Hmm..it was only 2 years ago we took a punt on an ageing front rower called Jason Cayless. What a joke that turned out to be.

I would keep Moors ahead of signing Kite.

Who makes these decisions anyway? Do we have a recruitment/retention committee and, if so, who is on it?

You can't compare Cayless with Kite,Cayless had been injured for nearly 12 months and hadn't played NRL in 4 years,Kite was best on field for Manly in round 25 and is in pretty good form.

agree x 2

KIte is still in great form playing with a great team and will be invaluable to a young forward pack.

Given the money we were prepared to pay for Luke Lewis surely we have enough money to pay Kite and retain Moors. Manly might even contribute to Kite's contract given he has a year to go.

Blue I like your idea. Then we can keep Beau and Koro on the wings and Rowdy and Utai in the centers. Beau outside Utai so we have pace and solid defense. And likewise on the other side.

Beau Ryan is a myth , he wouldnt make most NRL SIDES ,is great value as a team player but offers very little as a speedster or attacking player .Show me what sides he would walk into ?

Yeh, he's good for bonding, spirit and team moral…logo kissing....but ability wise hes medium

He'll probably win WTs player of the year, which sums the season up

He is a solid consistent player. He might not be as exciting as some wingers but he's still a strong player. I think the myth is about him not having speed (by no means is he a Koroibete but he can still finish like half the other wingers in the comp). He'd still make a lot of teams but not as first choice

Just think how good the rest of the team would have been if Ryan was considered to be the worst in the side after the year he has had?

I.e he would be picked as a starting winger but wouldn't be the best winger in the squad.

I was talking today to someone from the manly camp about kite. Manly do not want him to go and he does not want to go to the tigers but with the huge back end deal he is on the club can't afford to keep him.
If we pick him up, manly will have to top up what we offer him to match his 2013 contract. Meaning we will get him for unders for 2013 and for market value for 14.

Beau would be a starting winger at nearly every nrl club, only clubs he perhaps wouldn't make it would be nights, dragons
Nights - uate and McManus
Dragons -Morris and nightingale

The rest of the teams beau would defiantly be starting and he was in the rlw team of the year on the wing this year. His problem as was in many players for us this yr was that he was switched around early in the yr when he was just on the wing he was great and the most improved player in the game for 2012

Agree.
I think Beau has probably been our best back this year and thoroughly deserves his place in our side.

Maybe with black and gold glasses, but I think if ur honest, theres a few other teams. Ryan wouldn't start at Canberra, North Queensland, Souths, Melbourne, Titans or Manly either…..and I bet if you asked the clubs I didn't say I don't think many of them would be queuing up to put Ryan in there starting team, such as Dogs, Warriors, Broncos etc.

I guess it depends what you want in a winger. You could have someone like Vatuvei from the warriors, who has the ability to win you a game, ut also makes a lot of mistakes. Or you can have Ryan, who is safe as a house, but really won't score unless you put him over the line, or off a kick (8/9 of his tries were).

Beau was dynamite at the start of the year on the wing, problem is he's been switched between fullback and centre since then and he is neither. Beau is a finisher not a play maker or a hole runner

Canberra- Earle
Cowboys- Winterstein
Souths- Everingham
Melbourne- Quinn
Titans- Gordon
Manly- Whare
Bulldogs- Wright
Warriors- Tupou

Give me Beau Ryan over any of these wingers-if not better he is at least as good as any of them (it would be great if he gave the TV gig a miss as well).

Dermo is right @ the start of the year Beau was on fire but he was then moved all around the shop but he still played well, There are a lot of wingers in this comp not as good as Beau.

**Canberra- Earle
Cowboys- Winterstein**
Souths- Everingham
Melbourne- Quinn
**Titans- Gordon**
Manly- Whare
Bulldogs- Wright
**Warriors- Tupou**

All better

Agree… + Storm definetly, Wonga and Duffy id take over Ryan. And even with the other names you name...lets look at Everingham. Now I don't think he's anything special, but he's picked up 15 tries this year, and the Rabbitohs fans have probably developed the same love affair as many tigers fans have with Ryan. With the others he probably isn't any worse, but he's not better, they all bring different things.

And i don't buy this "most improved player" in the NRL tag.... Too many people just requite Phil Gould. Yeah he had a better year, but hell he wasn't even the most improved player in our side. Not to mention the Dally M Medallist among a heap of others.

Someone told me yesterday that Eastwood hasn't been resigned yet (I'm yet to find anything to the contrary)

Now he would be a good pick up for us

Heaps of mongrel , works his butt off
