They don't need to be injected, they used creams and lozenges which is just illegal.

This is all contained in the Sharks own internal report. Plus they have 2 ex players currently taking them to court for these substances and possibly more being given to them.

According to Damien Irvine the real problem could be if players, both past and present, decide to commence legal action against the club. That is their main concern, and not the short term fine or the loss of their coach for a single season.

The other unknown is whether any current players will be handed suspensions for doping.

While not only hurting them on the field, it will open them up to legal action by any player who has their career disrupted because the club decided to juice them up… loss of earnings, loss of reputation, risk to health etc etc.

Its not the NRL that will kill them off with a $600k fine that they can repay over the next half decade (pathetic really), but their own players who could sue them for millions upon millions should ASADA be able to suspend them.

When the club is saying to the players take x,y,z as part of the supplements program, a player should be entitled to trust that those supplements are not going to kick them out of the game for two years and possibly end their career.

The club has a duty of care, which they didn't uphold, as specified by the NRL as the reasons why Flanagan and Elkin were suspended.

So I think they would have a case, and the former board of directors did too, which is why they sacked the coaching staff/medicos at the beginning of the year to mitigate responsibility.

Also I don't think the players are private contractors, but would be considered employees under tax law, as they don't satisfy the requirements of a contractor (that's a whole different can of worms lol). I don't think that's a factor however.

Interesting times ahead for the sharkies…

The lawyers will be jumping for joy. The bottom line as a professional athlete you are accountable for anything you put in your body. The onus will be on the player to prove he was deceived by the club, and that is where the lawyers from both camps will have a field day.

So in light of the damage this may do to the Sharks,their players and the game, maybe Smith will broker a "under table deal" to keep the lawyers at bay, it seems that is what the AFL did.

One things for certain I would love to see this all over by round one

When you hear the way Brian smith spoke about gallen… Nothing will surprise me...

He basically did everything but out him about 2 years ago. Spoke about gallen, but never mentioned his name. It was pretty easy to see who he was talking about

Im good mates with an Ex doggies forward….retired in the last few years (not giving his name away) He is an ex junior roo and in turn good mates with guys like bobcat Ryan and Guru Jnr. He played for Parra and one other team before joining the doggies. My old mate has the inside news on it all. Having a few beers with him a few nights ago, he reckons one of the leading Sharks and NSW forwards is the biggest Ju#@ie in the league. Its quite common knowledge in the inner circle. He has also told me this guy plus the sharks Centre (starting with P) has told all the other team mates to shut up and say nothing. I think NSW needs to find a new captain.........
