combination. However, we need to spend as much effort on recruiting our FG team as we do in Cup and Flegg.
A full season in Cup/Flegg with a steady roster is what is required to develop our young guns. Until we have Flegg putting performance pressure on a KOE team putting performance pressure on our FG team we will never have the depth to compete for the lollies at the end of the season.
Next man up requires this sort of depth - Penrith, Broncos, Storm, and to a lesser extent Sharks, Warriors and Souths have this level of depth. There is a good reason we, along with Saints and the Dogs are at the bottom of the table and I don't think it has much to do with the coaching.

Yeah... With the attitude we showed that saw them stroll by us 30 seconds into the game and score... They ream us no matter who's out there with that shit attitude

Come on man. Are you really saying Api missed that tackle because of a bad attitude ?
That isn't attitude. That is a big dude running over a little dude who missed a tackle.
I reckon Api would admit it’s much tougher defending isolated on an edge than it is in the middle.
Like or hate Brooks, he was a very tenacious defender for us, I worry the young fellas we have replacing him might not have the same defensive commitment.

The bad attitude was everyone around Api who reacted so poorly once he was beaten.
Brooks was a very poor defender when he first came into grade,it has certainly improved over the years which is more than i can say for his partner in crime M.Moses
All the good defensive teams openly say they have their edge back rowers acting as body guards defensively for the halves they play alongside of.
Just another aspect of the game that is not happening for us.
