@weststigers what do you think of gold miners at the moment? I'm holding a couple, NST and KLA.

I tend to stay away from mining companies unless they are producing, but even then, I view them as trading stocks that need to be watched in line with the resource price - it's always a nail biter when an announcement comes out because it's so reliant on a couple of factors. It's too stressful for me.

Gold is high right now due to global issues, so if you've made some profit, maybe shave off your initial investment and let some the profit ride?

NST (Northern Star) seems to have made a good acquisition recently which people seem optimistic about - that optimism is built into the current share price. If an announcement is slightly off expectations, then it'll dump as you know.

Not sure of KLA (Kirkland Lake Gold). Seem to have also made a good acquisition, but same as NST - it all depends on what's happening on the ground. It's hard to gauge until an announcement comes out.

Depends what your objective is...if it's buy and hold long term, then mining stocks aren't my favourite. If you buy in at low entry points, then wait for the resource price to recover (as in, right now) to sell, then the volatility is your friend.

Just my 2 cents

GOR has been great to me. I bought at .30c a few years ago. Still upside I think.

I had 200 CBA shares gifted to me as an employee when they floated and opted to by 200 more at around $4..so that's grown to over 500 with share re-investment over the years...

Also have IAG..again gifted..

Only shares we ever bought was Pacific Brands about 2K worth cause everyone needs undies right..well that went tits up...

May look into it further in retirement...good thread..nice advice..

A few techy ETFs worth a look

ROBO (robotics)
ACDC (battery and lithium ETF, holds Tesla, Panasonic amongst other companies)
HACK (cyber security companies)

Does anyone on here trade CFDs. I used to do short term trading. Was doing ver well and then got hit by GFC. All the stop points in the world didnt help. Luckily didnt lose a lot of capital but blew all my profits. Just thinking about getting back in to them.

Google Titomic industries. They have an incredible titanium printing technology that (IMO) is going to go gangbusters. I've been day trading them for a while but I'm in a position to keep them now. They have just signed an agreement with Thiele which should set them up.

Interesting. The business sounds good. Rough history on the charts though. Do you feel like there's something that will now add some stability? Thiele? Looks a great time to buy in otherwise if they were to continue on the up.

My worry would be that titanium is just an expensive element with no real way around that, which might turn away potential business/make some of their ambition unfeasible.

I've got one I'll tell if you PM ....I know a certain company who is planning to offload some long time ballast so to speak .....I imagine it will net a quiet little profit when it all goes down

Hi HT. Is it ok if you share your tip? Am very interested. Many thanks!

ZNO (Zoono Group Ltd) - Bought 12,000 @ 0.86 last Friday Today ^up^ to 0.985 (^14.2%)

This one is doing well on the back of coronavirus fears. They make antimicrobial products that have been shown to work effectively against coronavirus strains. They were big under the SARS scare as well I'm led to believe.

According to a recent ASX announcement, sales are apparently going through the roof at present. Might be a good short term one while the virus is front page news.

Any more tips Mr Gecko?

Have a look at PBH - Pointsbet and APT - Afterpay

Honestly though, ZNO was meant to be a long term investment for me. The jump in share price from $0.86 10 days ago to $1.40 today was off the back of a couple of unexpected announcements. I had no inside knowledge.

In saying that, the reason I invested was because they have been making a push into the Chinese market - I was just lucky they announced a contract with the Chinese a few days after I bought it. More contracts to come I would say, so you can still get in now.

CSL, although expensive, has a solid growth trend of around 30% per year...that one is a great blue chip to own.

Thank you. Getting some great advice. Will be watching and may purchase a few of the good ones for long term. In relation to ZNO i actually got on yesterday. So today was a good day thanks to you. Long term investment. Might have to hang on and not cash out!

What’s the story with ZNO, do you know much of the history behind them? The share price peaked at over $100 in 2000 and then had quite the crash. At $1.50 it’s now sitting at a 5 year high after last seeing this price in 2015.

They used to be a mining company called Goldsearch trading under code GSE. Goldsearch then acquired Zoono Group and changed their business direction completely.

Weird story...ASX announcement is here https://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20160819/pdf/439g40gzszs1qc.pdf
