Just saw on Nine news, Ryan Tandy has apparently been found dead from an alleged drug overdose at his parents house. Wow. The bloke had a very checkered and controversial career. Either way that's quite sad to hear and my thoughts are with his family and friends.

Controversial former NRL player Ryan Tandy found dead in parents’ apartment of suspected overdose

DISGRACED former NRL star Ryan Tandy has been found dead at his parents’ Saratoga home.
In the latest tragic twist in a wasted life Tandy, a known drug user, died after an apparent drug overdose.
Tandy, 32, was a part-time NRL player thrust into the headlines when he fixed a game involving Canterbury and North Queensland in August 2010.
Despite pleading not guilty, Tandy was found guilty of spot fixing and banned for life from the NRL.
Since retiring from rugby league Tandy failed to live a quiet life, and was arrested in January for an alleged kidnapping offence linked to criminal bikie organisations.
Police are expected to release a statement within the next half hour confirming his death.
It is not known whether the death is being treated as suspicious or not.
He played for five NRL clubs over a career that tallied 36 games.

Very sad to hear….

No matter what he's done in the past it's a tragic death.
Rest in Peace Ryan.

Agreed.Tragic news.

Sorry, but i can't say i have much sympathy. Was only a few months ago he was charged with kidnapping a guy who owed money to a drug dealer, he was a stand over man. Not saying he deserved it all, but he wasn't a boy scout.

You think Benji has had a massive fall from grace, then you see Tandys tale.

Puts it in perspective

Very sad.

No death is good and his family has my sympathy, but you want to mix in the hard life then the stakes are far higher.

Got to do what we dream of for a living and it still wasn't good enough. Sad end for someone who had it better than most.

I can't help but suspect that Tandy was suffering a raft of underlying mental health issues. If that's the case it makes it all the more tragic.

Never ceases to horrify me that some people have such little sympathy. Very few people deserve to go out like this.

Sad news when any person OD's

I think despite what he did the NRL still had a responsibility for his health at some level

RIP Ryan Tandy My condolences to his family and friends

No doubts he had friends still involved at the Tigers

My first thought was "so what?"
I know that sounds harsh but he was a drug using, criminal loser who operated in shady circles…this end was inevitable.

That said, I do feel for his family who most probably tried their best to help him. It is a shame for them to see a talented guy waste his life like this.

Very sad news indeed to this very day I still reckon he was made a scapegoat for the betting scandal don't get me wrong he was on it up to his eyeballs but so to was a certain player manager (SA) who got off Scott free Tandy got banned for life and that was a big penalty that he couldn't over turn in any court and his life went in a down ward spiral after that. RIP Ryan Tandy

Very sad, especially for his family and friends, but I cannot say I am shocked by the news.

Tandy got banned from the NRL for life, Cameron Smith got made captain of Australia as his punishment for something that was equally as dodgy and deceitful. The double standards in the NRL are disgusting.
