SEAN MEANEY

Seems to be a regular occurrence with you. Anyway, who knew criticizing a reserve grader could illicit such emotional reactions.

I comment on a lot of topics, not everything is about you.

And there is a difference between criticizing and straight out disrespect.

come on guys, he's still a WT player, lets not fight amongst each other.

Meaney hasnt been super, he hasnt been steady either. He had me pulling my hair out the last game he played.
He was there and he got the job done.
He has some ability for Potter to have faith in him and to call him up in difficult times.

He hasnt set the world on fire and till he does lets rest this one.

Sean is not ready yet but did his job whenever he has been called up. For that he has earned my respect and gratitude.
When he is ready on his own the next time, he will be his own man. Meanwhile, he needs our encouragement and goodwill. Go Sean Go.

Lol he's 27 yrs old.

He has been a loyal clubman for many years and made a few errors in the last of his half dozen or so 1st grade games as a short term replacement player. I have a lot of respect for players of this ilk, they are the foundations of the team/club and great for up and coming players that may have more natural ability, but not the same tenacity or discipline.

Reserve grade standard player who gets called up when we are in trouble or when there is no one else to call up. I'm sure he tries his best but he is just not up to it.

Its amazing to think he gets payed to play footy for a living. The guy has no right to be on a first grade rugby league field.

I used to say similar things about players. Chris Patterson copped most of my acerbic comments. Then I grew up and realised it was just nasty.

Meaney is a player with limited talent who is a leader within our club. I give him credit for playing each year knowing a long term first hrade position is remote. He deserves some respect.

I just like to give him a special mention. He has been fantastic and very safe for us this year with every appearance. Keep it up, you are a quality back up player.

You have to earn respect. I guess its easier to earn respect in some peoples eyes than others. If people want to kiss his backside thats fine, but i don't see why others have to be criticized about giving an honest opinion. He's a big boy, i'm sure he doesn't need all of these white knights defending his honour.

He played like complete rubbish his last game out. Never seen him do much. Hopefully with returning players he doesnt get another look in ever again. Id say he'll wrap up his first grade career with about 10 games how many has he played? Must be less then 10\. A guy with pretty average skill to play 10 first grade games he could consider himself pretty lucky and bless the injury gods. Bye Sean

he did set up the first try. has more of a passing game than tedesco.

i know tedesco will be better, but he hasnt done much attack wise yet for us.

He'd be a solid First Grader…..

...

....In the ESL.

I think he needs a new manager personally - a player of such alarming mediocrity who has played a staggering number of NSW cup games should be making a much more comfortable living tearing up the ESL.

Examples include Rhys Hanbury, Adrian Purtell, and Daniel Holdsworth.

Meaney is a solid back up ,nothing more nothing less

Wonder if Molttzen is kept and with the signing of Richards whether Meaney will be let go for a younger player with more potential

you have to want to play there…

i'd rather earn less money and live in sydney than have to train and play in cold wet conditions all the time.

Thats it mtd. Big decision to move over there.

Not sure about Meaneys situation, but he might have concerns about family or work/study commitments etc.

Or maybe he just likes his life and is happy where he is.

I wonder why guys make comments like this, maybe their just bored or have some need to inflate their ego at the expense of someone elses.

As far as I can see Meaney has given a good show of himself when called upon ( usually in less than favourable situations)

It's got to be the only reason he is still at the Tigers. He must honestly love it here.

… and that's what leaves me torn as a fan - Meaney is a loyal, reliable hard working player - except he's not good enough to be in my top Tigers side. I won't be reminiscing his heroics in 20 years time with fellow tigers supporters amongst names such as Farah, Hodgson, Marshall, Tedesco and Brooks (oooh, see what I did there!)
