LIVE GAME Round 5 v Broncos

Live Game Discussion
This is so OTT it's not funny. Did you see how the ball bounced? Shane Warne would've been proud.

If he wasn't near the line people would've gone insane he was not positioned for the bomb. Appreciate it for what it was - a brilliant play by a great half back.

Really feel like some people are incredibly harsh on Bula.
Completely agree mate. It was a perfect kick and a perfect bounce. Almost un-defendable

I'm a fan of Bula but would like him to be a bit more switched on at times. I know it's early in his career & don't want to bag him unnecessarily. Just has a few things to work on.

Why don't halves put a chip kick behind the opposition defensive line more often the wingers and fullbacks are waiting for the big kicks 30/40 meters away, Reynolds last night was perfect, no one does it any more.

Ps: the Phil Blake day's, if a player does that now I reckon he'll clean up ( tries, try assists)

Great point.

I think the over-structured nature of the game these days has killed individual brilliance like the old chip and chase; Ironically making it the perfect surprise tactic!

All and all think we did OK last night there was a couple of lucky kicks that led to tries against us and some ordinary decisions leading to tries as well.
Have to consider how good the Broncs team are, think them and Melbourne will make the GF this year barring injuries.
I think it could have been closer if we were at full strength, can only hope for next game we are.

I am not afraid to kick the squad when they underperform. I don’t think they did last night. They weren’t at full strength, had at least 2 questionable tries awarded against them, lost their halfback mid game and still managed 5 tries with a 6th controversially denied.
This side is different to past years. When they click, and they will, they’ll go on a run. We had the design in attack to beat Brisbane last night and with a full side likely win that.we need to fix our defence though. To play ok and still allow 7 tries in is not good enough.
I agree with your summation, but how did Benji out coach Madge?

Are you sure? ball shifted to blind on tackle 3 to the 5/8 inside of the 40.
my question was did Bula react once the kick was made or did he come across with the ball when it went out to hunt.
If he was following the play he would of got there that’s the point I’m making and it’s more a general question, do fullbacks move across with the direction of the ball or generally stay middle of the field until plays 4 or 5?
For mine, the fullback follows the ball

I think on review the person that struggled the most was bird. He has been amazing lately however the long minutes led to more mistakes and less impact imo. Two of his missed tackles were crucial. Hopefully we can drop him to the 50-60 min range
Jack Bird has been excellent off the bench and has provided good impact when he has come on.

Unfortunately injuries and suspension have disrupted the team and the bench that was most effective at the start of this season.

Injuries and suspension were always going to cause us problems this season with the lack of depth that we have in key positions.

Surely this can only improve next season when you see the number of players that we have that provide limited or no value that are coming off contract and we have to put our trust in Richo and Benji to strengthen those positions moving forward.

Well it is possible to Captains challenge it.
It certainly looked like it was too easy for the forward to crash over due to something from that inside runner during the live game. Broncos are as untouchable as Bennetts Bunnies though.
Can you post screenshots of the forward passes? Is it possible to visually see the ball came out of the hands backwards?

Bula's a real athlete with unlimited potential but shouldn't be above criticism. Needs to work on positional play & overall focus.Just my opinion but get a vibe that he plays NRL because he can and it's a good earn. I wish he had a bit of Dylan Edwards' desire.
Bula shunning his QLD origin eligibility was a misstep in his career. Even if he had the chance to be no. 20-21 in an origin squad, it would have been a great opportunity to learn from the best fullback ever (Billy Slater). Now he's severed those potential ties.

I think if we can have all the top players fit and together in the team we are going along way forward from last year...
1.bulla
2 turuva
3Douhi
4Nadden
5Skellton.
6Galvin
7Luai..
If we had that backline last night, the outcome may have been in our favour, however I can say it THE REF WAS SHIT...
I also think Hunt needs more time in the game..
Just my opinion ...the team did well against a very good side yesterday...

Even in the press conference the day before the game last week, I was thinking he is totally different from the Benji who was on fox. Now he just shuts down stupid questions I love it. Last night in the presser they asked him about the crackdown, he said I really don't know, then they asked Api and Benji said he's got nothing to say he doesn't know either. Lol.
I think he was gutless not to say what really went down. A lot to learn if the Tigers are to get the rub of the green from refs, if we just cop it.

Was Des Hasler gutless as well for what he said in the post game presser. Don't think it's a bad thing for coaches to come out and basically point out the mockery that is the ban on criticising referees or the NRL.

Where's Geoff Toovey when you need him?
