ET, the only footballer to be as handsome at the end of his career as he was at the start 🥰
I watched a Youtube clip of Balmain v Penrith and Elias was taken out by Brad Izzard at the 52 sec mark. It is worth watching. The commentator, Rex Mossop, advises the tackle was totally legitimate nothing illegal - it is a cruel thing to watch😁. Also of note Ellery Hanley making a break in the opening minutes and Roach sprinting down the left side.

Brings back great memories,i would willingly swap the rest of my life to have another Tigers team with that talent before i croak.

In Round 20 1993; 18-year-old Anthony Mundine made his First Grade debut off the bench - in jersey #32 - for the St George Dragons against the Penrith Panthers at Penrith Park

The Conlon try was a classic.

Turns out ( or as I heard it)Jimmy was in a initial stomach with Ridge ( opposing full back) but then made a few harsh, gay slurs to Robbo and got more than he bargained for, was at that game and remember the “blue” well.
Can we stop repeating this claim? There is absolutely zero evidence that Jack made any homophobiic slurs against Roberts. Roberts hasn't said this, Jack hasn't. It's an unfair insinuation against Garry Jack and he doesn't deserve it.

Ahh Ross Conlon, there's a blast from the past you talk about good goal kickers that guy was a dead eye dick.
Still remember a picture taken at Leichardt Oval of him kicking a goal with a jumbo jet flying over.

Above picture of David Brooks man that guy didn't get the recognition of Blocker or Sirro but he was a good forward.
Conlon could kick a goal from anywhere. I remember David Brooks was solid defender, very reliable.
Len Kileen was a no fuss kicker, with a twist of the heel he would place the pointy end in the hole and without a dance followed by positive affirmations, which seem to go on and on these days, he would nail them from all over the park..

Maybe I wear rose-coloured glasses, but my memory is that Brooks was a better footy player than that.
You’re probably right BS ( and he could kick goals as well). Was just trying to put it in perspective for our younger audience.
Of course prior to DB we had Bruce McGuire who was a tough hombre.

He was. I think they played at the same time.

It really was a great forward pack and those guys, plus others, were more than just supporting acts to the skills of Roach, speed of Pearce, power of Sironen, guile of Elias.
One of the all time best.

Righto. Well I suppose you can subpoena them if Jack decides to sue you. For the record I've spoken to a few players from that game and they say otherwise. Ian Roberts himself says it was unprovoked and has made a full apology.
