LIVE GAME Round 4 vs Warriors

Live Game Discussion
I didn't expect my first post here to be so negative after the big win, but Madden's defence was not good.

You don't pick halves for defence, you coach structures and teach them to make good decisions so they don't have to make many one-on-one tackles. He was exposed brutally in defence in times, partly just because it was a new combination and he was targeted. If he's going to be there for a while it'll improve.

Nevertheless, excellent job at what he was selected for.
I think you summed it up at the end - he hasn’t played with those guys before and it showed at times. One of the Warriors tries he’s slightly out of alignment and instead of making the tackle front on (which he needed to do) he’s a bit to the side and gets dragged over the line. Another time he’s marking their back rower and next door Sione Fainu is marking Boyd. Overall I think he’s a reasonable defender for a half, be just needs to not get caught out in bad assignments on our line.

Not really, we had a halfback capable of directing the team this week, and absence of one last week.
You misread what I said but got the message right.

I've been beating MADDEN'S DRUM since the trial games on his game management and kicking game [the----- "play the game it in their red zone theory"].
Now everyone can see the difference he makes to the side's overall performance. It is not eye catching but very effective. It will never get in the high lights reel, BUT-------
He has learnt a lot from the Bronco's Reynolds style of play.
His job now is to maintain that form and educate those around him how to do it.
And the coaches have finally seen the light. It just took some injuries to force them to have another look. And they did, and I expect we will have a few more weeks to see if it is not a one off! Fingers crossed.

Yeah even before he left our club the first time I didn't think his defence was unacceptable for a half at all. He didn't have a good game in defence last night and I think it's okay to say that, but he'll get better the more he gets used to the structure and the players either side of him. He should get at least the new three weeks or so with Luai out but he's going to be targeted there while there's a learning curve.

I saw the game as one our most gutsy wins in a long time,we could have been blown of the park after a poor start. The reffing was poor from the start (but both sides suffered equally) but did not make an impact until the match became a contest when it seemed capable of going either way then it changed to being heavily favouring the wahs.I honestly don't think we played that well BUT it was pure guts and determination that got us home which i love to see.
If we keep that determination we will have a much better year than usual and hopefully push for a top 8 position.Early days but i am a little more optomistic this year.

He's just trying to squeeze out the last bit of juice from the old thinking of the club. Used to be easy click bait picking on the Tigers. He's just slow reading the room.

Give us 5 more wins & he'll be talking us up like potential premiers.
He will start to use us as the story like he was always an admirer

Benji will have Hunt And Bunty run at him all week at training.... he'll be ready for Parra 😉

AD and Twal are winning us games. Most of us were prepared to write them off. But this isn't just about 1-2 players winning us games. It's been a team effort with a next man up mentality.
Yep that was me with AD.

Fully prepared to write him off after the Third hamstring injury.

In fairness I always saw Twal as a solid spare prop. i.e. 13-17 but a keeper. I never thought he would reach the level he is at now.

Missed the 1st 20 but was super impressed with the team effort

Players actually competing for bombs
Backing up breaks.
Great first contact.

Best call, “was that alex Twal or benji Marshall” haha
Same here, saw the score & thought, here we go, back to bad old habits. But boy what a statement they made eh?
