Wt's have paid lip service for far too long to the Macarthur region. **In hindsight, the merger should have been based out of Campbelltown from the start with Balmain as the feeder team**. Having the team based at concord is a cop out. The MacArthur region is ripe for the picking and has easts and coffs harbor united salivating

What a ridiculous statement. I think certain people need to look up the definitions of the words "fair" and "equitable" before sprouting them as buzzwords.

Care to elaborate on why my statement is so ridiculous? Its hardly a provactive statement

I don't mind you disagreeing with my thoughts, we live in a democracy after all, but try playing the ball and not the man

You're entitled to your opinion of course, but after thirty odd pages of being lectured in fairness and equity by select members who either are organising or in support of this rally (and I know you're not of said people,) I found that particular statement within your post was anything but.

It wasn't my intention for you to take it as a personal insult, and I apologise if you saw it that way.

Seriously if you just called the team the Tigers you wouldn't lose more than a handfull of supporters. If we reverted back to Balmain Tigers would only lose a trickle more.

About as silly as Alf's comments. Trickle = half membership base.

13 years ago Balmain faced the reality they would not be able to compete in a national competition standing alone, now you argue otherwise? **Many on here complain about old Wests fans complaining about the fairness of the JV (sometimes warranted), but many old Balmain fans on here have delusions of grandeur.**

We are stuck with each other in a symbiont relationship that is successful. Thoughts of standing alone for either Wests or Balmain is pure fantasy.

True. But nodody is marching to Leichhardt Town Hall demanding action. You are spot on though Gary with your comments although I think some of the more rabid pro-Balmain comments are a kickback against some of the perceived lack of respect shown by some during this debate to the Balmain side of things.

You are certainly correct in saying there is no going back for either side and that everyone needs to realise that compromise and negotiation are the key to WT harmony rather than demands.

You do need a starting position and I guess the protest has provided this position with the list of demands. If there is significant support, negotiation will follow. I am sure compromise and sanity will prevail.

Only if there has been a significant change in the admin of the Wests District RL because thy are seemingly incapable of compromise. Their M.O has, for the last 8 years, been Our way or the highway followed by bleating if anyone chose the highway

Be happy with the Magpie on the jersey guys (there is no Balmain on there) and concentrate on the issues with the juniors.

Why hasn't anyone brought the rediculousness of this comment to attention? i'm sure if the comment was the other way around it would be considered trolling and there would be threats of going on mod preview

Hence the 4 new Ashfield directors on the board of the Football Club.

I removed your comment… It added nothing to the discussion and since you have appeared to voice a dislike to 'trolling', thought it best to have it removed.

But how isn't the other comment considered the same? If Gallahs or Bug or another Magpie Diehard said that if the magpies left the merger only a trickle of fans would be lost, wouldn't that comment be deleted, or at the least be given a warning?

Sorry Gary - didn't mean we should actually do either - although I don't think old Maggie supporters make up half of our current supporter base.
Apart from original Wests and Balmain supporters the majority of younger supporters just follow the "Tigers".
Sad , but true , they don't give a fig about junior football or where the players are developed - just the fact they play for the "Tigers"
Was trying to make the point that the rally has seemed to turn away from fixing problems with the juniors to be all about the perceived Balmain domination of the JV
You only have to read the comments on this forum - plenty of supporters don't even care that the team is a hybrid of two former clubs and care less about their history.

I agree, it is equally silly and divisive.

His point may have been that many are neither Balmain or Magpies anymore, so a move away would not hurt much.

Prob not the thing to say in this argument.

Edit: Sorry CK did not see you response.

Gary I also acknowledge that Balmain would not have survived without the JV and would not survive without Wests.

We'll see how they go at crushing the Newspaper articles

I reckon this might have something to do with it Galahs…

I'm sure the rally group will find something to whinge about this…..

The longer this debate goes on, the more ridiculous this rally is becoming.

After deliberation among the administrators and moderators, it has been decided that this thread is now locked. Wests Tigers Forum is 100% supportive of the actions of the Wests Tigers and see no relevance in this thread continuing. Forum members have been warned and placed on mod-preview due to multiple breaches of forum rules, and once again this thread has gradually steered off topic and caused unnecessary division between Wests Tigers Forum members.
