Probably didn't describe that very well , some players are far better playing on the edge , playing by the seat of their pants

OK some bad things might happen , but you get a better overall result

Packer has been around long enough , he knows what work's for him

Funny how a coach like Bennett or Bellamy can work with all players ....some coaches if they don't fit the mold have to go ...

Good post. I agree. They don’t need to get along to have a working relationship and Packer, when fit, should be first grade.

Agree, wholeheartedly, I’d reckon a few of our engine room would love to see this mongrel inside them for the last few rounds this year going into hopefully a form finding and successful 2020 for that bloke! If he was on song and fit, then you can definitely have one of Eisenberg or Jason (E. Taylor) in the side for big minutes thus allowing us to target a replacement for Reynolds or high strike-rate outside backs, even if only bringing statistics over from CC or lower grades. It is time to take a punt on success, Packer as a man would want nothing more!!! All this “he doesn’t get along with his boss” is Dreamtime stories and nothing else...

Packer would have utmost respect for Madge and reality is nobody else will be silly enough to pick Packer up off us without seeing performance counters ticked off.

This whole story seems weird to me. I can't believe we would be standing in his way for a minute
What I can believe is that he might not be getting offers which we are happy to pay the balance of
If he's on $650k and someone is offering him $250k, maybe we are better hanging on to him rather than paying him $400k to play elsewhere. Having said that, at the moment we are paying him $650k to play elsewhere, albeit that elsewhere is our Canterbury Cup side
I'd imagine there is a number we are comfortable with paying, hopefully people are working hard on both sides to make something happen. The way it currently sits with him playing CC doesn't seem a sustainable arrangement and doesn't really help either party

@Curly_Tiger Something weird about this situation. Definitely something going on there that defies logic. And I recon this article is again filled with half truths.

Hasn’t really stood out playing in CC when fit. I’d be chock full of the angry pills, ripping and tearing wanting my FG spot back.

In order Twal, Mikalele, Aloai are our best props.
Eiso is more versatile and younger. What benefit is there in Packer at this stage. We have leadership in Benji, Farah, Lawrence in the team.
There’s an issue with Madge for sure and I can’t see any way he’s brought back.

Assuming he is injured again? Just looking at the cc team list and they have him listed as out..

He is big and aggressive, if he played like he did for the Dragons a few years ago he would be a big asset to our pack. He is listed as 119kg on the Wests Tigers site, Alex Twal is listed as 104kg.

I don't know whats going on between Russell, Madge and the club but it seems like a massive waste at the moment.

I see the problem as two fold; they can no longer do the job of starting props and they don't suit the up tempo game plan to have any impact off the bench. St George would probably have him back at the right price....time to cut our losses.

I think he would add a lot to our team at the moment. The starting side last night lacked line speed in defence which is one of Packer’s strengths.

Packer can’t play big minutes but if we started with him he could help address the bad starts we keep having.

Madge worked the bench wonderfully last night, there is no room in the squad for a back up hooker and 2nd rower...you get one liddle or lawernce, also I do think packer could take Clarke’s role...he was on just for the one stint with Twal playing big minutes of the bench and huth playing both lock and prop
