It wasn't a shoulder charge. It was front on and both arms are wrapping around as he makes contact.

He led with his shoulder mate, his arms were nowhere near him!

You don't understand what a shoulder charge is, do you?

Yes I do. No need to be a smart arse mate.

Sorry mate. I wasn't trying to be a smart arse. But your responses suggest you don't understand the technical definition of a shoulder charge. If its front on and you make an effort to wrap your arms, it can't be a shoulder charge.

When you see it front his right arm is rapped around, therefore not a shoulder charge.
Just a great hit.

I noticed that Mbye kick out with his foot after taking one of those bombs Billy Slater like.

How was that not a shoulder charge?

It was a great hit!!!

The first time Woods doesn't take a hit up with his back side he gets smashed :roll

Huh? I'm talking about the shoulder charge on Marshall-King, don't know what you're on about. Should've been a penalty to the Dogs.

It's clear games with minimal penalties are the best… Now we have fans wanting great tackles penalised... Be careful what you wish for

I couldn’t care less who won tonight BUT I am so friggen sick of referee interference in our game. NO WAY Cherry-Evans knocked on but ref calls it, Newcastle feed and then Newcastle try. Another game decided by refs. It happens every single week. We’ve been pissed on by refs twice in 7 games. Not good enough. I’m with Toovey - there needs to be an investigation!!!! Maybe I’m with Bob Fulton and we need a cement truck!!!!

If you can't handle officials making errors I suggest you give up watching sports. Its happened since day dot and will continue to happen.

Perhaps reading books might be a good change of pace.

There is no other game where officials influence results as much as they do in NRL

Okay. if thats what you want to believe. I religiously follow league, english football, a-league, the AFL and the NBA. In every competition, fans blame the officials. Its boring. They are humans making fast decisions without the benefit of a replay. get over it.

That’s my opinion and I’ll make it. Get over it yourself!

think about the kids!

i think it sends them a great message. "son, if someone ever bullies you at school, just tackle them like that!"

Like I said in the post you ignored, all I want is consistency.

Don't want to get in a slanging match here - thought there were are number of bad decisions - most against the Dogs.

Especially one late in the second half about 15-20 metres from the Dogs line - scrum went down - Dogs feed, who trapped the ball - the Panthers lock had broken from the scrum and was 2 metres away and the ball had not left the scrum. No penalty. What is the point of having rules if they are not enforced?

I couldn't care less who won the game - Dogs win it is great for the Tigers. Panthers win, Woods loses another game. A win win night really.

By the way I also think it was a shoulder charge. No arms were wrapped or even looked like it imo.

Mate if you don't want your opinion challenged or criticised, I suggest that you don't make it on an internet forum.

The whole point of this place is to give views and have others challenge those view.

Cheers

Don't need to be fully wrapped Russ.

The test is whether the player made an effort to tackle with the arms. Whare brought his arms around and given the speed at which it occurred there is no way you can say he didnt make an effort to use his arms.

The correct decision in accordance with the current interpretation for shoulder charges.

Two years ago it would have been a shoulder charge.

Fair enough mate and thanks for the link, but I still don't think he made the effort with his arms - it just looked like a plain shoulder hit to me that the refs would penalise any other time. Anyway agree to disagree, it was all very quick and I haven't watched it in slow mo yet.

Mate I have no problem being challenged but I don’t need to be told to get over it simply because I raise a point you disagree with. It is my belief that due to the huge impact momentum plays in our game now, referees decisions either promote or turn that momentum. I take your point that mistakes will happen. My point is there are far too many mistakes and they decide games.

Fair enough. Mistakes don't worry me. They happen and will continue to happen.

Other aspects of officiating annoy me. The main one is selective penalties. The decision against us against the Broncs is a great example. Even if Rochow wasn't straight, which he was, there were numerous similar plays all game that escaped sanction. They are the kind of decisions that should be criticised IMO.

The problem with blaming the refs too much is it excuses the responsibility of the players. Trent Robinson was great on Wednesday when he said "I don't care about referees' decisions. That wasn't why we lost." He is right.

Trent Barrett said a similar thing after our game against Manly.

For too long, our game has focused too much on the refs. I blame people like Phil Gould for this.
