Rumours

Paying big dollars to gain SBW is simply irresponsible for a club which cant service its debts… The NRL will never grow until it forces current clubs to spend within thier means!

if, as reported in the telecrap, that the stewart bros are on the dragqueens radar, does that open up the more likelihood of dugan coming to the tigers in 2013 ?

Tele says Bret Stewart no longer a free agent for 2012 as the window has closed.

2013 is a different matter though.

Whilst on the Dragons, I have heard twice on the weekend that they are Chasing Dugan…

Some clubs are still sending themselves to the wall spending within the salary cap Glenn. Refer to Manly and Cronulla.

whilst at touch yesterday I was talking to someone on my team about signings and the reason we have been pressed as favourites on the tab market is that we are chasing kieran foran due to his get out cluase with the dessie issue (unreliable source but a rumour) I dont belive it tbh but hey thought I would throw it out there.

Whilst at touch the guy that told me the above rumour pointed out John Grant, hes a monster!! he played againest him in union this year and he said hes aunstoppable close to the try line ( the guy that told me he used to be a 2nd rower/ front rower in league came through the balmain junior a few years back and now a winger in union lol) not a bad rap to be given.

I presume you are refering to the NRL Grant being somewhat equal to the Salary Cap. Unfortunately, the Salary Cap is only a factor of Player Payments and by no means represents what the clubs actually pay thier players… This then leaves the NRL Grant somewhat short?!

My mate played with him this year at Eastwood, said he's an unreal athlete but he's soft and has no heart. He said "at least you only paid him minimum"

Guys there might be a chance we might get foran because there going to increase they cap next year and were losing lote so u never know we just have to wait and see. I wish we could bring him to the tigz.

Captain Awesome Thank you Thats explains a lot of things for me anyway
Why he hasn't been picked up by a Super 15 franchise with all this talent he has
And if this is true he will struggle to make the transition to league as it will take a lot of hard work in the short time he has to acclimatise to our game and sounds like he might be adverse to it

I'd like to know who said that, it is against the general scouting reports about him.
I guess all rugby forwards call all rugby wingers soft

Maybe your mate is Jealous he is still running around in the shute shield for SFA, While a guy he used to play with is getting paid to run around with superstars???

On the subject just mentioned!!!!!!!!
I spoke to a couple of guys up here in Mackay on holidays at the local niteclub here on Saturday night about John Grant!!!! They played against him in the Shute Shield & they said he is "the real deal"!!!!
He is "unstoppable" & he has the "heart of a lion" when it comes to desire to win!!!!
WOW!!!! NOW THAT'S IMPRESSIVE"!!!!!!

Rugby wingers are pretty soft. I reckon he is in for a rude shock when he starts playing league.

Anyway, hope he becomes a gun for us.

Halfway to that Cronk / Slater package!!

Billy Slater has sent shockwaves through the NRL, after it was revealed he can walk out on the Melbourne Storm immediately, as management left red-faced.
Just when you could be forgiven for thinking the off-season couldn’t get any livelier, the world’s best player, Billy Slater is believed to be in grave doubt of remaining at his Melbourne base in 2012.
In a rapid turn of events which has rocked the NRL, Slater’s Manager George Mimis said his client was entitled to leave the Storm at any time, after a third-party sponsorship deal fell through, rendering Slater’s contract worthless.
The Storm management, in particular CEO Ron Gauci are set to come under intense scrutiny, as an emergency board meeting will be called this morning at Storm Headquarters. It is believed Mimis is livid over Gauci not approving Slater’s third party arrangements in a timely enough fashion, and has sensationally accused the CEO of being over-cautious and preventing Slater from achieving his true earning potential.
It is understood Slater has been unhappy with his treatment under the new Storm management team, and would like to test the market.
In what shapes as one of the most unlikely turn of events in recent NRL history, it is the Dragons, having missed out on the arrival of Tigers utility Tim Moltzen, who look set to make a serious play for the current Dally M Medal winner.

Of course he would be unhappy.
