All we want is a fair go.

Wests Tigers are now sending all U20's players not required for match day to Concord Burwood Bundy Cup team. This includes local Macarthur kids who would rather play for the Magpies.

So now these kids, some on measly $5,000 contracts, have to travel all the way into the city to train with Burwood Concord, when they could have simply played with the Magpies! The Wests Tigers are now just being spitefull.

The final nail is when I found out that the Wests Tigers are providing us with ZERO support this year. Not even Gatorade or strapping!!!!! Something they have done since the joint venture began yet they are fully supporting Balmain.

HOW IS THAT A JOINT VENTURE?????

All we ask is that we return to how it was from 2000-2005 and 2008-2010.

I don't see what is so wrong about that and why the great opposition.
 
Galahs I totally understand what you are saying and being a Magpie tragic myself this is very painful to see

But if the Wests board and administration chose to go it alone which has been widely touted on this Forum they only have themselves to blame and maybe you should be complaining to them

Alone is alone , and if they have chosen this what can we expect . You can say one thing and then stick your hand out and still want support ,

Wests wont be happy until the teams name is changed to Wests Magpies, all games are played at Campbelltown, our colours are black and white only, and Balmain are completely extinct.

I can accept that you want an improved junior league but you have to accept as far as ground allocations and training/office HQ you are part of a merged entity.

In my opinion we are lucky to even get 4 games a year at Leichhardt and Campbelltown. To be perfectly honest apart from their heritage they are sub-standard and we could just as easily decide to play all games at Sydney Football Stadium.

Its not a dictatorship. If Wests Magpies didn't want to merge their NSW Cup team, that should have been the end of it. The arrangement should have been carried on that we have two NSW Cup teams as was stated in the Wests Tigers constitution.

Completely untrue.

The Wests Magpies board supports the Wests Tigers, as do the majority of its supporters.

We just want to make sure our interests are maintained. We just want a fair go which is plainly obvious that we are not getting.

Presumably someone from the Magpies directors on the WT board is voting in favour of these things? I find it hard to believe the Balmain directors are making arbitary decisions that have blanket opposition from the Magpies people. I'm happy to be corrected though.

And of what benefit is it to them to go against the rest of the Wests Campbelltown Galahs? Perhaps this person believes that a completely merged entity is the way forward and thus may receive more assistance and development from WT for working alongside them instead of going it alone? And if that is the case, the term traitor is perhaps a little loaded?

I'm not trying inflame the debate or be a smartarse either, I'm asking serious questions. There must be a method behind the madness…

Widely known amongst Wests Magpies members perhaps or people who follow the internal politics of Wests Campbelltown which is probably a small percentage of forum members.

You're saying the vote is basically Balmain + 1 person in favour, everyone else against? If this is the case, how does this one person maintain his position as a representative on the WT board if he is a rogue delegate voting against the wishes of Wests Campbelltown? I'd have thought the Campbo board would have passed a no confidence motion in him.
 
The Wests side of the Wests Tigers board is made up of:

3 from Wests Ashfield Leagues Club
1 from Wests Leagues Club Campbelltown
1 from Western Suburbs Football Club

therefor you can see how people with different aggendas can influence Wests Tigers decisions not supported by the Majority of Wests fans.
 
Wests Leagues Club Campbelltown doesn't support the Western Suburbs Magpies in any way financially, so it is no skin off their nose to vote to kick them out.

i'm not sure how they should be entitled to have a vote in the issue, but they do.
 
Ah okay. Thanks for that explanation. I would be interested though to know your thoughts on that voting structure. Given the nature of this thread I would have thought having 3 Ashfield and 1 Campbelltown delegage(s) is a bit of an imbalance.
 
Either that or Wests Campbelltown aren't interested in funding a reserve grade/feeder team that would be based in Campbelltown. And I mean no malice in that - it is just an assessment of how it appears.

That answers one of my questions, but you would think Yoss has it right when he says that surely they'd know it was political suicide to vote against members wishes? I'd assume a large contingent of Wests Campbelltown members would like to see the Magpies survive in some capacity at the state cup level?

I'm curious as to know why they have not aligned themselves the other Wests board members if the aforementioned is the case?

Galahs has the issue of the support of the Wests Magpies state cup team being supported by the Wests Leagues Club Campbelltown ever been raised as an issue at an AGM?
 
The membership of clubs - actually let me more specific - the **voting** membership of registered clubs is generally extremely low. I'd say your efforts are better placed in trying to unseat the board at Campbelltown. I agree that the average member won't give a toss but you only need to convince the voting members.

I don't know mate, that's why I'm asking you.

In any case, your response has basically laid it out. Wests Campbelltown obviously feels that providing funding for state cup/juniors rep teams etc is dead money that could be spent elsewhere (for reasons that you may have already mentioned or not,) or simply that they would rather ride the coattails of WT which is probably far more sustainable. Not saying it's right or wrong, but it clarifies the situation a little better.

Sounds like Wests Campbelltown have no priority for league in their own backyard. I can understand the disillusion from the area if they (Wests Leagues Leumeah,) is unwilling to get involved at the grassroots level. I don't have any problems with these issues being brought up and addressed, as long as it doesn't impede on the short- and long- term success and viability of Wests Tigers, as this is our only representation at the top flight level of the game.

What sense does that make?
The big issue is that like in `2011 selection of out fringe players who now represent BRET is often wrong. By having two feeder clubs it gives us many more options to fall back on when our reserve grade side is performing terribly like it did in `2011.
As for combinations, they should be training once per week at Campbelltown with the Wests Magpies side so that combinations are not a problem when the Wests Magpies players are called apon.

regardless of how they are performing, or which state cup side they are from, players with full time contracts will almost always come into the squad.

Having 2 reserve grade sides in reality does not increase your options, (excluding the rare situations where you have 2 players in the full times squad who prefer to play in the same spot and are both outside the top 17) However by having 2 sides you reduce how often your second tier players play together.

1 side means you can more easily use all the same structures and all the same calls, plays and systems. With 2 it gets harder. The more you dilute the full timers the further it gets away from NRL structure. Part time players regardless of ability are not going to play to patterns as well as full time players.
