…personally i think the current system is rubbish.
the afl has it much better where the bottom 4 play and the top four play first week.

What s the motivation to win in the AFL top 4??

I like our current system. It isnt perfect but it keeps you interested til the last whistle of the Sunday (1 v 8) game.

My relos down Mexico way say there are plenty that hate the AFL system.

Neither system is very good in my opinion, both have glaring holes in them, if we are to change I think we need to take a big step forwards, not a little one forwards and a big one sideways.

I found this a good site to take the mystery from guessing who we will beat in the finals

Yep. The only negative in the AFL system (which, ironically, THEY copied from the ARL) is that if EITHER 1st or 2nd lose in week one, they can't play each other in the grand final. However, if they both lose they can still play in the GF.

Thing is, under the AFL system, we'd have a tough game against Melbourne this week, which we'd probably lose, then we'd be playing the Dragons next week (coming off a win against the Knights who aren't very physical).

It looks like our reward for winning is being the team to send the scum out next week in straight sets. Pretty good reward if you ask me.

if we play manly we should ask adam blaire to sit on our sidelines with our staff just to add a bit of tension to the match

Have a go at how many fans Manly have got to their game. Barely nobody! If we have them next week, we'll have 'em covered 4 to 1.

Brisbane/Cowboys/Melbourne win
Next week: Manly
Week after: Brisbane

Possibly the option at the moment. Manly looking very wobbly. And the crowd at the game is pathetic :roll

bRISBANE…...in Brisbane???? :frowning:

To be the best you have to beat the best. It's not going to be handed to you on a platter like Julia gilliard

This finals system can throw up some real curve balls. However we knew that after finishing 4th. Only 1st and 2nd have a degree of control about where and when they play.

By the way, Manly in Sydney wouldn't be a bad result. With no Glenn Stewart we will send them packing.

If the top 4 go through,we play aukland and win .We okay Melb in Melb preliminary final wtf..WEsts tigers better do some special deals to get fans down there or goodbye tigers

Week 1 of the Mcintyre is fair enough, give or take a bit of home ground advantage, however week 2 is a debarcle.

Essentially the middle games (teams 3 to 6) are more or less playing for home ground advantage the following week, which is eradicated if they are from the same state!

If there is 1 upset , the winner of the 4 v5 game is rewarded by playing a top 3 side, why the loser plays a team in the bottom half of the 8…..The winners do get home ground advantage, as long as they are from different states.

Even if the games all go to plan, The teams on the odd numbers have in theory a harder game in the game that is definately sudden death, 3 v 5, as opposed to 4 v 6\. a small difference, but the system makes no sense and offers little reward for the season proper and makes winning and losing a bit of pot luck, some years 5 gets knocked out after a loss, other years 6 loses and survives.

It is a ridiculous system, the AFL is far superior in every way.

St george can beat Brisbane . Warriors are just woeful and I believe st merge has had little luck and could spring an upset
