Dogs have bought a heap of players who did well at other clubs and have somehow managed to turn their fortunes around. I guess they bought better ones and have got the right balance. We have much better juniors than they do, but some of the previously good players who came here have been extremely disappointing, we should be doing better.

Gotta say well done to them with all the things last year about Ciraldo and his training came out. And also with the player suing the club etc. Seems like most of the players have bought into what Ciraldo is doing.

I can think of 4 'rebuild eras' since 2012. The Marina Go 2015 statement "we will be top 4 by 2017" has always hit bitter knowing how shit things were back then and they were doing absolutely nothing behind the scenes to make that happen. 13 years of missing the finals and rebuild after rebuild and the constant 'we have the best juniors coming through' tagline hasnt worked thus far. I just hope the kids we are actually seeing coming through now (if treated/nurtured/coached correctly) can finally be the era the die hard fans have been searching for.

Its our culture of zero accountability and having a shit 2nd tier team to hold the 1sts accountable. Not too many players in the last decade have given 2 shits about how bad they play as they are 1000% guaranteed to be named next week. Now we are seeing the kids coming through, hopefully the 'buy ins' and older guys will now have to perform. I couldnt carless if Klemmer is replaced by Jordan Miller, we have seen Sammy F perform far superior to anything Paps has produced, id even say Porter was working out better than Bateman. The recruiting at the Tigers across all tiers has been criminal.

NRL started in 98.
I suspect we arent the worst since then as some squads have covered themselves in shit just as much. Knights have had 4 spoons, Parra, Dogs and Rabbits have had 3 each.
Probably should count the exploits of Balmain and Wests? They were both turd buckets in 98 & 99 with Wests receiving the spoon both years and after having completed 46 games returned the stats of 656 scored (14.26/game) and 1746 against (37.96/game) ...a combined points differential for those 2 years of -1090 lol. Lest we forget what an abortion they were.
We have also had the least amount of finals appearances during the NRL era
We'd be in the bottom couple you'd suspect.

Taking out the 8 clubs that dont exist anymore in the NRL and with the exception of the NEagles those 7 clubs played for 2 seasons or less. Going back to the inception in 1998, The Tigers 40% is still the worst alongside GC 39% win rate since the modern NRL era. Yay Tigers.

I couldnt even imagine how bad it would be if we took out 2005, 2010, 2011. Those 3 years are bumping our overall win ratio by at least 10-15% I reckon.

I got into a heated argument with a Parra supporter last week crying a river about how bad Parra have been and woe me about being a Parra fan and how bad they have had it. Drop kick was in 3 GF in the NRL years and have won 3 times the amount of games the Tigers have won in the last 5 years. Im not sure what was more shocking, the complete BS he was spitting or I could understand what he was saying with a meth pipe in his mouth.

I get your point comparing us to another club, particularly given theres been a media focus on it, but I don’t see the comparison because the organisational structure is not the same.
At tigers we are more focussed on having “robust discussions” than strategic planning and working for successful outcomes.
I was appalled to learn that a board member was responsible for signing new players while at the same time holding a coach responsible for the same task/responsibility.
I know a lot of fans think we’ve turned the corner, we’ve been constantly fed this bullshit for many years. Marina Go told us in 2019 that they had reorganised to best practice following Pascoe’s ban.
To put it bluntly, I doubt very much we will follow Bulldogs timeline rise to success until we have a structure of individual accountability based on supportive teamwork.
until that happens we attract players at the end of their career and players wanting a start.

The overall 'plan' put in place through the Potter- Maguire year's never seemed to have an overall goal. (Maguire might be unfair to be honest- I know he was surprised/upset by the pathways non-development).

At least under Sheens, like him or not, there was a plan in place to develop young players- that was always a thing & it felt like we could go somewhere while he was around.

Not feasible for NRL but I love relegation and promotion. Tigers would have been relegated years ago which would have forced the hand of the board to make real administrative and cultural changes much earlier rather than bullshit spin and marketing... then again they may be lining up against Camden Rams this weekend after 5 straight relegations.

Yeah those are worse stats than I thought. At this point in time we are the second worst club of the NRL era spanning 27 years. However, there is an asterix beside that as Gold Coast are 172 games short of us. They are only 1 percentage point behind us for wins. It could be argued that we are the true bottom of the heap, which is not what I expected to be honest.

I know time/nostalgia does wonders but I often wonder what the joint would look like if Sheens didnt go in 2013. The dude just lead the team to 2010 and 2011 finals, missed 2009 by 1 point and just missed out in 2012 by 1 win yet got the flick. He would have been instrumental in the 2013-2017 years bringing through Brooks, Moses, Teddy, Sue and the other boys from that youth cup team akin to the 2003 cubs. Along with Benji and Robbie who the hell knows what could have happened? Instead the club 10 years later and a squad of shit got Sheens at 72 for a second stint FMD.
