It's gona be 32 here today. So I'm trying to convince the missus the plasma would look great next to the pool :sunglasses:

I hope youre only ''trying'' so she believes she has something of a say in the scheme of things, or does your missus really wear the pants watto

lol… when it comes to the household, they always wear the pants!

That game was exactly why Union is now a joke of a game…

i dont think the all blacks are a joke. its great to watch them in motion. I dont think its a joke of a game. Maybe i would of agreed with you one week ago, but after watching a documentary about rugby in New Zealand last week on foxtel called Rugby - the lifeblood of New Zealand, it occurred to me that rugby is not about the rules or the referees, its all about the all blacks, that jersey they wear. they are the invincibles just like the kangarros are. Two formiddable outfits - my question to the forum is who are better the all blacks or the kangaroos?

x1000

Rugby at it's absolute best can be very good to watch. The other 98% of the time it is a frustrating technical penalty-athon.

That a team can take pot shot penalty and field goal attemps from beyond 30m is laughable. There is little or no reward for chancing your hand, because anyone isolated loses possession. Ruck and scrum interpretations are 50/50 depending on the ref.

And tries… well let's just reflect that we had more tries in the first 15 minutes of the League Test yesterday than in 160 minutes of semi-final rugby.

What the???

It doesn't matter what they're wearing if the game is ruined by dud referees and a rule back that seems to have been written to suck any potential for attack out of the game. I'm sure the Chinese Ping Pong team is very tough to beat too but that doesn't make me want to tune in.

the bottom line is the all blacks beat the wallabies - maybe the rules and refs suck - but you dont see that in the history books. But yossarian, if i look past your negativity - i have a feeling you tuned into the game last night.

If the game is so crap and such a joke- then explain to me 5 pages for this rugby union thread. I'm sure if the wallabies won we wouldnt be talking about rules or refs.

I watched about 10 minutes when I was visiting my folks and that was enough so no I didn't see the whole game. It's a frustrating game to watch. And I'd strongly suggest the amount of pages devoted to a thread on this forum is by no means an indication that the topic is worth the attention.

Anyway my previous post was in relation to your suggestion that it didn't matter if the referees were terrible and the game was dreadful - it's worth watching because one of the teams wears black and wins a lot. That just made no sense to me.

why do all the blacks make no sense to you Yossarian?

Your comment made no sense to me. The suggestion that the All Blacks of and by themselves were a reason to watch union because they win a lot and wear black jumpers. I'm suggesting that these reasons aren't strong enough to make me watch. But if you like it good luck to you, I'm just offering my own thoughts.

yoss, i think i know how you feel, but to me my comment made sense, but 2 weeks ago i would of posted nothing in relation to rugby union - im like you man - i dont get into it brother. But i saw the documentary on tv the other night about rugby in new zealand and all the blacks and it changed the way i think about rugby union.
I guess I dont dislike it as much now. If you get a chance watch it. If you dont like it i'll buy you slab of beer, ok. To me i cant think of a better team around the world than the all blacks, i'm scratching me head and I can only think of the kangaroos. Can you believe that we almost had snared Ma Nonu from the all blacks a few years ago.

Ha! don't mention Ma'a Nonu! That will be another 5 pages just on that debacle! Who knows maybe this Moltzen stuff is a smokescreen so we can go after him again!!

Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the All Blacks as a successful team just like I can appreciate Roger Federer or Nadal are awesome tennis players. I just couldn't stand watching it for any more than a few minutes!

What a contrast both games were.

One showed breathtaking pace, bits of brilliance, crunching defense, and kept me entertained despite the blowout score.

The other was a tense close scoring affair, marred by the constant technicalities and a referee who surely had the all blacks in his back pocket - the amount of "PLAY ON" Calls made during times of contentious NZ ruck an mall infringements, couple with the amount of blow ups on very harsh wallaby infringements made for a thoroughly un-enjoyable game to watch.

X…you dont have to be a rugby afficionardo to have tuned in to watch that game last night.

It was a world cup semi and Australia was playing. Of course a lot of people watched it. The All Blacks looked far surperior however when the Wallabies did try their hand ( the 2 or 3 times they did ), they made easy ground. Which made it all the more frustrating to watch them constantly kick the ball and hand over possession. Not entertaining in the least as far as I am concerned.

Ink when it comes to the crunch all of our Missus's wear the pants in the family
Only some of us admit it though
And it is easier that way to gain some leverege that way (when we need it )

Much better game to play than to watch

I think it depends on what era you played Ink
I played three years of rugby in the early to mid 80's and didn't really enjoy it to be honest

What did you think of the Final? I thought that the French played much better football, although they lost. However, they frightened the tripe out of the Kiwis and made all of the Union scribes look idiotic, and that's a good thing. How would anyone like any of those 3 French backrowers running about in black, white and gold? Isreal Dagg looked the goods for the ABs and he and both wingers could certainly catch a high ball.
I don't think that Rugby in Australia will ever be competitive until they swallow their pride and call in a Rugby League coach. They at least can engineer and use an overlap. Deans obviously can't. He's been a failure and doesn't seem to have a Plan B. How he could leave out Berrick Barnes is beyond me. Maybe a new outlook and attitude would be the answer. A snowball's hope in Hell, I'm afraid.
