I was genuinely hopefully Wests Ashfield wouldn't do that….

They have removed their 4 members from the Magpies board who were Magpie aligned, replaced them with 4 new members who I fear might just toe Ashfields line.

That gives them the majority, and essentially a 4th position on the Wests Tigers board giving them the Wests Tigers the unanimous decision they need to do this.

Thing is Galahs, the majority of people probably don't have a problem with that.

They need to put this to a vote by the members. If the members agree, then so be it. I'm sick of all these back room deals being done without any consultation or voting on by members.

It's OUR footy club as much as anyone from Wests Ashfield. So it should be voted on.

The board was voted in by the people of the club, to do what they think is best for the club and uphold it's constitution. Obviously they feel this decision is within the constitution of what's best for rugby league in the region.

If you want to make change, you will most likely need to remove the board at the next election. Maybe your rally might see you gain enough votes to be elected? (don't hold your breath though. Julia Gillard wasn't voted in by the Australian People at the last election, but her back room deals allowed her to stay PM?)

Either way, stick to your guns, deliver a great speech and people might see you as a suitable leader to get their votes!

To me, the biggest issue is making sure WT put as much effort into the Liverppol/Macarthur reigon as they do with Inner Sydney. Thats the only issue as far as i'm concerned

What makes you say they aren't? Apart from the training venue what other areas do you see the WT devoting more resources to the inner west over Macarthur?

Who has left the board? Who has come onto the board?

Gobbs will know.

…..Wests Ashfield, as the chief funder of the Magpies club, has taken radical steps to restore unity - requesting the resignation of the Magpies chairman Paul Dillon - and installing four new directors, including former Wests and Balmain player Mick Liubinskas.
>
Liubinskas, together with three former Wests first-grade coaches, convened a meeting of 60 past Magpies players in December, alerting them to the divisions and asking them to renew their memberships.......

Open training sessions, fan days, clinics, and training at Ctown in the week leading up to a match there. Those sorts of things would go a long way

Agreed… This would be a very easy thing for the Club to do and send a good positive message.

Do we still host a Kids To Kangaroos clinic in the June/July Holidays every year? If so, maybe alternate between Inner Wests and South West?

They should do that sort of stuff in all the areas they cover. To me its not a matter of evening things up but improving these things in both regions we cover.

The important issue of the current state of the junior league seems to have been forgotten (which I thought was the initial reason this rally was organized for).

I want a wears magpies, and I agree with what the save our sides want from the rally, but I think a stronger message would be to get 10,000 plus people to Campbelltown stadium on Wednesday night for the Sydney fc v Perth glory.

I thought the same.

It seems though that the issue of junior league was tacked on as it is popular.

Alot of the rhetoric seems to be about one side getting screwed in the joint venture and that is coming from the rally's organiser so it seems yet again that the truly important issue of the junior league in the Macarthur is trotted out and used as a ploy as it has been for years by elements of the WSDJRL.

(Please note that the above reference is not aimed at Gobbs as I believe he is one of those working for the betterment of RL in the Macarthur. It is unfortunate that for so many years people like Gobbs have been held back by te self serving agendas of others)

No Talent ? Who said that ?
Minor premiers SG Ball 2011, One win away from SG Ball Grand Final in 2010.

There is loads of talent, Point is that talent is going elsewhere although I don't think his 9 kids from Wests playing for Parra is right.

No, Roy got that wrong - it was the Bulldogs Matt's Cup team from 2 or 3 seasons back that had 9 Wests juniors on board.
His point remains just as valid however.

!

Well actually it wasn't.

The magpies board has 3 elected members, and 4 members inserted by Wests Ashfield.

Wests Ashfield are dictating terms without going to their members let alone the football clubs.

Again correct, but the majority of their board is made up of debenture holders who their members don't vote in.

Everything is so bloody complex behind the scenes of the Wests Group it makes your head spin.

its about winning the hearts and minds in the macarthur area and the wests tigers arent doing that because they are so focused on the inner west when the real battle is in the south west

Won't they do that by focusing on the juniors and therefore families in the south west? rather than a state cup that nobody watches?

Get the kids playing in a Magpie Jersey with a Wests tigers emblem on the sleeve, give them free passes to the games, get the players into the schools and you watch the hearts and minds being won over.

The only hearts and minds that aren't being won are a handful of selfish rusted on magpie supporters that can't see a bigger picture or know what a sound business case is.
