Sack Sheens Thread

Lawrances career is going to be destroyed by Sheens if he is continually played at 5 8th

If I am not mistaken we won 3 in a row with a 7 Humble 6 Marshall combination and thought it was going fine as Humble would feed marshall quick balls

Not only Lawrence, I reckon Benji is a mere shadow of his former self.

i reckon Benji is done and dusted, i really havent seen him do a whole lot in the recent years. My thoughts could be exaggerated this year due to no halfback this year and his poor season has been really highlighted but geez he has gone backwards at a rate of knots. I think party Sheens is to blame by not giving him the half he needs but it just seems like he doesnt wanna be on the park most of the game. Could be all up in his own head and think hes a NZ Immortal already…dunno. Strikes me as pretty strange why Humble has gone walkabout...where is he? We looked good with him at half!

Sheens will walk away from Tigers if asked

WESTS TIGERS coach Tim Sheens says he will move on from his decade-long post as head coach of the club if officials ask him to do so.

Speculation has been mounting the veteran coach would be shown the door if the Tigers didn't make the finals this season. And after last night's loss at the hands of Melbourne Storm at Leichhardt Oval, the coach took time to answer his critics, who say three finals series in 10 years is not good enough.

"If they decide to move me on, then they'll move me on," Sheens said post-match. "That's the club, it's not me. That is something out of my control. It's something for the club to consider. There will always be speculation about the coach when a season drops away. Two weeks ago there wasn't that issue, two weeks down the track there is. But my plans are we've got to work hard to improve on what went wrong this year."

Without captain Robbie Farah, and with their fifth halves combination, the Tigers were a shambles against the Storm. Sheens said depth was a big issue for the club, a responsibility he shared, and that there would be a thorough season review. "Like every club who missed the eight, there will be heavy reviews and we'll look hard at that again," Sheens said. "From the staff down, it'll be a complete club review and then give them all some time off and back into training six weeks after the grand final. We'll review everybody's injuries and issues and sit down and have a one-on-one with everybody."

Star halfback Benji Marshall was just as honest, admitting his performances in recent weeks had been well below standard.

"I'm not going to lie - I wasn't happy with my game today," Marshall said. "It wasn't one of my best, but not through lack of trying. I probably tried too hard. Obviously, we missed Robbie. Robbie has played Origin, for his country and he is our captain. When we work together, it's a lot easier when he takes control of that ruck and I can play my normal role. But that's not an excuse."

Sheens said: "Our depth needs to be improved - we really need to look hard at that because we really had trouble when one or two of our key players dropped out. It's just a season of disappointment."

In front of a home crowd, the Tigers were in a class of their own - NSW Cup, in fact. And while Melbourne were dragged down to their sloppy level at times, it was clear from the outset who would be playing finals football next week. The final scoreline confirmed it.

Other than a short spurt either side of the break, the rudderless Tigers never looked in the match.

But it wasn't all sunshine and lollipops for Craig Bellamy either, with try-scoring centre Will Chambers leaving the field with a serious hamstring injury that could rule him out of next week's qualifying final with South Sydney. Second-rower Todd Lowrie also suffered a pec injury that will be assessed today.

Regardless, Bellamy is confident the likely returns of Jason Ryles, Anthony Quinn and Justin O'Neill mean his side won't lose any ground to the Rabbitohs in Melbourne.

The super coach will come up against his protege Michael Maguire, and had a grin on his face as he described an in-form Souths outfit.

One got the sense he was proud of Maguire's achievements in his first season as an NRL coach. And both he and captain Cameron Smith were only too aware of the threat former teammate Greg Inglis posed.

Surely the board can see that Sheens needs to go. His decisions, injured player replacements, constant shuffling, moving players out of positions has killed us and it's not the first year that this has happened.

Certainly tried too hard, but you're not a halfback and you certainly shouldn't be expected to control a game, that's not your job. He should be played to his strengths, 2 wide of the ruck at 5/8 and play his running game. At times this year, it appears he's going a mile a minute, but most of it backwards and not achieving anything.

Would you rather start 2013 with a new coach, new players and go thru a building phase by keeping a few of the current squad OR retain someone who is basically going to offer the same approach, recycle old players and "mates" - including dare I say it Roycy and continue to blame events rather than himself?

Pretty simple choice, I think.

I have woken up with a new opinion. Sheens, during his tenure at wests has never really been under pressure to keep his job…real pressure anyways. But this morning I have read 2 new articles about him being moved on and I'm curious to see how he reacts..maybe this will bring out a new, brutal coach who makes the tough choices or try's something new? That and I read it would cost the club a mill to get rid of him which isn't viable.

More frightening is that Humphreys stated that Sheens position isn't under review.

Simple : because of his clause in his contract (don't make the 8 ) expect a tap on the shoulder…
Our players have been hearing the same voice for 9 years.

But the mill we would have to pay is the down side. Our memberships would be around 6k for a bronze next year lol

no with that clause it's stated that only half of his contract would need to be payed , if that's the case it would only be $500,000 1 year's worth. If you believe what the paper's have stated.
I'm sure Harry Triguboff would pay that money as a tip . Coaches pay don't come into play with the salary cap.

Funny how perspective can be so easily manipulated

It has been said that sheens has only made finals 3 times in last 15 years …. Not a good record , fair call

BUT ! Sheens has made finals twice in the last 3 years , and only just missed out this year .

All else aside including the disappointment of this season , a coach who has made the finals 2 years out of the last 3 does not deserve to be sacked .

If he doesn't learn from this year and improve dramatically next year , then I would start looking at other coaching options .

But for next year I would be keeping him .
