Rumour Barba & Maitua

Its good to see the club is being active in the market place if of course the above rumor has some legs, I really think Maitua is way to old and to small and Barba would cost the world and I think we have players within our ranks who could be better in the long term. Really barring a standout backrower, centre or front rower,Iam happy with what we have.

Pretty much, I know this is just pie in the sky but I'm just happy wests are actually mentioned in the possibilty of securing a world class player who isn't already on the books…and he's under 30!

if it were true and not for some ridiculous sum of money.

You would be bonkers not too. Such a great player - those screaming for tedesco just remember injuries happen.

new rumour,tigers chasing barba.

obviously, if we can, we should take him in a heartbeat.

yeah we have JT, but barba is better.

BM- im sorry Milky, Barba is nothing like Inglis. Inglis is this generations equivalent to Mal Meninga. However don't expect many people here to say they wouldn't take Inglis though, unless his behaviour off-field is mentioned, which is sometimes easily forgotten compared to other players who have achieved much less in their careers.

Any chance he'd come as a halfback?
I'd hate to lose teddy and I cant help but think we'd have to lose a few more players to fit him under the cap

not that it will happen but i would have barba any day of the week as teddy has done sweet fa and will just turn out to be another player that everyone overrates.

Im a Teddy fan but how could you say no to Barba.

That would be awesome.

exactly.
anyone who picks tedesco over barba is nuts!

then call me nuts !!! i'll take teddy every day of the week, and at half the price. barba = sandow = human speed bump in defence.
we dont need ben barba !
the tiges should be ones chasing filau and not taking handmedowns from other clubs.

Plenty of nuts on here then - how anyone would pick any other fullback (excluding Slater,Inglis and maybe Hayne) in front of him I'll never know.
Tedesco may be promising but that's all it is so far.
Potential does not equal the lethal attack that Barba provides.
Meaney played as well or better last week than anything Tedesco has produced so far this year.
How many would pick Meaney over Barba?

Wait what? meaney's game was amazing for HIM but an average Tedesco game. In my opinion anyway.

Look, sure obviously Barba is a million times better than Tedesco right now. But why would we pay 600-800k for a player that covers a position we already have a solid player who has great potential? Let's buy a 600+k centre or second rower. Not fullback? I mean, would we purchase Meritt? hell no, we have koro, nofo, Big T etc. etc.

I don't quite see why we would chase Barba when we have Tedesco who is on the rise. Plus Barba will not come cheap and unless this means Blair is as good as gone, I don't see this rumour having legs to it. Maitua is rubbish and hasn't played a decent game since he left the Bulldogs years ago.

You are easily one of the most hypocritical posters on this forum Ck. You'll defend your golden boy against every single negative comment posted, yet won't give a young kid with a great future ahead of him any credit whatsoever even if your life depended on it.

Its funny, you couldn't cop Lui either. And what one thing do Lui and Tedesco have in common? they both in the past have been in a positional duel with your golden boy. Its no surprise you talk/talked them down at every opportunity

Everyone should remember how crap Barba used to be at fullback. He couldn't take a bomb, had terrible positioning. He had a breakout year last year and is only just finding that form now this season. I'm not doubting his talent, he's bloody good, but that form would have warranted a massive increase in his pay packet.

Now Tedesco is nowhere near as good as Barba right now but many good judges have rated him very highly and even compared him to a young Slater. I think this is a perfect example of when a club should stick solid with their youth. Remember too, Teddy hasn't even played with a full strength team yet. So I don't think we've seen even close to his best this year and the kid is already lightyears ahead of Moltzen and we've been putting up with him for years.

who's the golden boy? moltz?

annoys me when people have 'golden boys' who rep can't be harmed no matter what.

It's not hard to see why we are near the bottom. People refusing Barba, is this a joke? But then again this forum is notorious for these things.

No one wanted Carney
No one wanted Dugan
No one wanted Michael Gordon
No one wanted Gagai
No one wanted Willie Mason

Jeez, for all the crap our recruitment gets, some fans here aren't much better. I'm sick of being the good guys. Get some great talent out there.

Dunni if we were ever mentioned with Dugan Gordon and gagai…...but I and I remember many others here loving the thought of TC and WM
