Shane Shackleton

At least his a prop we have to try keep signing props for this year by the look of things so much injuries so far but hopfully Aaron Woods is all good for round 1.

Signing Shackleton would be similiar to our signing of Cashmere last season

How about signing a prop that might be useful in the future

We have been in trouble with injuries for the last few years, not just Props, what do we do different to other teams. A

Look TB I reckon it has had a lot to do with Sheens wish to have a mobile but undersized forward pack

These guys have had to play above their weights when games get into the wrestle and after a while fatigue sets in and injuries occur

Just my opinion though

Bit late to bring him into the side now.

Use some young guys. Give them a go instead of signing an injury prone prop 3 weeks before the season starts.

Either way it doesnt bother me. If he does gets signed or not. Lets just hope Woods is going to right by round 1.

we did we signed Jack Buchannan and have 3 very good props (for their age) in the system already, they are looking long term.

I thought the panic buying of over the hill journey men was a thing of the past and went out the door when our previous coach departed.

As some one else said, we have some very good kids who can get the job done if required, well at least as good if not better than the Shack

I'm a big believer in experience. Right now our prop stocks look thin in that department.

Besides if Shackleton was going to spend this year playing park footy somewhere around western Sydney, might as well be for us. Even if he never pulls on a WT jersey it would still be good insurance at a low price.

Prop is the most important position depth-wise. They are most prone to injury and you generally need at least four specialists per game (two start, two reserves), so anyone with a decent amount of experience and talent is worth looking at. Shackleton fits the bill.

At the moment, the only fit props we have are Galloway, Bell and Buchanan (who is yet to debut in FG). It was a real shame Gavet went down, he was looking like the missing piece to our prop puzzle. Bell provides the workhorse/stability role, hopefully Buchanan can fire up and be the mungrel we need off the bench.

I thought we have a few more props e.g:

Ava Seumanufagai WT
Mosese Fotuaika WT
Nathan Brown NYC
Soni Paasi WT NSW
Jarrad Szczudlo NYC

Jarrad will be out for the season, or most of it as he did his ACL during the off-season. Brown will headline the NYC pack this year so I don't think we'll see him in FG. I'd be keen to give Ava and Fotuaika a run in FG though.
