you do bag him out quite a bit and really there is no alternative replacement as coach with a better track reconrd….but that fonz shot of sheens is Lengen, wait for it...................DIAYRYYYY! lol

as i get older i realize it is actually a flaw in us,the fans.
i watch 3 other teams as closely as i follow the tigers and every coach on those teams for the last 30 years has done the same thing as sheens.
maybe i'm cursed or something
i have finally accepted the fact that the team i wish was on the field for the most part won't be.probably a good thing considering i only see them on gamedays.
i'll just support the ones who have been selected and hopefully i will have a fun year watching each team step closer to glory.
hopefully none will look to have some new disease that looks unlikely to be cured in the short term.

come to think of it,even my daughters coaches are morons.are they even watching what is going on out there.

Its actually 7 years but lets not let the facts get in the way of Bug's dribble. The fact that anybody has to include 2003-2004 (where he had to rebuild from the Lamb fiasco) in Sheen's legacy suggests that their argument is a bit bunk.

Who are the alternatives? Oh I forgot these critics are not the constructive kind.
 
… Don't forget what the team was like before Sheens took over. The guy deserves more credit than he gets!!

I for one am happy to keep supporting Sheens as long as he wants to stay here! The guy did deliver a premiership in the last 5 years. We had 2 grades in the GF this year, which he deserves partial credit. Don't you think we are asking a bit much of our head coach?
 
Does anyone actually remember the era's before Sheens appointment as head coach? Seriously how many times did we make the finals back then? What about the late history of both Balmain and Wests? I don't recall any success at all back then. The anti-Sheens brigade need to look back or ask someone who has followed this club a bit longer then seven years to put things in perspective.

The teams during Sheens time and the football they've played has been excellent in comparison and in fairness has probably got better each year he's been with us (taking consideration for the loss of Prince and Marshalls injuries).

Prior to Sheens it was an absolute mess.

I cannot fathom the jibes and vitriol aimed at him.

Best coach/manager we have ever had by plenty.
 
I would just like to ask everyone what they would say about a club punting the current Australian coach and assistant coach from their club???

Nobody is happy about missing the finals each year, but really the guy is one of the best in the business, and people in the footballing circles know that more than anyone. We let him go, and he will be snapped up by the Roosters, or Souths, or Newcastle, and we will be left with a second rate coach, and a bunch of star players (eg Farah, Marshall, Moltzen, Lawrence) who want to work with that coach at whatever club he is at.

On some of the other comments, Sheens realised that Morris wasn't the best chance for half and tried some other things, such as Benji at half, and was crucified when he did so. Just remember that we won 6 in a row in 2007 with Morris at half and Benji nowhere to be seen, but when we had Prince at half and no Benji in 06, we didn't do as well. Im not saying Morris is anywhere near as good as Prince, but he gets too much of a bad rap for his effort and performance.

In regard to Gallant, PLEASE!, he was a decent player, but if he really was as good as some of the people on this forum belive, then surely he would've at least been the Cowboys first choice with Bowen out, but it seems he is their 3rd choice going on the teams they have named for this weekend. He may have played well for the 6 games we won in a row at the end of last year, but where was he in the Souths game, or the Bulldogs game (disregarding his goal-kicking) when he really was needed. He really didnt perform well in either of those games, and they were keys to our season.

I am happy for the club to re-sign him, not only because he is the best man for the job atm, but also because is shows stability, and doesn't wreak of insecurity, which is the path alot of the people on this forum wish to take. If he was doing that bad a job, then surely there would be plenty of media pressure on his job, which is there isn't, and I believe this is because the people who are football experts admire him, rather than the so-called football genius' on this forum who want at dual international to start in reserve grade because a good State Cup player has been training in the off season. Sheens was one of the key reasons why Robbie and Bejni stayed, and why Ellis and Tuqiri signed.

What some of the anti-Sheens brigade forget is that Sheens built a side (the 2005 side) around certain rules that were subsequently changed after we won the premiership. The policing of the ruck and the play the ball was changed after we won the premiership to basically shut down our game of using our quick men out of dummy half. We were then somewhat largely stuck with a side that was no longer suitable to the rules. There has also been a growing latitude for lazy defenders that doesnt suit our game. The amount of times that Farah should receive a penalty and doesnt is incredible - by my reckoning around 2-3 times a game. This coupled, admittedly, with some poor acquisitions have been the main reasons why we havent made the finals. The NRL thought dummy half running was unattractive and so shifted the rules.

BUT, and this is a big but, in all my time in supporting the Tigers (since circa 84) this is the most competitive side we have had post 1990\. Even though we havent made the finals we have generally been a competitive outfit that on any given day could win (and lose). Certainly that is no justification for not making the finals but the reality is that the NRL is an incredibly tough competition. Like others I think our side is presently better than the 2005 version. The problem is that other sides have got better as well.

One area where Sheens can be rightly criticised is team selections (but the non-selection of Gallant isnt one of them). However, as Bonstonker pointed out this same accusation can be made at all coaches. Rating players is a very subjective thing. Its funny how all the Gallant supporters ignore his defensive weaknesses. But thats subjectivity for you.

Regardless, any problems that Sheens has with his selections is more than made up for with his tactical skills. For mine, he is the best tactical coach in the league. No other coach could have achieved what Sheens achieved in 2005\. The tactics were so successful that the league changed the rules. As Simonthetiger said at the back end of the season, one of the reasons I rate Sheens is that every time I hear him give a summary of where we went wrong in a loss I agree completely with what he says. He is astute and for this reason I believe he must have his reasons for not playing some of the players that are hailed as heroes on this site. I must say that very few of those players have ever gone on to great success with another club. Funny that isnt it.

I dont agree Ink. Our 2006-2007 sides (after we lost Marshall to injury and Prince to the Titans) were nothing special. We finished in the appropriate position on the table. 2005 was a miraculous achievement. Our team list was about 12th in quality at the beginning of the season.
 
Bad recruitment has been our major downfall since 2005\. We paid overs for Collis,Halatau,Harrison,etc after the Gf win which at the time seemed essential.Unfortunately those players and a few more didn't kick on as we'd wish.This has been the 1st year since where we have been able to make a dent in the market,and i think the acquisition of Tuqiri and Cayless and Ellis last season will hold us in good stead. You have to be critical of a Coach whose team misses the 8 four years in a row,but i don't know of a better alternative.

Hello again i said on this site a few weeks back that Sheens would get another two years..i also said before the start of the season it would happn… i also said it would take two weeks for it to come out it has taken three so sorry about that ....

I have said a few things on this site that has become true...the person that tells me things about the club works there

One thing i heard today is that the club is looking for a prop still trying to pinch some one from another club i was told Sheens thinks we are one short and they have a little cash i was told england ...And one other thing i was told but will ask my friend a little more about it

With Sheens please just dont think about it as a coaching thing he can coach.. but i was told Nathan Brown was also looked at some people in the club like the way he coaches what i was told Folkes wont every coach the tigers the CEO of the tigers looks at all things and to have the current Australian coach there brings in money also the way the Tigers play gets more TV time which means money ... I am not a big fan of Nathan Brown its a personl thing not all a coaching thing but he was looked at because of the style of football he likes to coach

But what i was told Brown will be the next coach of the Tigers
 
That would just about un-do all the good work Humphries has done so far.

It's just a joke re-signing him so early. What if we miss the 8 again?
