LIVE GAME Round 7 vs Eels

Live Game Discussion
Such a shame. Bula was looking lethal in the 1st half and Turuva looked good out of yardage.
Bula is growing in confidence. Our spine are still playing as individuals and getting that combination going is going to require a better platform and winning the ruck.

My glass is half full,
Sounds like yours might be half empty.
But that’s ok as this forum allows us all to express our thoughts.

Chin up champ
Things could be worse
Have you watched Newcastle games lately

And lastly, I hate losing to Parra. Hate Moses with a passion, but behind DCE, he’s the most clutch half in the comp. Can’t deny it.
I wouldn't say he is clutch, I think that is the wrong word. He has a long history of failing in crucial moments both with Tigers and playing finals with the Eels.

What he is good at is confidence, i.e. competes all match, and his kicking game is very good. He certainly takes the Eels up a notch and they almost can't win without him, so reliant they are.

I thought Galvin was very (mostly) rocks and (very few) diamonds today in Reggie’s. Not sure rushing him back is the way forward - it looks desperate.
If your look at form out of that game, Mason was ok from fullback but it is very slim pickings.
He’s shown enough over 18 months to be picked.

The hard part is the meetings with him and the senior playing group early this week.

I just don't see it the
I was there
First 10 mins of the 2nd half we did not touch the ball
The rot started with the BS pen for the non hip drop tackle on Tuilagi
He milked it big time .The bunker falling for it is a disgrace as he showed a minute later by scoring a try
Pens and repeat sets over and over meant we were on a hiding to nothing
The only reason Lauliili didn't score later on was a whack to the head with full force by Moses .It should have been a penalty try
Finally playing catch up footy last 10 mins some wild passes led to 12 points against us against the run of play
One Addo Carr intercept stopped a certain try which would have put us in front
Finally Douehi is better in the centers
I spoke to Latu before the game and he said he will be back in 2 weeks
I said I think you will be the new star tigers 5/8 and he said I hope so !
Good take on it.
We didn't play our best but the ref had a huge effluence on the result. Other than that, it was two pieces of brilliance by Moses and Addo-Carr (almost threw up mentioning the dog's name).

I think Douehi needs to go back to centre. No point in moving him as it actually weakens two positions - he isn't our Messiah as a 1/2; and we need him at centre.
Not sure about whether to use Bird or Luai at 5/8; nor who to bring in to one of those positions. Cupboard is bare and don't want the turncoat there.
Wish Latu was fit 🙁

We created a few opportunities near their line but unfortunately Doueihi's pace is over long distance whereas Fainu and Mason have the explosive speed to take advantage of those chances. Doueihi plays a good game in the centres especially with his goalkicking and he is a fine team player.

I do see a very promising footballer in young Luke Laul'ili - he'll be a Matt Utai style weapon in the long term!

I agree but unfortunately laulilii had a stinker yesterday. I credit Moses, he put him under pressure the whole match and this produced a few errors.

It was interesting watching Moses' relentless play, prodding all the time, every possession.

I feel like the eels had a real vulnerability on the edges in their non tackling 2nd rowers but our halves never really targeted those areas until late in the 2nd half.

Thats partly because of weak metre gains in early tackles, but was also just not taking control of the game by our halves. Against the Broncos and now the eels we've seen the difference top quality halves can make in the game. My criticism of luai isn't his quality, it's his involvement. He can't just be a left sided player in our team, he's got to be everywhere and he's capable of this.

It's your team, Luai!

Wests Tigers v Parramatta

Kelma Tuilagi (PAR)

Grade 2 Shoulder Charge on Terrell May (1 min)
Base penalty 3 matches
2nd offence
- Early Plea - 3 matches
- Guilty at panel / no contest - 4 matches
PLEA: 12pm Tuesday

Not to have a whinge but how does such a serious offence get turned a complete blind eye to with all the technology?

Judging by the grading, is that not a sin bin?
Send off even

I wish Turuva would have tossed their 9 a bit further.
That was a sin bin worth getting as the Eels players were trying to get in our faces and intimidate, it’s a bit sad we leave it to our winger to sort them out.
I see what you are saying but why wasn't Turuva (and others) showing any fight to keep Bula in the field of play by lending weight to the tackle. Happy for him to stand up to the Eels taunting Bula but would prefer his head was in the game and be actually helped in the football side of things as well.

Yep. Douehi is not the answer - and we need him at centre.
