Sounds like you’ve judged Bozo pretty well. Just a thoroughly unlikable guy.I know a person, a good decent hardworking guy ( one of the few I know) that Bob Fulton completely ripped off. Refused to pay him for good work rendered.
Bozo had a very strange and entitled view about money. He was legendary, rude and mean to the core.
I am judging Scott on his his role with us and from what I know about him he got a pass.
I don’t think he was ever a fully patched up member for Lee and Co. Scott was about Scott!
Jarome came because of Richo's glowing praise in his first press conference as well as their previous history when he was at Souths, as well as the Benji factor. I'm willing to bet Jarome didn't want to come to Tigers with the same board and even Fulton there who wanted Schuster and CoggerI think you’re making some assumptions.
Fulton brought some good players in and he worked on the JL project which had been foot for awhile.
Clubs will do all kinds of things at any time to secure target players.
Even Lee and co where into their Jerome.
People are rarely all bad or all good is my general position.
I don’t really mind if anyone disagrees.
It’s on record Benji sold him a vision and said he sees a lot of himself in Luai. I’d be give Marshall the kudos for selling the vision and HBG the kudos for finally putting out the trash.Jarome came because of Richo's glowing praise in his first press conference as well as their previous history when he was at Souths, as well as the Benji factor. Nah....
I was actually with the board on this one. Sheens wasn't giving on field results. Seriously after the upgrade in our front row from 2022 -> 2023, we were coming dead set last.
The boards mistake was investing in Sheens to be "head coach", meaning he should have been improving Madge and sorting out the more structural issues. Things like "headhunting a halfback and thinking Adam Reynolds contract is about to expire and we have his old coach here*...". We should have seen involvement from Sheens and I saw no evidence of this.
Then the board appoints Sheens as coach, and with a better side we seemed to do worse in 2023.
Ofcourse the board was going to look outside the Sheens/Marshall/Farah bubble. We were more inbred then Tasmania!!! Why would the board tell Sheens when the board would suspect Sheens may try to sabotage the deal.
BTW all this makes me super sad and I rellish None of this. Sheens was a highly creative and exciting coach. I rather think of him as the Citroen of coaches, completely different and unusual. Sadly he had to end his career this way.
*instead we sign Jackson Hastings and Donkeys get Reynolds.
Oh and so much more...Yeah, I share many of the sentiments expressed here, exciting post.
I’ll up the ante a bit for interest.
The decision to invite Tim back on board the ship in any capacity was Ill thought out and lacked any merit whatsoever.
There was no due diligence done as to his then current capabilities before he re-emerged either as manager or coach.
The results were catastrophic.
There’s so many failures to list.
This idiotic business of sacking Madge to try to lure Ciraldo and then Ciraldo stiffs us.
That all should have been sorted out before we punted Madge. Car park understanding. We learned nothing from the Lats embarrassment.
An uncomfortable Noddy and 16 Applications for fg coach all binned so another mate gets the job.
Because it was “on the mate”, not merit or anything approaching professionalism.
Which is not a comment on Benji, but how he got the job sucked.
If he fails I suppose we blame the old guard.
Madge got worse under Tim. They say he had genuine personality changes. It was an unhealthy atmosphere.
Did Tigers have HR under the previous management or was it just dumb and dumber trying to keep all the egos in check?Yeah, I share many of the sentiments expressed here, exciting post.

Yes, it was a surprising political move by Scott and his team, which underestimated the strength of Benji and his allies. If he doesn’t support the coach his position can’t remain. It’s very simple. We will see once they play games for us if his recruitment was a pass on recruitment. His role however doesn’t get a pass for me because he couldn’t keep his views on Benji to himself / support what Benji wanted which was just dumb especially at a club with high media focus, a history of punting coaches infighting.
Marshall played off the bench in the 2021 GF.Oh please...
Jerome came because of Benji Marshall, Api Koroisau, Staines and Naden.
Jerome could have easily been lured to the dogs, but I suspect the dogs were not keen on him and had Burton locked in at NR7.
The club Manager, the board and all that stuff just isn't relevant to him. Players pass balls, train at gym, tackle and that's that. They don't care about the board level and maybe wave at the club chairman occasionally. Luai knew Pascoe, maybe liked him a little, doubt he mattered anywhere near as much as Koroisau.
What I think swung him was Luai actually lined up in a grand final against Marshall. The more I think about it, the more I go "wow, that is some weird history"... Even though I don't believe Marshall played that round.
