Defintiely not, as soon as you are retreating it is very hard to react. It shows a lack of coordination/confidence the players around you and/or the defensive structure. I doubt there is a plan to do that. It is really a matter of committing to the play and trusting the inside pressure/cover to clean up any overlap.

Usually this happens when players are torn between commiting to the tackle or covering the kick - again there should be structures for that.

Whilst it’s amazing to win those games , where we can be horrendous and still pull out a win , we simply need to be better . That wasn’t good enough tonight . And I’m really glad our coach thinks the same thing . Because that’s how you make leaps as a footy team . It’s not just losses you learn off.

I Agree it was shit. But it wasn't ALL luck. There's an element of heart and effort that keeps us in the games. If this game was played last year, with us having the same luck, we would have lost 28-16 or something.. instead we won..

But I agree with what you are saying. We have a long way to go to be a top side

Honestly, we did not contain them!

We seem to be outscoring teams.. Which makes me worry. If they don't have 4 tries in them we win... But it won't be every team we can put 4 tries on and be sure to outscore them...

Our defense has been stronger in the past games and I am sure if we get our backline back to normal:
Turuva, AD, Toa, Skelton...

We should see fewer tries against us. ... We can't be this leakly and expect to play finals.

And after the Storm losing earlier, it could get very ugly next Sunday ! They usually
bounce back big time after any loss, I think I heard that their average score after a loss is 38 points !

Agree … our backline seems to be chopping and changing every week which surely does not help our cause. That and the tough physical game against Cronulla the week before

I think we will be ok. Just need a long turn around which we will get next week (8 days)

Good point.

I think it could be alot like the game vs the broncos, where we are in it for 40-60 mins and it'll be a 20-30 min lapse that lets us down.

The optimist in me says it's a great test to see how far behind the best we are... Just my way of accepting the loss in advance 🤣
 
As good as the Storm are, they aren’t playing great footy consistently this year so far.
  • Flogged Parra
  • Unconvincing win v Penrith
  • Lost to Dragons
  • Flogged Manly
  • Flogged Warriors
  • Got flogged by Dolphins
  • Decent win against undermanned Rabbits
  • Beaten in OT by Raiders.
They aren’t on fire and can look very frustrated when things do not go as planned.
We’re a chance if we don’t play the game their way.

Living in Melbourne, I’m going to the game, my only live one this year and I too am looking to see us up against one of the big guns. It will give us another indication of how far we’ve come.

We have lost our last 6 in a row to the Storm.

Our last victory against them was 2018.....

In saying that, the run has to end eventually, right?

I dont understand this line of thinking, it always seems to be ''the next game'' will tell us where we really are, or how we are going or how far weve come.

Now tells us where we are - the first nine games

Next week wont be easy especially if we continue to make it hard for ourselves as we have been....who knows what the week ahead also has in store, always seems to be something concerning us either real or fabricated
