Not sure this has been done (if so merge)

**Possible Scenarios**
(Assuming Melbourne win - can't see them losing in Melb)

1) Melbourne +Manly + Brisbane win
Week 2 - Wests Tigers v Warriors in Sydney
Week 3 - Melbourne in Melbourne

2) Melbourne +Manly + Warriors win
Week 2 - Wests Tigers v Brisbane in Sydney
Week 3 - Manly in Sydney

3) Melbourne +Cowboys + Brisbane win
Week 2 - Wests Tigers v Manly (Fri or Saturday) in Sydney
Week 3 - Brisbane in Brisbane

4) Melbourne +Cowboys + Warriors win
Week 2 - Week off
Week 3 - Home (GF Qualifier) final

Scenario 4) is my favoured option. Week off, home final game to qualify for the GF !

IN OTHER WORDS - LIFFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT !!! :sign:

Storm + Cowboys + Warriors win this weekend = Play Warriors in Week 3…....Because I want a week off.

Ohh But then its Storm in Grand Final
 
If no other top 4 team lose then we will play on the Saturday night. If 1 lose then it's the Friday and any more then that we have the week off!

No….if any interstate or OS teams like Melb Cowboys Bris NZ finish top 4 and they keep winning they can play all their semis at home (NQ would play week III at suncorp)

Ink's right the Brisbane v Melbourne game a couple of years when Melbourne scored in the last minute to make the GF was played at Suncorp
Sorry Ink I was about to give you a mouthful and say you were wrong until i remembered that game :blush:
 
Melb flogged Brisbane in wk III in Melb too in 09…also beat Parra down there wk III in 07

I think option 2 may eventuate....wouldnt be bad.
Prefer option 4 tho
 
Of all tensing Favourites win we play nz at sfs on fri. Then we play melb in melb in the preliminary . Broncos v saints at Lang and winner plays manly in Sydney on fri week.

If the Cowboys upset Manly tonight, next week will be:

Tigers v Manly

Cows v Dragons

So…we beat Saints and get to play team 2 (Manly)

Saints lose and get to play team 7 (Cows)

What a complete joke of a system.

I can't believe we copied it off the AFL.............who abandoned it as it's a joke.

The AFL are light years ahead of us in terms of common sense.

It's not a joke.

At the start of the finals season everyone says it's a new comp, therefore if the cowboys win they should be rewarded with playing a losing team (saints).
Now our reward would be playing a losing team in Manly.
Whats the point of having finals if the winning team doesn't get an advantage.
Forget what Manly have come during the regular season its finals time.

The AFL are light years ahead of us in terms of common sense.

It is a joke mate. One or two injuries or supsensions and the entire season is turned on it's head.

This weekend should have been Melb v Us…Manly v Broncs.

All others eliminations.
 
atm the broncos will beat the warriors(10minutes to go and lead by 20 points) and if storm win and manly win then its TIGERS vs WARRIORS but i think manly can be beaten so its also a chance we will play MANLY
im sure this weekend wont fail to entertain!!!
 
Ive always hated the McIntyre system, not only because of those points mentioned, but if the Cowboys win, they get a home final!
We were punished in 05 but managed to get through it. We beat the Cowboys (5th) and had to play week 2 vs Brisbane (3rd) while the Cowboys, who got hammered got to play Melbourne (6th), we were just good enough to get through it.
And we haven't even mentioned the fact that it can virtually make 2 out of the 4 week 1 finals matches meaningless.
At least with AFL system, every match has a meaning, there is a reward for the winner, and a punishment for the loser. The reward and punishment depends on your position on the ladder.

1st and 2nd get a home final and either a 2nd chance or a week off with a home final the following week or in the prelim.
It's the same for 3rd and 4th except the first finals match is away.
5th and 6th get home finals but it's sudden death and they have to play away for the rest of the finals.
And 7th and 8th play away finals all the way through with it being sudden death.

Makes perfect sense for me, it ensures close matches all the way through, every match has a meaning and there is an equal reward or punishment depending on your ladder position.
 
now that nz has lost i am hoping melbourne and manly lose so we get a week off and get to play in sydney week 3
 
Yep. The only negative in the AFL system (which, ironically, THEY copied from the ARL) is that if EITHER 1st or 2nd lose in week one, they can't play each other in the grand final. However, if they both lose they can still play in the GF.

What s the motivation to win in the AFL top 4??

I like our current system. It isnt perfect but it keeps you interested til the last whistle of the Sunday (1 v 8) game.

My relos down Mexico way say there are plenty that hate the AFL system.
