They won in 38 right? And 42 but nothing until 1980 I think. The most points in one game for one player was in the Roosters game. Did Mal beat that?

Mal beats lots of things…..mainly himself

He beats NSW even more regularly.

Brothers or Jets, which one is older?

Ipswich played in the old comp between the 4 regions called the Bulimba Cup

Brothers were one of the Brisbane Rugby League clubs They originally played under the name of Brother Old Boys but were better known as Past Brothers from about 1930

The Ipswich Jets didn't join until 1984 , but played in the State League from 1982

Thanks for the info mate.

Basically bar a few additions and a few omissions the old Qld State League is basically the current Qld Cup

But the BRL /QRL let sides that couldn't stand of their own two feet die , Brothers ,Valleys ,Wests :bawling went by the wayside

Actually their is a new version of the BRL starting , don't know too much about it though Do you know anything about it Watto ??

The teams which died were all surrounded by stronger licensed clubs and were never going to be able to fund themselves… BRL started up last season HT. Good mix of Brisbane region, but again with strong financial support.

I think Geo is right... Your question old fella?

It is Toowoomba, Duncan Thompson captained coached them in 24-25 they went undefeated.
They beat every one and in the Centenary celebration they were voted the sevond best side in history (behind saints 56-66)

There are some amazing stories in Rugby league history

Great Talent has come from the Toowoomba Region/Comp… The old BRL utilised it immensely to pull talent to the city for decades.

Was [Racist or culturally insensitive words are automatically censored] Brown in that team Goose?

Yeah he was, played in the Centres with Tom Gorman who was also in the top 100 players of the century when it came out (captained Australia and stuff).

Herb Steinohrt was another Australian captain in the team and top 100 players inclusion. (edit made QLD side of the century as well)

Pretty amazing that 3 Aus Captains (all top 100 of the century) played in the same regional country side at the same time.

Further to my above post that side had 2 more players of the Century in Mick Madsen and Vic Armuso….
incredible

Big Mal was Michael Hagan's right hand apparently. Or his left. Take ya pick.

Big Mal is the holder of the most SOO wins and will be the next immortal. He is so sick of beating the blues he has quit even though he could have added to that tally with the upcoming whitewash lol….

You always knew when you played Toowoomba they would have a hard ,tough as nails forwards pack and a good backline

When playing one Toowoomba side in Rugby they had Brett Johnstone (Qld half ),Garrick Morgan and Tim Horan

The other had Jason Little

Rugby League wise they had many good players in my age group such as Craig Teevan ,Sandy Campbell and Wests Magpies Danny Peacock and Aussie Schoolboys captain from my year was a Toowoomba boy

Yeah either that or perhaps he bailed out while the going was good, once the spine of QLD are retired in the next 2 or 3 years there's gonna be plenty of losses coming up for the Queerslanders methinks. NSW have got the better youngsters coming through by far.

Hagan's not continuing on as an assistant coach and maybe Mal thinks the Australian job is more prestigious role

That's what he said in interview I saw that he gave

NSW have always had better juniors coming through , problem is the dumb bum selectors you have that continually pick the wrong sides and then switch players quicker than they change their jocks or stick to the "made for Origin players " that are barely made for NRL

Is this the rugby league triva quiz anymore?…if so did i get it right.?

Question What was the year the Queenland bogans throw full cans of beer instead of drinking them at Lang Park..?

Easy was at the game 1988

Phil Daley was punching the crap out of Conescu and Lewis ran in to break it up

Conescu and Lewis got binned

Binning Lewis during an SOO game at Lang Park , Mick Stone was lucky to leave alive

If memory serves we scored when down to 11 , Shearer made a massive break and got dragged down on the line

Massive Gladstone connection in all of this

Conescu was picked to play Australia from Gladstone

Chris Close and Phil Daley both owned the Queens Hotel in Gladstone (Bellowing Bull) and both played for Gladstone Brothers

QLD won the series 3 nil. I saw this not long ago I reckon it was 20 something to.about 18, I am going to guess 26-18

Seeing Goose had it half right and Watto's had it half right you can both ask a question

Can't believe you didn't know the score Watto , you call yourself a Qlder

Was that right! I was guessing. …

Brad Fittler broke an (almost ) 80 year record to become the youngest Australian test player, who held the record
