Round 3 Discussion *SPOILERS*

JWH, yet another high-shot. Biomechanics expert will say it was the direction the breeze was blowing that caused it. No punishment. Wash, rinse, repeat.

These new rules make it very hard for the team who’s behind to make a comeback. In all three games it’s been fairly even, one team gets a few calls and then they run away with it. Obviously the losing teams haven’t been good but we are yet to see a close contest unless Rabbitohs stage a comeback.

Well Souff's have completed more sets have received more 6 again's and more penalties and had more tackles in the opposition 20 as well as more 7 tackle sets and more force drop outs than the Rorters so far...

Yeah they’ve clearly been better - but the new rules help the team that’s ahead stay ahead. A couple 6 agains in a row and one team is buggered by halftime and the other isn’t, that’s been shown in all the games. It’s more open footy but personally not a fan of every game being a blowout. Maybe Souths will score one here and make it close and prove me wrong

That doesn't bother me. Neither the broncs or the tits have a decent spine to get them back into a contest. Its getting back to footy.

Leads to less exciting footy if this keeps up. Personally not a fan of watching blowouts

I'm fine with it if it leads to bringing back more footy players and less 100kg robots with no skills just running lines.
I have no problem at all with skillful players running rough shot over guys that just happen to be athletic.

There’s never been more skill in footy than there is now. We’ve had some of the greatest playmakers of all time with the two ref system in place.

Not being rude or sarcastic mate but you're fairly young?

I am but I still know Thurston, Cronk, Smith are some of the best every playmakers we’ve seen. Obviously there’s been plenty of great playmakers in the past as well but the game has evolved a long way

Video ref calls are interesting. It’s seems to me now they are looking for reasons to give the try. In the last few seasons it was more like they were looking for reasons to not give the try.

Naming Cronk says it's all to me. I could name 30 halfbacks from the 80s and 90s that were way more skillful than him. He was a chess player that was perfect for this era. Look at the current halves, a pretty poor bunch on my opinion.
Again, not trying to belittle your opinion mate. This is just mine.

So not having a go at him but three games at fullback for Mitchell have all been very average at best. Positional play terrible and involvement minimal. Very expensive experiment when he could be arguably the games best centre

Its pretty noticeable isn't it. Not sure if that's good or bad.

I reckon I've counted 5 "bumpers" that have made contact with opposition players heads

Mate, nothing wrong with being young, you have a lot of very good opinions about football but tend to overrate the current game a little too much, just like us oldies do with the game we remember from when we were younger. Cronk was a great organising half but was not a great ball player, he was actually an athlete turned inti a halfback with incredibly hard work and determination. Ballplaying wasn't natural to him.

Glad we didn't get him in the end, though I wasn't at the time.

He’s going to need a season at least before he comes good, if he comes good. That would be no good for us.

I agree both demographics talk their version of the game up ? in 50 years I’ll be doing the same I’m sure talking about the good old days. Cronk rarely gets a kick or a pass wrong which is my idea of skilful.

He’s a crap fullback. There I said it. Mitchell is a Center pure and simple.

I think it’s good. Beats spending two minutes and multiple replays looking for a reason not to give the try.
