Its a game of chicken between the refs and coaches. I'm surr the clubs feel the refs don't have the gumption to stay the course.

I hope the fortitude continues as it's long overdue. That said, so is the use of the five minutes in the bin.

Just switched on. Fatty is blowing up, so they must be doing something right.

Anyway, I agree with you, hope they see it through too, even if the footy is ugly. From the little bit I saw, and the rest of the games this year this is what it will take to stop the game being dominated by the same tactics we've blown up about for years. What is the point of rules when the same things go unpunished time after time until it suits the refs, like against us last week. I'd rather see every infringement penalised and no more chummy behaviour between refs and players.

Commentators aren’t helping tho, getting stuck into the refs

To be fair I barely watched the game and the commentators might be right about tonight, but I think the overall point to be square at marker, play the ball properly and stay onside will add to the product in the long term.

I’m loving chicken legs Checcin tonight. He’s set a standard and stuck with it. Yes there has been a lot of penalties but the players need to adjust not the ref. A few talking back penalties don’t help Melbourne’s cause.

I take it you don't watch Rugby League for the entertainment value then…

I want to see free flowing games and the way we get that is if the players adhere to the rules. Everyone complained that the ruck was a mess and the play the ball was being slowed down too much. Now the refs are cleaning up the ruck and the ten minutes to allow the players to have time and room but people want to blame the refs not the players. The refs would be out there telling them when they can move so the players need to listen to him.

That would be all well and good if that's all they were policing, but they appear to just be nit picking every little move the teams make! No one can do anything without the bloody whistle going off.

Do you really think Lewis should've been binned because Billy ran into his hand and fell over? That game tonight was a pathetic spectacle purely because the refs cruelled it by going over the top.

All i know is that we better show up against the storm or else it’ll be a long night

Coach not happy

If we just rattle them again early it could be us who is on top with the Storm losing control - pressure from the coach could work in our favour.

Watch what happens now. Melbourne will whinge incessantly about this and next week they’ll stand offside all game and get away with it. OR the NRL can stick to its guns and enforce the rules.

Chambers will defiantly be out against us next week for choking Gallen, but wouldn't be surprised if a couple more after what happened at the end.

Lewis sin bin seemed over the top but most other penalties seemed fair. The players are the ones who need to adjust their play.

Melbourne swearing at the red when asked to get back on the mark is just stupid by the players.

Continually rushing off the line when there have already a heap of 10 metre penalties again stupid by the players.

The refs cop it because they have the whistle but the players need to learn. The coaches have more likely tried to use this round to push the limits and cause a heap of penalties to push the refs hands.

Refs will stick to their guns. Once you’ve gone this strong on something you look foolish backing down.

Hope so! To Bellamys credit, in the press conference he simply said his team were very ill-disciplined. No blaming refs at all

Cammy did similarly against us, but I see thst hes got his comeuppance tonight and the ref a standing ovation

Haven't watched tonight either and rarely do for non WT games nowadays, especially not Melbourne and Cronulla ones.

Really hope that the refs take back control of the game as it may have me watching regularly again. If I am really lucky, it may even eventually lead to the demise of the giant robotic like athletes and allow more genuine footballers back on the field.

There is no fatigue…. There is no continuity... How will Footballers perform in these type games you didn't even watch yet comment on?

Wrestle isn't the issue… 10m is

Per my last post, haven't watched, only seen a couple of videos. If it is the ten metres being penalised and they are continually infringing, then happy to have a truckload of penalties.