Good players make good coaches.Yes, it was a surprising political move by Scott and his team, which underestimated the strength of Benji and his allies.
I think Scott sensed a weakness and he struck a cruel and harmful blow. I said it before, I am not a Benji person, but even if he had skin in the game with salad, the differences should have been aired privately or taken to Justin or the Board.
So I understand your concern. If he’d gotten away with it, Benji would be waiting for the next grab at his throat.
So much for Lees threat of defamation for Peters. Talked the talk and we all knew it was his usual bluster.
Benji denied it and it all got swept under the tail. I don’t know the truth to this day, push comes to shove, I’d back Benji, even if I’m wrong.
Harto and Madge had that shocking public blow up at the airport that day.
Scott’s signings are untested but so is Benji as a coach.
I guess the jury remains out on so many of our issues.
But as a paid up member, skin in the game, I’m ok to be sketchy about a few things. Plus it’s in the fan DNA!
I’m hoping Benji can get the players to optimum, thread the needle, but we are still new to this change, adjusting and hopefully learning.
All bets were off when we gave Tim’s wife a job.Did Tigers have HR under the previous management or was it just dumb and dumber trying to keep all the egos in check?
Huge no to anything involving Flanno.Oh and so much more...
Sacking Madge in ... May. Sure he was ready to go but line up the replacement. If you have hired Madge till May, let him take the hurt. Don't just throw a new coach to the wolves.
Kimmorley was a real knee jerk reaction. Look Kimmorley actually seemed to coach a little of Sheen's fast footy but we really needed to get some basics downpat. Wrong guy for the wrong job. I would have loved if Kimmorley kept coaching the womens side...
BTW how the hell did our club end up inheriting the Bulldogs dumped Kimmorley? I mean I kinda don't mind this, but Kimmorley was never our player. I know he wanted to Coach and the dogs got him to stop playing so he could coach... and somehow he came here???
^Anyone??
After the disaster that was Kimmorley, the Sheens/Marshall plan should have been rejected. Seriously I was ready to quit this club and maybe need to find a Wests Tigers Anonymous.
I just cannot believe that with Shane Flanagan around and Des Haslier newly sacked that the club stuck with Sheens. If Marshall was the plan throw Flanagan a 2-3 season lifeline then put Marshall in after doing reserve grade coaching.
I missed the Gal Sheens exchange. All bets were off when we gave Tim’s wife a job.
Who could forget Gallen challenging Tim about his take up as coach. The only time I saw Tim freaking out.
When Gal became the only real journalist in Australia, because he had no fear. No job to lose, no interest to forgo.
It reminded me a bit of Brohman when he let loose on Lee over the radio.
I’ll wait and see, there’s no choice anyway!Good players make good coaches.
So Benji has started off well.
Let’s see how many more follow Luai along.
I’ve been trying to find it with no success.I missed the Gal Sheens exchange.
He told everyone it would take 3 years and they gave him six weeks. We’ll never know how it would have panned out but it wasn’t happening under that management.
Tim was interviewed before the season and said, the first year you watch and learn, the second year you make changes and the third year you start to see results. I was on board with that. He signed some stars. Management lost their nerve after 6 weeks. We beat Penrith the following week but Tim had checked out.I’ve been trying to find it with no success.
Basically Gal quoted Sheens as saying he was “back for his performance role and not to coach” after he arrived back as Madge was struggling and there was talk about Tim picking up the chalk.
Tim got a bit cut at the question. Said he was “called upon”
It was Gal putting his close friend under the bus.
I’m glad Tim walked out. API said his coaching wasn’t quite the fit for the players. Very diplomatic.
Whatever Madge had done to the players, Tim managed to aggravate and make much worse.
But yeah, we gave him a preseason….then
Tim said it would 3 games to get a grip of the problem, then 5 and by round 6 or 7 it suddenly became a season or 2.
No offence to Tim, but he couldn’t handle anything.
But he made his own indirect contribution to the bringing down of our incompetent management and no doubt we all thank him and are eternally grateful for that!!
Yeah you are right on all counts, but I am not sure Tim had checked out then.Tim was interviewed before the season and said, the first year you watch and learn, the second year you make changes and the third year you start to see results. I was on board with that. He signed some stars. Management lost their nerve after 6 weeks. We beat Penrith the following week but Tim had checked out.
Thanks, I’m trying.Like your thinking TK, welcome to the forum and keep the good , logical stuff coming !
