Rumoured Tiger signing news RLW

The thing I love about Utai, is not only does he provide some go-forward, but he never, EVER is put on his back in a tackle. He is always standing or down on his knees which gives a quick play-the-ball and puts pressure on the opposition. He is invaluable at the moment in my opinion

Yeah very true and is always back from a kick to take the 1st hit up. But his been getting targeted with bombs on the wing as he is short .
Sign him up….

Anyone see the lunacy in this all

Let go Bryce Gibbs

Sign Adam Blair

Now chase Kite a player who defensively I don't rate as good as Gibbs

Also 2 rounds into 2012 let Mitch Brown go and sign both Iosefa and Cashmere Guaranteed 165 k there assuming that Kite is 250 -300 k a season player add that to the 150 k we are going to spend for Kite is 315 k

Are far as I can see logic went out with the dirty bath water

I just dont get it, with the same squad basically as last year minus Ellis with the addition of Anasta, maybe Kite,Pettybourne, how in gods name are we going to beat the likes of Manly,Dogs,Souths and so on. Theirs no xfactor,we have not beefed up into this imposing mean machine,we have not signed up a top line no7 and we still have the same old coach. Are we going to have this amazing offseason where players gain a yard of pace and 10kg,I doubt it.

Compared to ALL other sides I think we are about the only team that seems to have remained at the same level or even dropped a little when your talking playing rosters for 2013

Whilst not a halfback,Bodene Thompson could be an X factor.

We have plenty of x factors they just have to play in their right positions and have a solid platform set by the forwards.
We have Lawrence/Koroibete/Robbie/Teddy?/Benji - about the same as the other top teams for Backs (pretty hard to match Manly no matter who you are).

We also have 3 kick options including field goals.

We have the roster we just need aggression in attack and desperation in defense. Forwards could do with a few more kgs so we can swap from hole runners to runners causing holes.

If junior was as good as people say, why hasn't he been already snapped up? He is off contract and can't be expensive.
If manly are looking at him it's because in 2013 over half the cap is going to pay the back ended deals for kite, killer, choc, king and glen Stewart. Throw in the 400 plus on Brett Stewart upgraded contracts to dce matai and ballin and there is bugger all left to spend on the remaining squad.
Kite still has a contract for next year with the eagles meaning he could come to us with manly paying most of his 2013 contract ala warriors and inu.

As much as I like Bryce defensively he really wasn't a metre eater. I can remember calls numerous calls on this forum demanding his head because he didn't bend the line. I think Kite will at least do that.

The other question I would like answered is who is the "marquis" player this year? We've had Gareth, Lote, Blair (ho-hum). I don't rate Kite, Thompson, Pettybourne in that category

You are probably close to the mark, especially on Moors…

But you are talking about things that don't fit into all the emotional drama which has enveloped the Forum over the past few weeks. Anything which is smart business isn't looked at on here, as apparently we don't have any smart operators at the Wests Tigers.

Half the monkeys on here still think we cut Gibbs for Blair?!

So why did we cut gibbs our best front on defender? Feel free to enlighten us on what you know

Its been stated in numerous articles why Gibbs was cut… There is no point in enlightening the doomdayers as they only believe what suits them!

Hmm..it was only 2 years ago we took a punt on an ageing front rower called Jason Cayless. What a joke that turned out to be.

I would keep Moors ahead of signing Kite.

Who makes these decisions anyway? Do we have a recruitment/retention committee and, if so, who is on it?

Would it be worth considering Utai as a Centre?

He could still perform his barnstorming runs and wouldn't get found out defensively like he does on the wing. He also wouldn't need to defuse as many high balls either. Would his defense be able to handle it? Would he be any worse than Ashyford was this year? So many questions

Blue I like your idea. Then we can keep Beau and Koro on the wings and Rowdy and Utai in the centers. Beau outside Utai so we have pace and solid defense. And likewise on the other side.

The last time he played centre was in the 11 Semi vs Dragons. He couldn't get a hand on Gasnier all night. I would play him at 14\. His efforts in a weak side this year were great.

Utai should be our bench utility. Can fill in if one of the backs is injured but can also be brought on for some impact as an extra forward.

You can't compare Cayless with Kite,Cayless had been injured for nearly 12 months and hadn't played NRL in 4 years,Kite was best on field for Manly in round 25 and is in pretty good form.

Utai should mainly be used similarly to Dene Halatau at his best. All Dene ever did was run out of dummy half, but he did it very well.
