TIM Sheens has furiously denied falling out with Benji Marshall over his mate Tim Moltzen signing with the Dragons on Friday.

Moltzen and Marshall are housemates and best friends - and the Kiwi superstar had apparently been pleading with Sheens to keep him. When I told Sheens of the rumour that Benji was filthy at him, the Test coach said: "Have you bothered ringing Marshall to ask him? It's just another rumour. I'll tell you something: If Benji has got an issue, he would front me about it."

It's hard to believe that there would be a problem between the pair, who have been as close as father and son. It was Benji, more than anyone, who convinced Sheens to knock back the chance to coach Penrith. Sheens is being blamed for the Tigers' unrest about losing Andrew Fifita, Bryce Gibbs and Moltzen to make room for Storm forward Adam Blair, which is not entirely correct.
The Tigers have the hottest Toyota Cup squad in the competition and Sheens is planning ahead by signing up the best kids.

Most, if not all of these boys will be first graders. I'd go as far as to say half of them have what it takes to be rep players, if not more. Some of them are better RIGHT NOW than their first grade counterparts.

I think the rumours are just stirring.

This could all be avoided if the club came out to tell the fans and journo's their intent.

But then again, in business, you don't tell everyone what your future plans are.

With one media release all the rumours could be stopped so do managment what the rumours to continue? It seems strange that with one interview all would be soughted is this a deliberate attempt to cover what is really happening.

To those who claim that Sheens has lost respect of the players offer no evidence whatsoever and this kind of talk is very unhelpful, uninformed crap. If the club was indeed in turmoil we would be getting flogged every week and this hasn't been the case- in fact fact our D has been very good recently and it has only been made handling that has let us down in attach. The problem with our attach is that it appears to be built around Robbie and Benji. Robbie hasn't played well all year and if Benji is injured or off his game, we basically have no plan B.
Many on this forum don't realise that an NRL club is now a business and has to be run like a business. The Coach and CEO come up with a business plan which is ratified by the Board. Now if the original business plan is not working it is either amended or they come up with a new one and it is obvious to me that they have changed the business plan and that is why players who were re-signed this year on longer contracts have been asked to look elsewhere.
I support this cull and if we do get Blair, he will probably be only one of a number.

The easy way to stop rumours is to tell people what is happening and why. If you are not prepared to do that then don’t complain when rumours are started to fill in the gaps in people’s knowledge.
